Kamineko Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I hardly see any love for the Yammie stand. Well, here is my contribution . . . Quote
Kamineko Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 Has anyone successfully mounted a Q-Rau to the Yammie stand? Any advice appreciated! Quote
UN Spacy Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Aren't your palms sweating when you see your Valkyries hanging like that? From what I've heard it isn't very safe from THAT mounting position. Pretty though. Straight out of DYRL. Quote
Toonz Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 how did you manage to hang it upside down without breaking the backpack attachment? Quote
VF-19 pilot!!! Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 that's a good guestion...how? Quote
Skull Leader Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 wow... that would scare the hell out of me if I walked in and someone had mounted my yammies up like that.... you have far bigger balls than I sir! Excellent display! Quote
Mechamaniac Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Yes, please tell us how you got your Valk mounted like that. That will be all the reason I need to go ahead, and get the Yammie stand! Quote
sleddogg83 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I could do that with a banpresto or toynami valk but not a Yam. Too scared it would fall. Quote
Kamineko Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 Its not attached to the backpack . . . The actual mounting interface is inserted under the backpack. Quote
Knight26 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Hey good idea, is that point strong enough to hold it for extended periods though? Quote
Kamineko Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 Hey good idea, is that point strong enough to hold it for extended periods though? It should be, the surface area is essentially the entire back of the Yammie. My goal with this is to be able to get some measurements off this and eventually make the mount actually clamp onto the diecast portion of the 1/48. The one drawback to this setup is that the legs are extremely floppy. Quote
Eternal_D Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 dang, I like that, could be a real good space saver for my 1/48s Quote
Kamineko Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 dang, I like that, could be a real good space saver for my 1/48s Hah! Thats my main inspiration. I needed to get it off my desktop. Quote
Knight26 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I just thought of something, waht do you have it hanging from, how is it suspended from that shelf? Quote
hirohawa Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 More details! That is too frickin cool! Quote
EXO Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 It's all done with wires??? Tricksie hobbits! Quote
Kamineko Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 I just thought of something, waht do you have it hanging from, how is it suspended from that shelf? I took apart the base and drilled a hole in it. I stuck a screw into it thats long enough to go through the shelf which has a bolt on the other end. Quote
Toonz Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 how then, are you going to detach the valk from the stand? Quote
Renato Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 That looks awesome. The stand should have been designed to display Valks like that in the first place. Although it looks better upside down, or sideways, to make it look more like the movie. Quote
Armor Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Cool. I wanted to know if the fast pack would fit in the claw. Time to get mine. BTW. Really cool trick. Quote
promethuem5 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 wow. you couldnt pay me to pu my 1/48 like that. nuh uh. good idea on the wire frame to support it tho. Looks nice, just like DYRL Quote
Mechamaniac Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Coathangers....is there anything they can't do? Quote
zeo-mare Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 i love it i think i have to get one of these how then, are you going to detach the valk from the stand? Toonz the bolt is in the base of the yamato stand to keep it hooked to the wall that it is attached to, not the valk itself it looks like the wire simply wraps around the valk and holds it in place and can simply be unhooked. i am definetly liking that Quote
Wabbit Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 And to be really safe, put a big cushion under it. Permanently. Quote
zeo-mare Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 And to be really safe, put a big cushion under it. Permanently. tongue.gif you got that right Quote

The stand should have been designed to display Valks like that in the first place.Although it looks better upside down, or sideways, to make it look more like the movie. The joints of the stand are too weak to support the weight of the 1/48 at any extreme angle. I am tempted to glue the stand in a fixed position. You can get it upside down if you just leave it on your desktop . . . Quote
Blaine23 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Man... each day you guys find a new way to make me feel more unimaginative... I just looked and set the thing up right side up... so stupid... Great job, looks good. Quote
