Jester Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 http://www.robotech.com/news/viewarticle.php?id=175 I can't speak Im livid at their presumption. And feel like Im going to throw up
Falconlord Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 (edited) All I have to say is that the whole last sentence in the first paragraph of the news article says it all......Pitiful how much they presume, given that the legal battle over the rights isn't even over yet, as I recall.... yellowlightman Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 This is pretty old news guys, it was discussed a while ago. Not sure exactly what you're referring to when talking about "presumptions" but believe it or not Harmony Gold has had a hand in bringing over some popular anime, as well as creating a large portion of early anime fandom through Robotech.
MjrMisaHayase Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 I'm excited with the news, despite the legal bru-haha(sp) that's going on. Tokyopop has published the best English-translated manga in the past such as Sailor Moon and Parasyte.
vanpang Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Well at least we can look forward to the Manga.
Beware of Blast Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Well, I don't blame you if you feel like throwing up because no matter how nicely written that press release is, deep inside, we all know TOKYOPOP Inc is just giving a cut to HG to avoid any legal trouble. I hope the undeserved cut does not effect the bottomline price of the Mangas too much. But just like a fat guy who's about to jump into a small Jacuzzi, you never know.
Radd Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Yeah, this is very old news by now. At this time, though, no one really knows what's going on with this M7 Trash deal. The popular belief is that Tokyopop licensed the manga from Big West, and then invited Harmony Gold in to keep the legal battle from causing them any trouble. Of course now Tokyopop has removed all news of this deal from their website, which has lead to speculation that Big West may have pulled the plug on it once they got wind of Tokyopop's dealings with Harmony Gold in the matter. A smart move on Big West's part if they plan to meet Harmony Gold on the legal battlefield over merchandising and distribution rights to the Macross derivatives, such as Macross 7 Trash. Again, though, no one really knows for sure. It will certainly be interesting to see where this goes from here.
Dangard Ace Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Feel free to contribute to the discussion already going in the Legal thread. B) http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...26&t=153&st=240
