1st Border Red Devil Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Hey, just wondering if anyone knew if this was a pic of the prototype YF-19 or a production model VF-19A? I can't tell the difference....maybe some of you can. Quote
macplus Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 (edited) Looking at the shoulders it looks like the prototype, the crappy production ones from M7 had long and pointy shoulders. I don't think this is an official pic, it has a lot of errors, the cannards look weird for instance, however it's a very cool one. HTH Edited November 4, 2004 by macplus Quote
Skippy438 Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 I believe it's just well done fanart, at least I think that's what's been decided before Quote
Ido Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Definetly the CG gerwalk vf-19a Pic from VFX-2 photoshopped The Vf-19 a isn't too different from the yf-19 however. Quote
Anubis Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 That image was from the Macross VF-X2 ads that circulated in US magazines before the release was cancelled, therefore it would be a VF-19A. The YF-19 and VF-19A were virtually identical anyway. It was only the F/S space models that had the changes made. Quote

Zero Enna Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 Macross Compendium: Shinsei Industry YF-19 Macross Compendium: Shinsei Industry VF-19 Excalibur There are a lot of cosmetic differences though... The changes aren't external , they're internal, and the compendium only say one significative change between the YF-19 2nd prototype and the VF-19a: - The main engine: YF-19: Two 42700 kg [x g] class (maximum instantaneous thrust in atmosphere; 67500 [64700] kg [x g] class in space) Shinnakasu Industry/P&W/Roice FF-2500E thermonuclear turbine engines replacing two 56500 kg [x g] class (maximum instantaneous thrust in space) Shinsei Industry/P&W/Roice FF-2200B engines in beginning specifications. VF-19a: Two 56500 kg [x g] class Shinsei Industry/P&W/Roice FF-22s00 thermonuclear turbine engines in VF-19A. ) Quote
Max Jenius Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Man, the production models kicked ass. VF-19S > YF-19 Oh and the canards in the first pic look like they're at the wrong angle... Quote
LordSixx Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 That pic was done by some American graphic artist for a VFX US release when it was being planned for an American debut... obviously that was scrapped. Quote
