GreenGuy42 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I think it goes without saying that this is rather sad. I mean, the man practially defined persistence, considering he never did give up on his own handicap, let alone others in his situation. He will be missed
Chuey Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 The man who has probably done the best portrayal as the Man of Steel has passed away. Rest in peace Christopher Reeve. Along with portraying a larger than life hero, he proved a strong advocate for spinal cord research. You will be missed. 'Superman' star Christopher Reeve dies at age 52
Agent ONE Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Tradition dictates that we shouldn't have RIP threads, but maybe this should be an acception since he was a Sci-Fi star.
Pat S Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 (edited) Tradition dictates that we shouldn't have RIP threads, but maybe this should be an acception since he was a Sci-Fi star. What Sci-Fi movie was he in again? Fantasy star is more like it... Other Anime or Fantasy forum, where we talk about Hobbits and Dragons! Edit: RIP Mr. Reeve. Edited October 11, 2004 by Pat S
eugimon Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Very sad about his passing. Even more than Star Wars, the first Superman movie with reeve was my all time favorite movie as a small child. I have many fond memories of running around in my superman costume, my cape fluttering behind me... jumping from bunk bed and humming the theme to myself. Even now, when I think about Superman, Christopher Reeve is the version I remember. More recently, his incredibly brave and public battle with spinal cord injury had me believing that this man, who made me believe that a man could fly, could walk again. RIP
Bad Mother Focker Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 This guy was my childhood hero! I was running around my house in my superman costume pretending I was Chrostopher Reeve. What's really tragic is his last Superman Movie, Superman 4: The Quest for Peace, was one of the worst movies ever made. RIP Chris Reeve. When pondering his death, for some weird reason (reflex?) the following words came out of my mouth... "It's Mr. Mischief with a trick up his sleeve To roll up on you like Christopher Reeves"
Macross_Fanboy Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Man, for what it's worth, he gave people that have the same handi-cap as him some hope. And he helped commence new medical research. The world is a better place thanks to him, even if it was just by a little. RIP Superman.
Mercurial Morpheus Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 This is truly tragic news. I may not be much of a Superman fan, but he really was one. RIP, Christopher Reeve. You shall be greatly missed
orguss01 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 "Dont worry i got you ..." "YOU got me....Whos got you??????""" This guy is/was responsible for millions of kids around the world running around and jumping off couches in their underware with towels around thier necks.......
UN Spacy Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 RIP Christopher Reeve. You've given endless children the dreams to fly high and mighty. You will be missed throughout the world.
Gui Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Even now, when I think about Superman, Christopher Reeve is the version I remember. +1 R.I.P., man: you'll be missed...
eriku Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Damn, I was almost certain that one of these days it would be announced that CR could walk again. If anyone could pull themselves out of such a handicap it seemed that CR could.
DARKWIND Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 The one true "Supes". . . Not many could really takes his place. . . Not sure if any could. . . He will be missed. . .
007-vf1 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Condolences to the family and fans 'Superman' made history and it will be missed...
Jemstone Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 What a great Monday morning it's been. I get up only to see Katie Couric say "Christopher Reeve has died. Superman is dead." That's not what I want to hear first thing in the morning. Thanks for the memories, Chris.
isamu_dyson Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Repose en paix............... he was a great man, and an icon .........
lt.actionjackson Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Christopher Reeve was a brave man who will be fondly missed. When I bought my son's Superman costume for Halloween this year, I hummed the old movie theme to myself and thought of Reeve. Godspeed Superman
VALKYRIE-EXCHANGE.COM Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Wow...Really sad news to hear....I always loved his role as Superman and enjoyed his cameo appearances in Smallville Rest in Peace.... -Kevin
BlueMax Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 *Stands at attention and gives best salute to the man who made superman came alive.*
AlphaHX Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 (edited) I too thought he was going to walk one day. I never thought this day was going to come this soon. He'll always be the one and only Superman to me. Rest in peace Christopher Reeve... Edited October 12, 2004 by AlphaHX
Blaine23 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 This makes me quite sad. Not so much because he was Superman to me as a kid, but because of the courage and strength that his life has shown in the years after his accident. It's a sad day.
BoBe-Patt Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 rest in peace Christopher Reeve. Sad day indeed
KingNor Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 i had one of those weird dreams last night where you're hearing something on the radio and you dream about it. cuz i had a dream C.R. died. freaky. to me being a quadropalegic is a fate worse than death, but i guess that just shows my own weakness.
Mechamaniac Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 That truly sucks. I firmly believed...like many I'm sure... that he would walk again one day. I never had a doubt in my mind. It sucks that time caught up with him before he kicked fate's ass.
