kensei Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 As for the height of the kit, I believe that I gave it out with the March 31st update... Round abouts 34cm if I recall. Gawd blimey, about as tall as a 1/48! Hmmm, might need to learn how to build some models... Quote
f91 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 I love the pilots coming later....very cool idea...I smell a scene in the making! With a shot up VF-1D? Quote
yman1437 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 how could I miss such wonderful work from captain!? one, please Quote
captain america Posted April 11, 2005 Author Posted April 11, 2005 Hi Sithlord. I don't see why not. If demand is there, so am I. Granted, I think that the orders placed thus far have pretty much gone as high as they'll go. There might be a few more repeat orders from people wanting to produce different variants, but I'd be very surprised if total orders went beyond 70. Quote
baxojayz Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 70 is still one helluva of a run for a garage kit. I tip my hat to you. Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Hey Captain, I hope if you make a scout version you'll offer a full kit and not just parts to upgrade this one. I'd hate to get stuck with just upgrade parts and nothing to stick them to cuz I didn't order 2 or 3 of the standard battlepods at the start. Quote
Gabe Q Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Hey Captain, I hope if you make a scout version you'll offer a full kit and not just parts to upgrade this one. I'd hate to get stuck with just upgrade parts and nothing to stick them to cuz I didn't order 2 or 3 of the standard battlepods at the start. I agree with Grayson. Quote
Ghadrack Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 I want a tactical scout in this scale so bad I can taste it, seperate kit or upgrade parts just let us know how you plan to package it Quote
Amped Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 WTF?!? Where the HELL have I been? Please add me to the list of folks interested in this kit... I'm definitly in... if there's still a spot available!!! Quote
captain america Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 Masters are pretty much done; only a few little panels & switches left to do for the cockpit. Now comes the fun part: taking deposits I will start a new thread with all the info this weekend. For now, enjoy a couple of teasers. Quote
captain america Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 Rear hatch view. A lot of the levers and some panels were left out for the pic because I can't tack them into place without damaging them, but trust me, it'll look great when completed. Quote
promethuem5 Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Crap.... I've gotta pull out cuz I spent all of my money, but it looks gorgeous... great work Cap. Quote
Mechamaniac Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Just when I thought it couldn't possibly get any cooler. Are you still taking orders for this, I might just have to get one... Quote
jardann Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Capn' it looks great! I guess you have earned my money! Quote
captain america Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 I'm always taking orders I'll be starting a thread specifically to deal with downpayments/payment instructions over the weekend. Basically, about half the funds down now to pay for molding, and half upon completion of the castings. There's also a special little feature I'm working on for this model that hasn't been done before... But that's a surprise Quote
jardann Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Sounds great. I actually have some money ready for this, so I should be able to get a downpayment in whenever you post the payment thread. Now.... What could the special feature be? Let the agony of speculation begin! Quote
Rodavan Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Excelent work CAP We have been building CG Regults in the fan works thread , not the easiest model I have ever worked with , very impressive work ! Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Ooooh suprises! I'm guess an opening and closing hatch. Or possible a stand? Any chance we can get Anasazi working on decals? He does great work and I bet he'd be up for this project... since it seems demand is so high Quote
baxojayz Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I'm guess an opening and closing hatch. I remember Cap saying that working hatches would be nearly impossible in resin. Whatever the surprise may be, I know it's going to be way welcome. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for a pilot. I already know what I'll do with one of these. ***rubs hands like evil scientist*** I can't wait. Quote
Myersjessee Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Just looked at this again....and ....it's still brillant! Quote
Grayson72 Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 (edited) It really is unbelievable how you can start with a ball of sculpting stuff and come up with something that looks so perfect like it was produced by Hasegawa or something. Really incredible Cap. Edited April 15, 2005 by Grayson72 Quote
robokochan Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Just to let everyone know, I have updated the samurai-monkey.com website with new pics. Just got a batch from John a few minutes ago. If you have time check em out. Rob Quote
goldenboy_forever Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Oh my god!!! do you have the glaug booster back in stock i thought that was lost forever. from Rich probably going to burst my bubble Quote
robokochan Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Actually....No it is not in stock. But I am working on it. Quote
goldenboy_forever Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Wow great work on the battle pod I hope its not too top heavy that the joints can't support the weight. Or are you going to make it so its like a solid piece for the leg? from Rich Quote
captain america Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005 Hi Rich. Most of the "pod" parts are hollow, including the side thrusters to alleviate the weight on the ball-joints. Should they still be a tad loose, you can try this: take the "ball" part, and scuff it VERY lightly with a file, and then add a THIN layer of CA glue (one drop is more than enough) onto the ball and let it harden. When it's dry, scuff it once again very lightly, and then snap it into the cup. Voila: instant high-tension ball-joint. Quote
goldenboy_forever Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 (edited) Great Tip I'll have to keep this post in mind. I was worried about the weight but looks like problem solved. Hey Cap I was wondering how long do you think you will be able to produce these kits becasue I may want to order more in the future. You know how its is you need like a squad of regults. Were you going to produce conversion kit so you can add on missles or scout version ect from Rich Edited April 19, 2005 by goldenboy_forever Quote
captain america Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 Hi Rich. I plan to keep the Regult model available for as long as possible. From the get-go, I was quite sure that people might want more than 1 kit, if only because there are easily 3-4 variations that can be done with it. Also, I think that good availability would also kerb a great deal of recasting: my logic is that people might not be so tempted by a bootleg if the better-quality originals are still readily-available. Quote
Viceland Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 I'm taking the liberty ... as suggested by baxojayz, link to Regult downpayment thread here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...opic=14427&st=0 Quote
