Laserstorm Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 I need a translation on the text in this pic: Quote
Solscud007 Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Ok the banner says " Macross Girl" (top line) "We are not BAKA (stupid)" (bottom line) the little girl holding the peace sign is saying "Peace" Im not to sure abotu the rest Quote
Gunbuster Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 The rest of the translation is Minmay, "because that's a tea store" Hikaru is thinking "it's not a bookstore?" Roy is saying "that's enough you guys" Quote
Agent ONE Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Jesus, what a stupid poster. If I bothered to draw something like that I would have at least made them say something cool. Quote
Roy's Blues Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Well, A1 maybe some of our MW photoshop wizards can come up with something cool. Minmay "Kneel for your proper Kancho from Misa, stoopid rookie!" Roy "FETCH BEER NOW!" Quote
halfan Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 I think this is more of an inside joke. It would probably make more sense if we could see the rest of the book or magazine it was published in. Quote
Hurin Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 We're still missing a few translations. . . what's shammy saying in the upper-most bubble? That's Shammy right? Of course, never let a lack of context and information stop you from saying something is incredibly stupid! H Quote
Gunbuster Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 oh yeah, i forgot about her ;; I think she said "ozuresamadeshita" or "o yoresamadeshita" but i could be wrong. I'm so rusty on my Japanese..does' anyone know the kanji? Quote
Beltane70 Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 That's Kim, btw. She's saying "otsukaresamadeshita". I can't quite figure out what exactly the phrase means. This is what happens when one doesn't own a book on Japanese grammar! Quote
Opus Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 That's Kim, btw. She's saying "otsukaresamadeshita". I can't quite figure out what exactly the phrase means. This is what happens when one doesn't own a book on Japanese grammar! Google is your friend.http://www.city.yokohama.jp/me/naka/conten...n/lesson-3.html "Otsukaresama" is used to acknowledge someone's efforts or show your appreciation for the trouble that they have gone through. "Tsukare" () means tiredness or fatigue. For example, you can say "otsukaresama" to a colleague who has just returned from an important meeting. For your superiors, add "desu" () at the end to make it more polite: "otsukaresamadesu" (). You may also use the past tense, "otsukaresamadeshita" Quote
Beltane70 Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Looking through the two dictionaries I have, Minmay and Hikaru are saying totally diffferent things than what Gunbuster translated. Here's what I get from what I found in my dictionary: Minmay: arewa obshibai (a drama or a show)nandakarane Hikaru: Honki (seriousness) janakattano? Going out on a limb, I'm thinking this is supposed to be similar tot he scene in DYRL where Hikaru wonders how real Minmay's performance in the TV show she was in was. Quote
imode Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Sign: Macross Girls~We're not stupid ! Middle Girl: Peace! Girl on the right: Good work everyone! Hikaru: (thought bubble) You mean it wasn't real? Minmay: It was all just pretend! Roy: Cut that out you guys! Stuff on the side: Onomatopeia Quote
