rnurmin Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Hm... A mix between Dominion Tank Police & PatLabor Nice graphics though Quote
the white drew carey Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 I have mixed feelings. I think the character designs are simply terrible. Not to mention that the music for that trailer DOES NOT work well with the footage. It's like listening to a Britney Spears love song while watching the new SW trailer!!! Still, I love Dominion, so if the stories are written well and the pacing is good, I'll probably like it. Quote
Nightbat Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Yeah, another Dominion show!!!! (if it'll be as good as the old ones, we'll see) Quote
JELEINEN Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 Yeah, another Dominion show!!!!(if it'll be as good as the old ones, we'll see) I liked the Dominion manga pretty well, but the anime didn't do anything for me. Quote
EXO Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 That explains the merchandise coming from Yamato. I'm not really sure about CG characters for Shirow's material. They lose so much of the dynamic personalities that the manga has as in the Appleseed movie. I'm glad they sticking close to Shirow character design as far as faces though... Oh well if it sucks maybe I'll get a decent Bonaparte toy out of it... Quote
NERV Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 eh, i dont tihnk the characters shudve been CG, they move unnatural and jerky, and the mouth movement, when she isnt talking shes stuck in a permanent pout, but it could be good Quote

I'm wondering if this is just unfinished and that that will be smoothed out in the final release. Quote

sktchrtst2002 Posted March 20, 2005 Posted March 20, 2005 I LOVED DOMINION TANK POLICE! I was dissapointed with the sequel. This one looks like a test run on what they could do before they pushed the animating boundries and made the new APPLESEED movie! But I'll still check it out. Heh, and yeah, song does not match the footage! Quote

I'm wondering if this is just unfinished and that that will be smoothed out in the final release. I'll second that and the character desigsn seemed really flat and not very well animated at all. There's no dimension to them and almost look like flat paper aganst a gorgeous background. Maybe it is a work in progress and being fibished up. Quote

What trailers are now are simply what has been 'finished' and 99% isn't going to be polished anymore and is equally likely that those are the 'highlights'. You probably will see later improvement, but not for several eps. and you'll see lower quality because it's more then likely a 13 ep show(correct me if i'm wrong on the shows length). The cg is poor and their is NO reason for it. Hell, hobbyists in america do superior cgi anime then the japanese do. It's gonna be at least another 5-8 years before industry produced anime pulls it's standards up to roughly 2005 levels. Quote
Sumdumgai Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Good god I can't stand that poopy Appleseed-ish style of cg animation. It looks so freaking horrible. Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Wondering how developed the story and characters are. Hm, not loving the character designs at all. Quote
orguss01 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 MEcha look good but characters look like "S".. Redo the face and expressions....!!! Quote
Dangard Ace Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Paper figure of Bonaparte.....boooo!! I want me some diecast! Quote
Spatula Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Okay, what is this? CG from 1993? Honestly even the mecha looked so static and not well animated. I don't even want to see the characters. This is worse than SHOGO Quote
Sumdumgai Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) Shogo! Oh god, I remember playing that game! Got old really really fast... edit: quote from game "you mother-loving butt-monkey!". Hah, I still use this quote today. Edited January 20, 2006 by Sumdumgai Quote
EXO Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 So if they weren't Special, they would simply be called Tank Weapons and Tactics? Quote
JELEINEN Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Just watched the first episode. Not bad, but not great. The characters have a very stylized look to them and they still movie pretty jerky. The story and characterization were okay. I'm curious anyway to see where they decide to go with it. It's definitely not the same setting as the manga. Quote
bsu legato Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Ehh...I thought it was pretty weak. It seems that nobody, not even Shirow himself, can really capture the vibe of the original Dominion. I'll probably check out the next episode when it comes out, but I'll hardly be waiting for it with bated breath. Quote
Robelwell202 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 (edited) Any way of getting the DVD or Bonaparte figure in the US? I'd like to get them both. Also, would the DVD (assuming it's available, that is) work on a region-1 DVD player? Edited March 19, 2009 by Robelwell202 Quote
