lord_breetai Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 Oh yes the worst uniforms in Macross/Robotech history are A) The thing Hikaru is wearing here in DYRL and B) Hikaru's "NASA Space Suit" type outfit from Flashback 2012... compared to that... Basara and Louie and most certainly Max, are awesome. Quote

There wasn't a single outfit in DYRL that was anything less than spectacular (and the off-duty jumpsuits the pilots wore were hella better than the flight suits from the TV series) I certainly don't see how the fairy on page 4, or HG's hack of Breetai-the-bucket-wearer, or anyone else seen in the sentinels looks better... the flight suits were a blatant rip of DYRL and the uniforms were more spandex-hugging gayness. There was a single outfit in DYRL that was less then spectacular... and I ponted out what it was... at least in my opinion... I really like the TV series flight suits. I wasn't talking about Sent? Where did I mention sent? Basara and Max are from Macross 7 and Louie is from Shadow Force, where did you get sent from? And I've already displayed my lack of taste for the bucket. And yes I'm aware of the smilalarties between the DYRL flight suits and the Sent flight suits... the DYRL ones are better by far, I'm not going to argue that. And the sent uniforms were just pretty much southren cross uniforms so I don't see how one can diss the sent uniforms without dissing SC uniforms. But AGAIN I WAS NOT TALKING about sent... Keith called Shadow Force's uniforms gay and Agent called 7's uniforms gay... And while I don't think that any uniforms have sexual orientations... I don't find the off duty jump suit from DYRL or the Nasa like space suit from Flashback to be to my taste... I wouldn't want to wear them. Anyways I will resend the Robotech part of my statement cause there are Robotech uniforms I like less. Those are the two worst Macross uniforms in my opinion. As to if I'm on the right forum or not... better here then a Robotech forum anyday... I havn't even seen Robotech in years... why would I since I have Macross DVDs? lord_breetai Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 ....Agent called 7's uniforms gay... No I did NOT. Pay attention. I apologize you called them "the most feminine, useless, pathetic, design ever to be animated." And you called Max's jacket a dress... there is that better? I think the Sound Force uniforms are silly... but that suits them... the rest of the UN forces look fine though. Quote

I apologize you called them "the most feminine, useless, pathetic, design ever to be animated." And you called Max's jacket a dress... there is that better? ... Yes. I find the term "gay," when used as an insult, to be in poor taste. I am politically a suporter of gay rights, I donate my time and money to candidates who support gay rights, and I feel there are just better insults out there that don't exploit a group of people. Besides there are gay people that aren't sissy or lame, they just chose a little different than I do. Quote

bsu legato Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 The new version of Janice Whoa there...the same "Janice" from The Sentinels? The same Sentinles that HG and its fans have disavowed? Doesn't it seem a tad hypocritical to anybody that HG will turn its nose up at Sentinles on one hand, then gleefully raid it for characters and such? And then to change the entire character so much, why even retain the name at all? Does this mean that we can expect to see a completely redesigned and reimagined Jack Baker (who has no relation to the Sentinels character at all, save the name)? Quote

Does this mean that we can expect to see a completely redesigned and reimagined Jack Baker (who has no relation to the Sentinels character at all, save the name)? Well... it was stated more than once by HG that if they ever revisited the period covered in The Sentinels, it would be reimagined almost from top to bottom. I guess some stuff would be saved.... ::shrugs:: I'm not hot about the whole holo-camouflage deal myself. Besides which, there is evidence in Robotech that the UEG built what we might call Androids. Louie makes reference to them in The Trap. I don't know if this is the same Janice as before....all I know is that this design bears little resemblance to the original. Quote

lord_breetai Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Well Tommy has said the scope of the sent movie is harmless enough and that the Regent does exist in cannon Robotech... so I'm assuming the idea is to make it so you can take or leave the sent movie as you see fit as a fan until such time as they redo it... at least that's my understanding. Quote
Godzilla Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 The sentintels was full of crap. They took all the Alphas, Betas, and the hovertanks. So why did Leonard get the Hovertanks and AJAX in Robotech Masters? Oh wait, they needed for continuity b/c Robotech is a rip off from 3 japanese anime pieced together as one series. *slaps head on forehead* Oh now it makes sense... (oh yeah I am dripping in sarcasm.) The Sentinels were an after thought to capitalize the success of Robotech. It is that when I read Art 3, a lot of WTFs and questions popped up in my mind. And then read some of the Jack McKenna books. (OMG the memories, the horror in reading it.... AHHHHHHHHHHH!) I assume that the new series will not follow Jack McKenna storyline that ended Robotech? According to McKenna, the SDF-3 was in another dimension and so forth. Dana and the 15th Squad met up with REF. Before the final jump to free Earth, Everyone on the SDF-3 including Max, Miriya, Vince, Janice, Louie, Dante, Dana, Rick, Lisa, some of the other Sentinel characters b/c Dante was in love with some Praxis Zena warrior chick. They find the SDF-1 Engines (does alot of good here.) The good Dr. Lang and Louie then argued who was to become some new life force or some crap because of Protoculture is in everyone or something. (been a while since read the book. Still trying to get it out of my mind.) So how in the hell does Louie get into this new series since it started off he was lost like the rest of the damn crew of the sdf-3?!?!? Scott Bernard went searching and then came back to Earth to do the horizontal mambo with the Invid chick Ariel. Lancer's GF, Sera, faded away because of no protoculture. Rand and Rook already got hitched and they were expecting. Blah, blah... In the end they all met up and return to Earth where Lisa awaits to command the new SDF-4 they are building. Christ... the world of Robotech gets more !@#$ed up. Talk about continuity issues. After watching Macross I am glad I converted over. At least the storyline made more sense. Quote
lord_breetai Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Godzilla thats like End of the Circle you're channeling there... myself couldn't get past the first chapter.... nope EOTC and Rubicon are most certainly gone... and Before the Invid storm... and well all the books and anything sent except possibly the movie (and as that was the only good part... makes sense). Even Janice not having an outer-disguise can be explained if you want to keep the movies... she needed one before when she was Minmei's sining partner and was top-secret... where she dosn't need one now... just like in Sent the SDF-3 needed an outer shell as a diguise to get past the Master's outer defences... where as the shell will be gone when they find it and it can look like anything. They can do a lot with the sent characters and mecha and not disvaladate the movie. Quote

macplus Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 (edited) Sorry guys.... if there's any porno in this it would be Bucket head with Ricky and the one who wins goes with Maxy... I recall that in the sentinels all the characters turned into a bunch of pussies, very Robotesque. By the way, the Janice crap looks indeed like Freza's sister.... or maybe Cooler's daughter... and if that was not enough ripping if you cut that stupid face she looks like Rei Ayanami.... I wonder who's gonna be the next sorry ass character who gets to wear THE Bucket... and if they're gonna include the double turd looking SDF-3... Edited November 2, 2004 by macplus Quote
Keith Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Hmm, this is pretty bold of HG. What a sly way to work in the U.N. Spacy logo that they aren't allowed to use in new animation. All they have to do is claim that it's part of a larger tri-logo. Interesting. Quote
RichterX Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 So instead of using one logo, now they use it as the triforce of Zelda? Quote
Keith Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Looks that way, though I can't believe they're trying it. What else will they do??? Quote

CoryHolmes Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 Or it could be the REF triangle insignia, just as plain as day. Take out the stylized "M" for Mars Division and you get a pretty decent regular triangle, just like the top of that station. Of course, either answer is just as acceptable. We simply won't know more until the show actually comes out. Quote
