wakobi Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Hey it's that time again to start buying presents and my girlfriend decides she wants a funny, romantic anime. I have absolutely have no idea what to look for whatsoever, since it's not my preferred genre. Do you guys have any ideas? ANY input whatsoever will be appreciated! Quote
bandit29 Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Cool Devices and Bible Black..she'll love ya for those... Quote
Anubis Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 (edited) His and Her Circumstances (aka Kare Kano) (box set on sale this week for 40 bucks at right stuf) Ah/Oh My Goddess OVA and Movie Ai Yori Aoshi (original + Enishi) Chobits Please Teacher/Please Twins Saikano (She the ultimate weapon) Kimagure Orange Road (48 episodes+ova's and movie, so pretty long) Fushigi Yugi (52 episodes + ova's=very long as well) Maison Ikkoku (really really long) all I can think of right now. More actual romantic elements than say Love Hina or a romantic comedy/harem comedy of that vein. Edited November 15, 2004 by Anubis Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Hmmm... funny and romantic? Perhaps Love Hina, Saber Marionette J and Full Metal Panic? Quote
bob joe mac Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 For Funny and romantic but not stupid herum kare kano (26 eps) Fushigi Yuugi (52 OVAs are dumb dont bother unless you become addicted and want something to destroy the show for you ) For damn good and serious Kimi ga Nozomu Eien Quote
ewilen Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I'll second the recommendations of Kimagure Orange Road and Maison Ikkoku. I remember not being very enamored of Ah! My Goddess, though all I really remember was that it was vaguely like an update of Urusei Yatsura. For very silly semi-romantic stuff, UY and Ranma 1/2 might be options. Another possibility might be "Ocean Waves"/"I can hear the sea"...oops, I don't remember it as especially funny. http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/video/umi/ for DVD releases (only R2 and R3 so far). wakobi Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Cool Devices and Bible Black..she'll love ya for those... Man if ya knew her, she probably would! But thanks guys for all the input, it helped me BIG TIME and I made a purchase as a result. In the end I bought the His and Her Circumstances boxset, which appears to have gotten rave reviews everywhere. So thanks guys for pullin' together for me in my hour of need! *sniff* Quote
Jolly Rogers Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I am surprised no one's mentioned La Blue Girl yet. Quote

fearyaks Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Would a movie work? Millenium Actress was pretty good and heavy on the concept of romance. Quote
