Kurt Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Hello again everyone. I thought I would post the latest custom I just finished. Another Moon Act Minmay Guard Valk. This is pretty much just like the previous one I did. Let me know what you think. Enjoy! Quote
Veritas Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I'm not sure what you did to make the valk look weathered like that, but it really makes the valk stand out on its own. Nice job! Quote
JoLe727 Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Wow!!! Awesome!!! I noticed the arrow on the VF-1S head is not painted. Should it be painted?? Anyway, good job!!! Hope to save enough money so you can customize my valks... Quote

Kurt Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 Wow, super-nice. Likewise, how did you weather the Valk proper? Kinda looks like pastels... Not pastels. I used an oil wash for the panel lines and post shaded with Tamiya smoke. Quote

Ido Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Beautiful! How do you paint the Gu-11? do you take apart it or just masking? Quote
Kurt Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 Beautiful! How do you paint the Gu-11? do you take apart it or just masking? Do you mean the gun pod? I just mask off the red marker light and paint it just like the rest of the valk. Quote
Jawjaw Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I think that is your best work, Kurt, and the coolest custom I have seen. Tremendous. Quote
Jemstone Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 That's incredible work! Sometimes I think your craft surpasses even Jung's. Quote
Kurt Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 That's incredible work! Sometimes I think your craft surpasses even Jung's. I wouldn't say that. Jung does some very nice work. Everyone has their own style, which appeals to different people. Quote
DOM Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 That's awesome! Haven't done any custom for a while and see so many awesome customs in 1/48 scale ! Two thumbs up DOM P.S. Still haven't seen any 2500th Valk custom so far in 1/48 scale Quote
Wheels Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 DAMN! That's beautiful! You can tell alotta TLC went into that fantastic peice of art. My friend, you indeed have a talent, as this goes far beyond mere skill. Quote
Neova Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Kurt, BEAUTIFUL as always. Keep them coming and don't ever stop. Quote
wm cheng Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Fantastic work Kurt!! It looks great, how is the post shading holding up? I've been thinking about doing a little bit of weathering/post shading on my Yamato too, but I've been worried that through handling and transformations, the very light post-shading might scrape off at where the parts rub - even with a clear coat. What do you do to protect it against these scrapes? Does it hold up well? Keep up the great work. Wm Quote

I usually tend to do more pre then post shading. However with pre-shading I think the subject tends to look more weathered, which wasn't the look I was going for with this. I personally do not own any of the customs I have done. They are all commission jobs. I can tell you that I have had no complaints, so the paint I would assume is holding up fine. I apply a coat of future over the whole valk and then I follow that up with Polly S flat. Quote
Majestic Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Astounding work! God damn that looks good. The gunpod looks especially detailed (along with the whole valk). Fine work. Quote
Dat Pinche Haro! Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 i really like how this one turned out...you did a better job decalling this one than the other minmay gaurd...the decals look more like they're painted on...very beautiful custom...didn't really like the color scheme but you really made this version of the minmay guard look good Quote
