niomosy Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Having avoided all but one Yamato thus far, I decided to pick these two up. About the only reason I did was that Bandai doesn't appear to be releasing them and it's unknown if Yamato will release them in a 1/48 or not. I'm not a huge fan of the 1/60 to be honest. I don't care for the transformation, don't like the flimsy feel of them when holding one and think they just look like the kid in high school voted "most likely to get beaten up by bullies" when compared to my 1/55's. I was pretty excited, though, about these. The shots looked pretty good so I was quite willing to order them. I'll start with the VT-1 since that's the one I opened first. The fighter mode looks great. I figured it was time for battroid. One of the first things I noticed is that some of the plastic seems a bit cheap. I double-checked the box and didn't see Masterpiece Collection written on it anywhere. After that, I grabbed my 1/60 1A Max and compared. The VT-1 does seem a bit lower quality than the 1A Max. Hrmmm. Oh well. I at least managed to get the fast pack to stay in place when standing which I was happy to see. VE-1. We're starting off better. It already has the leg armor on! Why do one this way and another that way? Oh well. Wait... no instructions in the VE-1. Argh. Same basic quality issues. Plus that head! I could swear it was singing, "if I only had a brain". It's tiny! Almost comical. Fortunately the fast packs on it are staying in place as well so I'm not complaining. All said, I'm relatively pleased with these but they'll be on E-bay real quick if Bandai ever releases theirs or Yamato releases 1/48's. Quote
