Dax415 Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Just bought an airbrush and some clear coat, but I don't know if you use the gloss straight from the jar or thin it out. The flat coat is pasty, how do I prep it for use in the air brush? What do I mix it with? Thanks Quote
Ido Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I think clear gloss should be thinned a bit as you thin the others tamiya light colors, but i never airbrushed it so... The flat base if I remember well is supposed to be added to the gloss paint to make them flat, it's not a clear flat finish. Quote
HWR MKII Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Bingo on the flat coat Ido. The tamiya clear coat is a little thick but can be airbrushed on as is. It is thick enough that you can stretch it out a little further by thinning it but dont thin too much or it WILL run all over no matter what you do sean Quote
Mallet21 Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 I'm not a huge fan of the Tamiya clear coats. I prefer using Testors (Poly-S) for my clear coats. Quote
HWR MKII Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 I prefer the Polly S clear as well it doesnt need thinning but in the UK that brand isnt available. So as tamiya is the closest available product i have had to learn how to use their stuff. Quote
