NoSuchFile Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 wasnt the ghost designed decades after the VF-0? Actually, the UNS used Ghosts drones during the space war one, and yes, the one in Macross Plus is also a Ghost, but that's the Ghost X-9 Quote
Aurel Tristen Posted October 24, 2004 Author Posted October 24, 2004 wasnt the ghost designed decades after the VF-0? Which Ghost are you referring to? There are than half dozen known Ghosts. The QF-2001 was in service during the United Nations Wars. This one, the QF-2200D was in use during 2008. Quote
ewilen Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 (edited) In particular, we see the QF-2001 launching from a carrier in episode three. http://macross.anime.net/mecha/united_nati...2001/index.html And the QF-3000E is shown in SDF Macross, episode 1. Although I don't think they're actually shown on screen after that episode, there is a reference to them in "Miss Macross", I believe. It's implied (or stated) that Hikaru's patrol mission, in which he encounters the Quel-Quallie, involves leading/controlling/escorting some Ghosts. Edit: I may be misremembering about the reference to Ghosts in "Miss Macross". At least, I've seen a comment elsewhere on the net that a Ghost appears in episode 24 ("Good-Bye Girl"). Yes, they are shown again on screen in various battles, they are shown quickly and are hard to miss. Hikaru takes an Armored load-out (GBP-1S-equipped VF-1J) out for recon instead of standard Ghost escort. At the beginning of this episode (Miss Macross), we see a few Ghosts flying around or by the Macross. Quote
ewilen Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Messages crossed in the mail, as it were. Yes, that all makes sense, Nanashi. Thanks. Quote

Graham Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Very interesting translation Nanashi. Thanks. So the big pods on the inner wing pylons are 'Intermediate Range Mobile Missile Pods'. I'd assumed that they were fuel tanks. Oh well, with the booster and all those extra missile pods, but no extra fuel tanks, the VF-0 SAC is going to be one short-ranged plane. Graham Quote
ewilen Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 "VF-1" appears twice in the translation. The first time makes sense to me, but the second time, However, there were also many unknown elements because the main wing of the VF-1 and the Ghost interfered intricately at the time of high speed and a large welcoming angle. Are you sure that shouldn't be "VF-0"? Quote

KingNor Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 nanashi, think you could add paragraph breaks in there? the text is pretty hard to read in one big block like that. a bigger font might help too.. Quote
newca Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Is this Ghost appeared in ep3, lauched from Asuka? what about new Mig-29 variant in ep5? Quote
ewilen Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 No, it's a different kind of Ghost. That was a QF-2001, this is a QF-2200D which has been partially gutted. Quote
Graham Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 Who you gonna call?GHOST-BOOSTERS!! LOL.....well I guess the AFOS definitely counts as being 'something strange in the neighborhood'. Graham Quote

I think those are actually QF-2200As used for the Ghost Boosters. The QF-2200D variants might be the most current versions. Quote
