astromanED Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Here's a kit I just finished. I did this, don't laugh, to warm up for a VF-0 I'm gonna start here soon. Why the warm up? Well my last few kits have been resin so I wanted to prep my mind set to Hase plastic kits. So as usual I present you this kit for your cheers or jeers. Thanks Quote
astromanED Posted December 5, 2004 Author Posted December 5, 2004 (edited) For the first time I tried gundam weathering markers. It looks kinda gloopy but as I use them I'm sure they'll start coming out better. Tips or tricks anyone? Edited December 6, 2004 by astromanED Quote
astromanED Posted December 5, 2004 Author Posted December 5, 2004 I was gonna drill out the UMM-7 pods but chickend out. the more I think about it the more I think that this looks fine. Quote
astromanED Posted December 5, 2004 Author Posted December 5, 2004 Here's a tip: if you break off and can't find the little fins on the kit. take some black and streak it along the edge and voila! instant battle damage. Quote
Myersjessee Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I love the weathering on the leg armor! Quote
Mallet21 Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I love the weathering on the leg armor! Me too....I'm really digging that 'chipped' paint look. Quote

007-vf1 Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 If this build up is just a "gloopy" warm up I like to see the serious/ well finished stuff you come up with... Tell me about the base...what is it made of? Quote
astromanED Posted December 6, 2004 Author Posted December 6, 2004 Wow, Thanks everyone! The bar is set really high here so it keeps me inspired to be better. All the tips and tricks I've found here keep me going and not giving up, so well thanks everyone. 007-vf1 the base you see is a MDF award plaque that was going to be thrown out at work because it was scratched up pretty bad. A little putty, sand paper and black paint fixed it up real nice. Quote
HWR MKII Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 NICE!!! it gives me ideas on how to "fix" the paint job on my 1/48 UD strike. i wanted to go for the same effect you have achieved here. Quote
Akula Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 looks good, nice to see kakizaki get some love! Quote
fooman Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 I especially like the battle damage on the underside of the cockpit. All I can say is take another pic with a nice back drop and I'll have to change my shorts next time:) Quote
connor99 Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Dons the DARTH VADER voice: "Impressive. Most impressive!" . Great work on this little baby, dude! I just wish it's a YAMATO 1/48 and I wish it's MINE !! Quote
