Doktor Gonzo Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 That's the way to do it. But.... aren't final gathering and sourced lighting kind of mutually exclusive? Your results do speak for themselves, but I've found that adding actual light sources to a scene tends to cancel out the final gathering effect.... Quote
silentrage Posted September 16, 2003 Author Posted September 16, 2003 from this tutorial i saw, final gather tends to produce a more accurate global illumination effect in areas that light would slip into in the real world but won't be lit with lights in maya. I don't fully understand it yet but i just think of it as a good fill light. i think the right way to do it is FG just for lighting and use lights only for specular,. Quote
