Knight26 Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005 This shot makes it look very f-16 like IMHO. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005 Non-update, update: I realized tonight in the shower how to make a good looking bubble canopy, and tested it, but will not have a pic of it until tomorrow. I should actually be able to use to to correct a few other designs as well. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 19, 2005 Author Posted March 19, 2005 Update, new cockpit and spine are in, as well as redone docking points. I think it came together well, though I am debating extending the canopy back a bit to give somewhat better rear visibility. Also I might extend the area forward of the docking points closer to the nose, any thoughts? Quote
Knight26 Posted March 19, 2005 Author Posted March 19, 2005 For now at least I am going with a canopy that slides forward, similar to on the Viper. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 20, 2005 Author Posted March 20, 2005 Update: Well first off I will take the lack of replies to mean that people do not like the radical change I came up with in the Non-Sol, now Neo-Sol. Personnally I do, and really it is the route I should have taken to begin with IMHO. I think it now looks much more like something humans would develop. Anyway the updates are as follows, I have started the detailing process, putting in panel lines on the upper fuselage from the docking mounts forward. I will start on the aft fuselage after I get back from the gym. You will notice that there are slight differences between the left and right side, and no the cockpit so no longer podded, an error on my part in the design, doh. But the pilot is equipped with a fully pressurized suit and an ejection seat, he just won't be as protected as he would be in a pod. I really do appreciate any comments you have, even if it is to say that you don't like it. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 What a body, check her out boys. I finished the fuselage today, I think it came out well. THe only things that need to be added to the fuselage now are blade and blister antennae, and maybe some additonal sensors. Let me know what you think, I plan to start in on the wings tommorrow and start adding the antennae. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 oh yeah and I reconfigured as a twin tail Quote
Knight26 Posted March 25, 2005 Author Posted March 25, 2005 Update: Well I finished the upper wing, but the pics of that are at home, sorry. But I was bored so before I went to lunch I rendered the following image, later retouched in photo-paint to give it a line art look. It's the new Solaar on the ground with a Lodran, basically a 7.5' tall shark man standing next to it. Really gives the thing a sense of scale when you see this. The Lodran was created by Exo, based off a description sheet I sent him. Comments are appreciated. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 27, 2005 Author Posted March 27, 2005 Update: Well my machine is back up and running and I have cranked out some textures for the fuselage. These have no flight colors at this time, I will have to figure out a color scheme for these this week. Appreciate any comments. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 28, 2005 Author Posted March 28, 2005 Hand me the Fork, the Mk-1 Solaar is Completed: Here are the pics, fully textured, with the units for the the 36th Attack Squadron. Enjoy, comments are still welcome, trying to figure out whether or not to put colors and unit marks on the missile packs. Oh and yes I noticed the texture error on the top of the fins, I will correct it. Also the pic of the upper aft right quarter you can see the vector paddles in the closed position, where they act as thrust reversers. Quote
Knight26 Posted March 28, 2005 Author Posted March 28, 2005 Reverse thrust, just need engine effects now. Quote
Knight26 Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 Update: Sorry for not keeping you guys up to date on this one, but here is the Solaar Mk-2. The changes are as follows: 1) new wing based loosely on the F-16XL, but with an anhedral tip. 2) recontoured nose 3) The removal of 1 Heavy plaser and 1 MDC 4) The addition of four light Plasers for use against fighters 5) The removal of the Ventral Fins 6) color change Basically this new model was designed to be able to still accomplish it's anti-bomber mission but also have weapons for engaging fighters. Anyone onto the pics, first off the registry. Quote
Knight26 Posted April 23, 2005 Author Posted April 23, 2005 Update Maties, the Mk-3 is finished, so the redesign kick is finished for now. Comments appreciated as always. The Mk-3 modifications are as follows: 1) new hex-shaped wing 2) partially recessed missile launchers in the wings, two of each type 3) new plaser cannons, in triple flex mounts on each leading edge 4) installation of twin Thrasher cannons, basically large fletchette cannons 5) removale of original twin engines, replacing with four outspaced engine nacelles 6) new tails mounted to the engines, and old tail mounts removed 7) paint scheme of VF-84 Jolly Rogers This one is the pure fighter variant. Zentrandude Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 (edited) Thats a very cool design. The engine configuration kept reminding me of the babylon 5 fighter but it realy works for it. edit: would be cool if you add a back turret on it like the space: above and beyond fighters.
