Or maybe to his boob fighter pilot friends who also pilot their fighters with guitars and drums. How about them Keith? How about stupid Cthulu-esque monsters that can be stopped by just singing Kumbaya?
Keith Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 So what you're saying is, you hate Breasts, Guitar's, and monsters of rock? Everything America stands for, you red communist nazi!

Roy Focker Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 He might be refering to the Commie-Nazi which started as the chief villians in the McBain movie featured in a scene of the Simpsons (when it was funny).
Druna Skass Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 So this is Rick Hunter 332340 The front of that ship looks like they ripped it off from the White Base. Those grey uniforms in the comic scans look like spandex versions of the Earth Alliance uniforms. I'd comment on the whole RT vs Macross 7 thing, but let's not send this thread to the trash.
1st Border Red Devil Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 (edited) The front of that ship looks like they ripped it off from the White Base. You mean this design here, from which that drop ship is partially based, right? Those grey uniforms in the comic scans look like spandex versions of the Earth Alliance uniforms. Oh, you mean the Colonel Wolfe flashback uniform we see from Eulogy Edited September 30, 2005 by 1st Border Red Devil
Hurin Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 (edited) Uh. . . Nazis were Socialists, not capitalists. Nazi is short for "National Socialist Party." Fascism also describes them well. . . though that was techically the ideology of Mussolini's Italy. Yes, the terms Nazi and Fascist are largely interchangable nowadays (and you could say that the Nazis were fascist socialists as well). But, you could hardly describe them as capitalists. A society where the state is all doesn't leave much room for private enterprise or ownership. Edit: Oddly, the Nazis had an instituational fear and hatred of Communists. Even though, as Socialists, they were both on the stateist side of the political spectrum where economics were concerned and both needed to use brutal (fascist) police-states to maintain order under such systems. Oh, you mean the Colonel Wolfe flashback uniform we see from Eulogy 332852 Well if their intention was to base it off of the Ikazuchi-class, they ended up making the bow look like they took it from White Base. The image is too gritty to see any detail in Wolf's unifom. Either way the coloring and shoulder patches make it look like Alliance uniforms.
yellowlightman Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Well if their intention was to base it off of the Ikazuchi-class, they ended up making the bow look like they took it from White Base. 332856 Considering how much Macross "borrowed" from Gundam, that's not the best complaint.

yellowlightman Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 But the Ikazuchi was from Mospeada.... 332866 I meant that in the typical Macross-fan-bashing-Robotech context, it was a bit hypocritical.
1st Border Red Devil Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 Well if their intention was to base it off of the Ikazuchi-class, they ended up making the bow look like they took it from White Base. No, its a design thats been with Mospeada from the beginning. Of course, it looks inspired by the White Base, but saying it looks ripped off is not only stupid, it shows a lack understanding about the anime world. The design in question was seen in a pan shot during the opening segment of Mospeada. They are the ships in-between the MARS III Orbital Armoury and the IZUM-series logistics ships, almost like a chopped in half-Ikazuchi. Tommy just made the forward end conform to the doors present on the forward end of the Ikazuchi's. The image is too gritty to see any detail in Wolf's unifom. Either way the coloring and shoulder patches make it look like Alliance uniforms.332856 No, the colouring is that same slate blue/grey that most Mars Base uniforms have been for years. The cut of the uniform is basically the same, though it appears Wolfe's has epaulettes not present on the newer UEEF uniform. The Mars Base triangle is there, they've just added three circles to differentiate it from the regular Mars Base insignia and now says United Earth Expeditionary Force. So, I don't really see what the problem is.
Druna Skass Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 (edited) saying it looks ripped off is not only stupid, it shows a lack understanding about the anime world. 332880 Oh excuse me Otaku Grand Master. I apologise for haveing more things to devote my time to than the anime world. Fact of the matter it, it still looks like White Base and in my opinion those uniforms still looks like spandex versions of Earth Alliance uniforms. I meant that in the typical Macross-fan-bashing-Robotech context, it was a bit hypocritical. I'm only saying it looks like they took it from the front of the White Base and the grey color and red and yellow on the shoulders of the uniforms look like Alliance uniforms. Your implication being Robotech's current crop of artists ripped those designs off, are totally unoriginal blah, blah, fragging blah. Right? Eventhough I pointed out that both came from Mospeada.
JsARCLIGHT Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 So... what's the "official" story on pinky? Have we found that out yet?
Odyn Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 So... what's the "official" story on pinky? Have we found that out yet? 333106 It's confirmed as Rick Hunter by comicscontinuum.com. Myself I was hoping it was Reinhart, but when that cover for issue four came out, I knew it had to be Rick. Here is a link to a less pink verison. Less pink Rick All of the Robotech characters are getting a redesign for Shadow Chronicles, makes sense it's been twenty years after all. BlagChaos over at Robotech.com shared with masses the following links Cover or http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/050.../robotech1c.jpg page 1 or http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/050.../robotech11.jpg page 2 or http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/050.../robotech12.jpg page 3 or http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/050.../robotech13.jpg A mini quick review can be found at this blog with spoilers. http://sdf5x.blogspot.com/
JsARCLIGHT Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 People already said it was Dick Hunter. My question was "why is he pink?". All we have so far is idle speculations. My feelings as stated before are that no professional design staff, no matter how hated by anyone, would not intentionally release something like that into the wilds of the internet without a reason. Is this a Star Wars trading card C3PO's donger situation? Did someone else take that image into a paint program and make it pink? We've already ruled out lame excuses like "oh it's a bad scan" or "someone shifted all the colors" as many people (myself included) fiddled with the image to try and produce a "correct" color scheme. I just want to know if this is someone pulling a fast one or if the design staff behind this already festering turd are really that stupid. Every time I come back into this thread I have to look at that pic again and again just to see for myself that it is indeed pink. How does someone miss that?
