She might be even more upset if she found out what I was really doing (he he, she thinks I have a life!). I quickly have a window full of porn ready to pop up just in case she enters the room and sees me doing modelling. And I’d just like to say….I love you guys everyone of ya!!! Production sketches are only for a VF-X-4 and a VF-4G model (Digital Mission VF-X era model).Boxer, if you're around, could you get on this. I guess that was for ships though. The Commander Variant in the SHE kit, from what Nanashi had told me, was canon because it was one of the few SHE kits that Kawamori had design input. The thing on the head looks like a laser to me, and makes sense considering most of the VFs around the time of the VF-4G were incorporating rear-arc head lasers, presumably for protection. Finally, unless you have a burning desire to complete the unwrap and texturing yourself, I'd be more than happy to finish the unwrap and texturing on the VF-4 for the mod. I could probably even whip out the heads/other transformation pieces if this model is supposed to transform. I'm no gamer, but I love all things VF-4.

Once we succeed in getting the Macross in-game, we will have a beta, perhaps not the most successful, enjoyable to play beta, but you will get to play with the eye candy.

The short answer is: I did complete the modelling. The long answer is: I lost the last 4 months of work when I took a break from Macross for a few years. I've since been trying to re-build from my last saved point. This time texturing as I go. With some additional maps (specular, bump, etc,) it'll look slick as a photo-real render rather than the ink 'n paint I'm doing for the comic.
Lestat Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I don't know how you've managed to reconcile Fighter mode with Battroid. As far as I can tell, it gets complicated with the undercarriage and upper legs, and the head is always too small... I know what you mean about dataloss. That happened to me with my high poly calliara model. I had one completed version once with a finished bridge, including the inside stations of it. I was gonna make a cool animation, with the Ghost II launch sequence. I did a prelim and everything.

I’m going to do a little more tweaking and then add the rifle. Let us know what you think, its based on a couple of drawings I got hold of as you can see in the top left panel of the modelling screen. This has been a very difficult model to articulate because just about every representation of it shows conflicting sizes etc. Hope the hardcore aren’t too pisst cause I had to improvise on what I didn’t know! I’m sure the nameless advisor will burn my ass for it later through At the moment it stands at 1770 after 3Ds conversion which is pretty good for the amount of articulation it contatins.

Kawamori has not said that the VF-4 Battroid mode was specifically or only for the VF-4G. He simply completed the design. There is nothing wrong with the head. Boxer Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 Well, just because I can, I'm gonna wave this fan-made Zjent frigate in front of everyone; When I first presented it the team liked it, brightened it up and reposted. She's supposed to be stronger than a picket but smaller than the destroyers... a light destroyer if it was possible. Then again if we go with what Nanashi says, she'll never fly. In fact, I don't think my talents would be useful at all if we're adopting ships from outside DYRL (VF-4, resourcers). It was once considered that a Protoculture force could be used, and I can see where my tallents would be applied there, but otherwise there is no pressing need for new things that I can think of (aside from the harvester fleets).

It's too bad Studio Kappa is disolved, you would have made an excellent member. You still could extrapolate from the ships seen in Flashback when the megaroad launches. We have no design sketches for those... And they would give us a more accurate picture of what UN Spacy ships ought to look like in the aftermath of the war.
