route242 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 I was wondering when the series ended was there a demand from Japanese people to continue the story of Minmei, Hikaru and Misa? Then there was Flashback 2012 the music video with all new clips and their lives after the tv series. Where did it said that Megazroad went to hyperspace and disappear. I didn't see that in the music video. Where was that info from? I feel cheated that they did excellent job on the all new animation from Flashback 2012 and that is it for the sequel to the original Macross. All that new designs for Hikaru, Minmei, Misa and the Megaroad. All that time and money just for a music video. Quote
ewilen Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 This is a FAQ/newbie question. You might try using the search feature, where you'll find a lot of previous discussion. Anyway, Kawamori has said in interviews/panels that the Megaroad SDF-2 lost contact with Earth. This is the official story as noted in the Chronology (2016). Kawamori stated this at least as early as 1998. Among the real-world reasons that have been cited include Kawamori's disinterest in rehashing old characters, the death of the voice actor for Hikaru, and the desire of Minmei's VA to avoid getting pigeonholed in the role. azrael Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 Although, Kawamori did use another voice actor for Hikaru in the PS2 game. However, IMO, I don't believe he was proud to the fact that he had to find a new voice actor, but since the role was limited it was something he could live with. As for Mrs. Ijima, she has moved away from her one-time role as a voice actor. She's not a voice actor by trade so it's not surprising that she has stepped out of that profession and focused more on singing. Although, most of the singers who I've heard do some voice acting, don't sound as good as a professional voice actor. (Megumi Hayashibara is a VA by trade, singer second, so she sounds much better doing voice over's). Quote
Hikuro Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 He found another VA? I thought Kawamori just had them take Snipits from the original Vocal tracks from the series and movie since we didn't really ever see a new scene where he spoke alot....I mean he has over a thousand "Roger" "Heh" and "Macross" spoken lines, not to mention the audio quality of those don't sound up to par in my opinion. Remember, this is the game and Hikaru is not the focus of the PS2 game. Quote
Renato Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 In some other older Macross PC games Hikaru is played by another actor, too. Quote
