Ladic Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Lucas Contemplates Life After 'Star Wars'George Lucas appears to be ambivalent about his future career course after the final episode of Star Wars is released next month. On the one hand, he told Wired magazine, "I've earned the right to just make things that I find provocative in my own way. ... I've earned the right to fail, which means making what I think are really great movies that no one wants to see." On the other hand, he appears to be no less preoccupied with making commercially successful fare. "With film, if you get a million people to see your movie on the first weekend, you've made about $5 million. That basically will not end up on the top-10 chart," he told Wired. "You have to get 10 million people on the first weekend. And if you don't do it in two days, you're basically out of the theaters and into the DVD market. There's just an ecology there. If you're a mouse, don't expect to kill a lion, because it ain't gonna happen. If you want to have that kind of power, it's better to be a lion, because the mice are fine -- you can have a life and everything -- but the lions are the ones out there prowling and scaring the hell out of everybody." http://www.imdb.com/news/sb/2005-04-27/ Quote
Knight26 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Does anyone know who the EU character they plan to show in the movie is yet, and how much screen time he is expected to get? Also I've been reading the book and something is bugging me, is the Lt. COmmander Needa in the book suppossed to be the same Captain/Admiral Needa as in ESB/ROTJ? If so man, that is a slow rise in rank, over twenty years from LT Commander to Captain, or is it maybe suppossed to be his father? Quote
Coota0 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I was wondering that too, but I think the Needa in the book is supposed to be an ancestor/realative of the one in ESB Quote
Hikuro Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 fishies don't have long life spans I'd say great great great great grandson! Quote
Knight26 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 (edited) yeah I was just confused when I first heard the name (listening to it at the gym), so I think as well that is must be his father or uncle. I was thinking if the character were an ensign, that might make more sense, 20+ yrs from ensign to captain, that's a long time but respectable, maybe it's the other Needa's older brother then. Now who is the EU character, anybody know? Edited April 27, 2005 by Knight26 Quote
Fortress_Maximus Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Anybody found any of these in stores yet?AT-TE Gunner Clone Commander Clone Trooper 2 Clone Pilot Commander Baccara Senate Guard Royal Guard or the Target Exclusive Clone Commander? Everyone EXCEPT the Clone Commander, FRACK! Quote

Needa was the captain that was choaked for letting the Falcon get past the fleet. Admiral Piat was the guy in both Empire and Jedi.....and also Firefox for those who give a poo! He replaced Admiral Ossle. (In best Milhouse voice) "I AM a nerd!" Chris Quote

Roy Focker Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Okay more Jedi bashing just for the hell of it. More proof of the actually "evil" of the Jedi. They like taking very young children into the order. The kids pretty much cut contact with their parents and live the life of a Jedi. Later on the Jedi can't marry. They are force to dedicate their lifes to the order. Why take them so young? The answer is control. Take them at a young age away from out side influences and they will keep the order the way it is. Now an even crazier theory kinda of in fact. Very young kids are brought into the order. When they get old enough they are paired with a master/mentor. The Spartans did a similar thing. Some scholars theories that the very close student/mentor relationship of the Spartans might have been intimate. A poor family signs away their parenting rights to their young child in exchange for a little money and thinking it's going to give they're child a better chance. Isn't that what people think about Micheal Jackson? A little green man who seems child like gains the childs trust. When the kid is old enough an older mentor is paired with them. The Jedi order are a bunch of pedophiles! Parents don't give your child over to a Jedi! Quote

(yah yah keep it mature i can see the insults comming) Its not a bad thing since in the spartan way it was a more of a sign of great respect. And they did marry woman, strong woman so ... its a interesting theory. See I would go with like an ancient chineese kung-fu taoist cult than the spartan example. Quote

Abombz!! Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Since Jedis can't marry.... they keep Twik'lek Jedis around to have "fun" when the galaxy isn't falling apart Either that... or Twik'leks are just transexual Jedis Quote
bsu legato Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 If there's anybody who's gay in the SW universe, aside from C3P0, its those darn Sith. Think about it: There's only two (lifepartners), a "master" and an "apprentice." They're always looking to "recruit" new members (classic Conservative anti-gay propaganda) and they are trying to take over the galaxy (or make themselves "accepted" in mainstream culture). And with that post, I officially declare that we've run out of things to talk about. Quote

The ROTS Novel touches on this, a conversation (I want to say Obi and Yoda) says that because Anakin forces the order to change becuase he didn't come to him when he was an infant. Quote
azrael Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Don't forget there are women in the Jedi order, too. That means it's their all pediphiles. A bunch of guys and gals taking in little kids....wonder if they ever had child-porn problems. So it ain't just man-on-boy. We got woman-on-girl, teacher-on-student, student-on-teacher, teacher-on-teacher, etc. Quote

Jinnai Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 The Episode III soundtrack is nothing short of spectacular.. It IS a bit repetitive, espeically with the tie ins with the OT, however, the beat with the opening track combined with the visuals of the opening space battle proves it's worth. I'm glad it got leaked 3-4 weeks back. Quote

Axelay Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I absolutely love the ROTS soundtrack. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" is clearly my favorite, as I've listened to it repeatedly since I got it. Quote
Axelay Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I can almost guarantee that you will not find any of the "hot" figures what are the currrent "hot" figures anyway? Oooh, oooh, I'll field this one. As it currently stands, any of the figures numbered above 32 are in short supply. I suspect that will change after May 8th, though, which is when the "next wave" is supposed to hit stores. Here's the rundown. Links are to Rebelscum, arguably the best Star Wars collecting site on the 'net. Above #32: Clone Commander - I can safely say that this is my new favorite Star Wars figure of all time since he's armed to the teeth. I lucked out and got 3 of them, and kept 2 in the package. This is probably the most sought-after non-limited figure. Only drawback to this one is the lack of articulation at the waist. Clone Pilot - Got 3 of these as well. Nothing too special about them except for the fact that you need them to go with the ARC-170. AT-TE Gunner - This one is proving to be a pain to find. What makes this one so desirable is that it has a 2-piece removable helmet. Customizers want this one so that they can swap the head with the body of a super-articulated Clone Trooper. Unfortunately, this one is packed 1 per case, so good luck with it. (I got 2. LOL.) Red Royal Guard - I have yet to even see a single one of these. Blue ones are not that terribly rare, but the red ones are. Variants: Palpatine - What makes this figure so rare is that some of them come with a blue lightsaber, and some of them come with a red one. The red one is the "correct" one, so if you can find a blue one, snatch it up! Exclusives: Lava Reflection Darth Vader - This one didn't impress me at all. It's just a repainted mold of an old figure, BUT it's a Target exclusive. Limited to 50,000, I've already seen some of these go for over $40 on eBay. Celebration III Darth Vader - This one's nifty because it comes with an electronic base which has a soundclip player. The clips? Recorded by none other than James Earl Jones himself. Once again, limited to 50,000 and already going for up tp $60 on eBay. This one will probably turn out to be the ultimate cash cow of all of them. Holographic Yoda - a Toys 'R Us exclusive, this one was released at the midnight madness event when the toys first hit the shelves. Not too staggeringly rare, but still a good one to find. Target Exclusive Clone Trooper - Now this one I definitely want. They're not supposed to be on the shelves until May 8th, but many of them are showing up early. This is a super-articulated Clone Trooper with Commander Neyo's Legion decals, and it comes in a clamshell package. It's a whopping $12, but I definitely intend to get 2. Hope this helps a little! Radd Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I absolutely love the ROTS soundtrack. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" is clearly my favorite, as I've listened to it repeatedly since I got it. Did you catch how the Duel of the Fates theme seems to climax in the Anakin vs. Obi-wan track? Quote
Dobber Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Is it out already? I thought it comes out on May 3! I listened to that 7 min trailer again. That is DEFINATELY NOT empire. You guys with the Sith soundtrack...is that where that music came from? Chris Quote
bsu legato Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 The soundtrack isn't out in stores yet, but it is out there. If you get my meaning. I think Cmdr. Grant was referring to the theatrical trailer, which was made up of ESB music. That music in the Celebration III footage isn't on the ROTS soundtrack. That doesn't mean that its not in the movie, but to be honest I'm not even sure if its John Williams. I'd go look for more info on the SW boards, but those places scare me. Quote
Knight26 Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Ok, I'm reading the book right now and a certain EU character is mentioned, let's just say he's a Zahn creation, my question is, is this the character we will "see" in the movie, if even in cameo? I ask because as of now no dialog, only inner monologue, has mentioned him by name. So come on people in the know who is the EU character that appears? Quote
