CF18 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Hot off the press! http://www.visualmedia.com.hk/cgi-bin/news...em=161348&utag= http://www.visualmedia.com.hk/cgi-bin/news...em=161349&utag= http://www.visualmedia.com.hk/cgi-bin/news...em=161350&utag= http://www.visualmedia.com.hk/cgi-bin/news...em=161351&utag= http://www.visualmedia.com.hk/cgi-bin/news...em=161352&utag= I wonder how will they mix the Dyrl, Plus and 7 story together. Minmei + Mylene duet? Quote
Wes Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Well, you know what they say, two out of three ain't bad! I only see DYRL in those pics. PS2, I assume? Quote
rikiryou Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 (edited) YES! It's the Dancouga!! XDD Glad to see Ideon and Gunbuster back as well. Gaogaigar Final, mmmm. It's a bit weird to have Virtual On in the series though, but that's still pretty interesting. I wonder if the Sunrise Eiyuutan units will pop up this time around. Well, it's actually a total of 4 Alpha games so far (including Alpha Gaiden), and yes Alpha 3 is a PS2 release. Edited February 8, 2005 by rikiryou Quote
bob joe mac Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 *drools* This game is gonna be friggin awesome *hopefully* Alpha 2 was pretty sweet but lack of macross made me sad... BUT GGG was in it and the new graphics were awesome. *hopes Alpha 3 will be the SRW from the gods* Quote
maxjenius81 Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Alpha is a tough act to follow. I was cool without the Macross in Alpha 2, but damnit, for Alpha 3....I WANT MY SRX!!!! Quote
Valk009 Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I was about to get one of these games (I guess part two of the series) but looks like you need to know a lot of Japanese Is it true? Btw, part three looks fab! Andy Quote
rikiryou Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 You need to know Japanese in order to understand the plot and some technical stuff, but you don't need it to play the game. Trying out what option does what pretty much enables you to play the game(s). Quote
Valk009 Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Cool, I might pick one up as they are selling for only like US$13 new Andy Quote
Graham Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 One thing I've never liked about the SRW games is that they add their own non-anime mecha, which I dislike. I wish they would just stick to anime only mecha. Given the popularity of anime outside of Japan, you would think they would release an English language version of these games. Still I guess licensing could be problematic. Graham Quote
JB0 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 One thing I've never liked about the SRW games is that they add their own non-anime mecha, which I dislike. I wish they would just stick to anime only mecha. ALL SHALL FEAR THE MIGHT OF CYBASTER! ... Or however we're spelling it today. Given the popularity of anime outside of Japan, you would think they would release an English language version of these games. Still I guess licensing could be problematic. I suspect licensing issues may be part of it. ... Though turn-based SRPGs aren't a really huge market in America. And a lot of the shows in SRW never got a lot of attention in America(or have been forgotten, like Getter Robo and Mazinger Z). VFX2 was likely selected for US release because it had the ability to appeal to the masses. Whether you know Macross, Robotech, or nothing, the ability to fly a transforming jet and blow lots of stuff up makes for a universally good idea. The ability to move several SD versions of said jet around a map and watch them blow stuff up... doesn't. SRW's market may easily be just a very vocal niche, and not worth targeting. Unless you do more Gundam Wing and less... everything else. Which is automatically a bad idea because it ups the amount of Gundam Wing stuff. Quote

Graham Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I really wish they would make the mecha in SRW games non-SD. Graham Quote
JB0 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I really wish they would make the mecha in SRW games non-SD.Graham Been done a few times. Using the ARMD attack on a bootleg Great Mazinger was funny enough in SD. The mind shudders at the comic possibilities if it had been to proper scale. ... Which is probably why they keep to SD. They like to spoil our fun. Quote
Roy's Blues Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I really wish they would make the mecha in SRW games non-SD.Graham Bandai made this. Isn't it SRW? Altalion pics from toy-wave.com Quote
JB0 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I really wish they would make the mecha in SRW games non-SD.Graham Bandai made this. Isn't it SRW? Altalion pics from toy-wave.com I think he meant in-game. Was it Shin SRW was the one that had anime mechs and was non-SD? Quote
Wing Commander Chen Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 (edited) Bandai made this. Isn't it SRW? Volks made that . . . says so on the box (not the transport box). Was it Shin SRW was the one that had anime mechs and was non-SD? Yes, along with SRW Scramble Commander. Edited February 17, 2005 by Wing Commander Chen Quote
Mechamaniac Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I really wish they would make the mecha in SRW games non-SD.Graham Agreed. The character art looks fantastic, too bad they have to ruin it with stubby SD gayness. Quote
Panon Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 ...I LIKE the SD... Agreed, I could never play a non-SD SRW game. It just wouldn't be right. Quote
akt_m Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 i really wish they would make it (and some better macross games) for PC. Quote
