Only the missiles are still missing, but the will follow soon. This way you can see the underside better. The decals from Macross are from a special hasegawa add on sheet. The plane itself is a 1/72 Revell F-14-D:

by the way armarments are finished 85% just the decals are missing....it will be finished by today!!!

VERY nice. BTW which Hasegawa decal sheet did you use, #1, 2 or 3? I'm doing an F-35 in a Macross Zero scheme, and need "UN NAVY" decals.

Not bad after 10 years, I think the kite looks pretty realistic given the size of the Navy insignia on the low viz F-14's

One comment, the panel lines are a bit too thick and dark for my tastes. Did you think about an oil wash?

Nice model! I like the decal scheme, although I would point out that no Tomcat would ever launch from a carrier with 6 AIM-54s unless he was certain he was going to shoot something down with them. The plane would be too heavy to land with 6 phoenix missiles. (land based is a different story though)

@grayson: I know that my panel lines are really dark. but I like it that way. I think that undelines the comic-effect a little. It is a technique I use on my gundams too. I don`t know if a oilwash would work on a kit painted with waterbased acrylics.

Ah yes from that perspective I can see your point.

Acrylic paints is all I use, it's the preferred base for oil washed.

then another question....you thin the oil with terpentine, don`t you....doesn`t it destroy the acrylics?

you should put a clear coat over the acrylic before you do the wash. that way you won't ruin the paint.

I thin artists oil with low odor mineral spirits. Has no affect on the paint, particulary if the paint is glossy, flat leaves a ring.

P.S., I like all the Phoenix missiles, it's supposed to be anime and not real.

I think he meant the VF-1 PE set--as he said, he'd wanted to do a 1S first...

And from my personal experience the PE details are not really worth it unless you have FAST packs on the valk--although I do like the extra cockpit details, too bad you can't get them on their own...
