Interesting article on wireless energy for the future:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6129460.stm

Could mean you won't have to plug your wireless xbox 360 controllers into any kind of play and charge device when it can just be beamed.

So my whole idea that the VF-19 should have its wings detach for space to act as gundam bits (using the hip laser in the wing as the weapon) wasn't so crazy at all. :D

I would like to see valkyries with more use of drones like in macross II. Not just as cameras (macross plus) or as a booster, but as a "mini drone" like how they have micro missiles. Now the idea behind this is instead of using fancy flying manuevers like max does in his VF agaist a Qrau micromissile swarm, the pilot when he senses a swarm of micromissiles heading his way opens up a hatch that releases these micro-drones, armed with lasers just strong enough to shoot down the micromissiles for him while he transforms to bot mode to shoot them down with his gunpod. (ie see roy in macross zero as an example)

Because there isn't much to hide behind in space (no cover) these would be the ultimate defense against the "micromissile swarm of death", short of having a portable full barrier system on the valk that doesn't overload. Because they are tiny they would be quick enough for short range combat and could get in line to fire in time so there is little lag. They could also work in formation so they could shoot in true 3d and cover all the angles. In ground combat it might not be useful since they would have to keep themselves floating in the air, and you don't typically get attacked from strange angles (like below) when you are standing on something. But in space it could work in times when micromissiles surround the person from all angles, (above, below, and around you) but which you could only shoot in one direction at any one time which would be too late to cover you if they hit simultaneously from different directions. The advantage is the lasers the mini-drone shoot could be used more than once, if you rechage. And there would be no risk of damage to you from something "exploding in your face" that might happen if you try to have your own micromissile launched to chase an enemy micromissile.

they have the technology, they will rebuild her... she will freak me out...

kinda cool though.

This is nothing. Wait until you see the cranial implants devices or devices that run off that technology. My wife (a neuroscientist) did some research on a monkey at Arizona State that could move a robotic arm just by thinking. It had a cranial implant.

They also have one that can fly planes on a flight simulator just by thinking ala Gould Bowman from macross plus.

Those monkeys will do anything for food. Mean as all hell though.

I'm no chemist, but my BS meter is going off on that one.

I could be mistaken, but I think that this one was effectively debunked, the water torch is extremely inefficient because it takes so much more energy to split the water into hydrogen and oxygen. This guy's claim that he had created a method for efficiently dividing water molecules never materialized.

I wish it worked, what a wonderful technology that would be.

The 10 most impressive photographs of our universe

The very first responce to those amazing images: "Astology facinates me, however, these seem to be to much for my mind to take. The 'birth of a star' resembles the birth of a human to me"

ASTRONOMY not astorology. astrology is bunk.

Don't forget CAD work. This looks like it'll let me work ten times faster then with a mouse and keyboard. I currently work with two 19" screens. Put those in my desk with this system instead of on my desk and I'm in CAD heaven.

75-year-old pensioner has fastest broadband

Swedish woman enjoys record 40Gbps connection

Sigbritt is now able to enjoy 1,500 high-definition HDTV channels simultaneously. Or, if she doesn't find anything to watch there, there's also the option of downloading a full high-definition DVD in just two seconds.

The ultra-fast connection speed has been achieved by a new modulation technology. It allows data to be transferred directly between two routers up to 2,000 kilometres apart, without any intermediary transponders.
