Gerwalker Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 I've just received this wonderful resin model. It's level of details is amazing for the size of the model. The casting is superb. Not a single thing to complain!!! Thanks guys!! You did a great job!! Now I have to build it and find a way for displaying it. Any ideas? Quote
Myersjessee Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 There was a screen cap of one being tossed around inside a ship...I was thinking of building one working on a Hasegawa VF1....little diorama scene. You could suspend it from above with a wire to the base or you could lift it up from the bottom with an acrylic rod. Glad you like the kit. I agree...Joe put a stunning amount of detail into the little bugger. Quote
Gerwalker Posted January 14, 2005 Author Posted January 14, 2005 Good idea! I mean put it working on a VF-1. I'm plannig to vacuform the cockpit using the resin part as a template and put a pilot figure inside. Of course the transparent should be painted with clear smoke paint. Quote
neptunesurvey Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 That is an idea. I was thinking about one where the spiderbug is retrieving a damaged fighter after combat. Quote
cobywan Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 I was thinking of useing my miscasted Lancer parts and the Spiderbug to make a post Zentran attack diorama. Quote
Kylwell Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Well I gotta say, now that I've gotten my Spiderbug, that this is freekin' cool. To build a cockpit or not to build. Then there's that lightbar...cast one outta clear green or build one up and paint it.... Quote

Then there's that lightbar...cast one outta clear green or build one up and paint it.... what a great idea...I never thought of casting it in clear. FUDGE! I don't have any crystal clear resin...but I have some clear stuff that takes tint well...maybe Ill try a couple yellow, blue, and red translucent bars out...news to come... Quote
Gerwalker Posted January 21, 2005 Author Posted January 21, 2005 Sorry but: that bar on top of the mast is a lightbar? I thought that was a radar antena or something like that Is there any screen cap that shows that thing as a lightbar? Quote

Well...months later then I planned I finally got around to trying out some translucent resins. I try not to work with clears as the stuff will kill you (literally! ) but I have messed around tinting translucents...so heres my first few trys. I started out with a clear (thinking I could use a clear Tamiya paint to make it any color I wanted) and I think I like that best. I also tried tinting it blue, green, and yellow. Blue I would say is the next best. Green might be okay, but I need a lighter tint as it's overpowering the translucent. Just sharing what I did. and Quote
Kylwell Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Way cool! uh...what'll it cost me to get a blue or clear lightbar? Quote
Ranger565 Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 lol awsome, When can I buy the blue light? Ranger565 Quote
Myersjessee Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 LOL...I wasn't actually making them to sell...but they are really easy for me to do a couple. Is blue or clear the color people would prefer? Quote
jardann Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 The blue looks awesome, but I don't know how much good a blue light would be in space? Thinks it over What the heck! It looks cool so I vote blue! Quote
baxojayz Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 The blue looks awesome, but clear would be best, then you can tint them any color you like really easily. I just got me SECOND set fo two Spiderbugs on Monday. They STILL looks great! Thanks dude! Quote
Gerwalker Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 Sorry, are we sure that that thing is a light bar? Any screen cap to show that please? The blue one looks terrific!! Quote
Myersjessee Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Okay...Ill do blue and clear. They will be $3 for the canopy and lightbar shipped in the US. Note in forsale. Quote
