Agent ONE Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 At first I thought there was a serious political adgenda behind this movie, but after seeing the latest trailer, I would say there obviously isn't. Quote
melancholic Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 (edited) Are they saving the jokes for the movie or what? The only thing humorous besides the marionettes moving in their standard puppet manner has been that bit with Kim Jong Il barely being able to speak. I certainly hope there is more to it than that, but the trailers aren't showing it. Edited September 13, 2004 by melancholic Quote
yellowlightman Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 At first I thought there was a serious political adgenda behind this movie, but after seeing the latest trailer, I would say there obviously isn't. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are generally pretty bi-partisan when it comes to politics. There's a lot of political commentary in South Park, but looking at all the thinsg you've said you can't really pin them down to being overly left or right. Quote
areaseven Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 From the Irish Examiner: Penn 'helped' Team AmericaFilm-makers Matt Stone and Trey Parker have thanked Sean Penn for vociferously objecting to their new film Team America: World Police - because it's given the film free publicity. When the Oscar-winner discovered his anti-war views were being parodied in the puppet picture, Penn fired off a letter to the pair - also responsible for animated TV series South Park - ending it with the words "f**k off". But Parker and Stone are thrilled with the publiciy Penn's outburst have given the film. Parker says: "There isn't anything he could have done to help us more. Like, he helped the movie so much. Like, he released this letter and it gets picked up all over." And from The Mercury News: 'Team America' won't play in South KoreaZap2it.com LOS ANGELES - - The marionette action spoof "Team America: World Police" doesn't have global appeal. Although the film is notoriously offensive and mocks North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, South Koreans aren't put off due to bruised sensibilities or politics. Instead, it's the country's highly competitive film market that has squeezed out the American movie by the creators of "South Park," according to The Hollywood Reporter. "There are no plans to release 'Team America' at this time," says Douglas Lee, general manager of United International Pictures Korea. With a growing entertainment industry, local films have become more popular than the Hollywood offerings that were mainstays in the past. Recent American films that weren't able to infiltrate the South Korean market include "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "Bringing Down the House" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." Overall, local Korean films are bringing in over 58 percent of the box office take versus the 40 percent accounted for from Hollywood films. Even if "Team America" did get screened, it's not likely it would perform well. Besides the very specific American references, South Korea doesn't necessarily support overt criticism of North Korea even though they are technically at war. "Team America" debuted this past weekend in third place with $12.3 million. Quote

areaseven Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Music From the Motion Picture Team America: World Police Atlantic Records, 2004 Produced by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Scott Rudin America, F**k Yeah! Comin' again to save the motherf**king day, yeah! America, F**k Yeah! Freedom is the only way, yeah! Track Listing 1. Everyone Has AIDS 2. Freedom Isn't Free 3. America, F**k Yeah 4. Derka Derk (Terrorist Theme) 5. Only a Woman 6. I'm So Ronery 7. America, F**k Yeah (Bummer Remix) 8. The End of an Act 9. Montage 10. North Korean Melody 11. The Team America March 12. Lisa & Gary 13. F.A.G. 14. Putting a Jihad on You 15. Kim Jong Il 16. Mount, Rush, More Tracks 1-10 composed by Trey Parker and Mark Shaiman Tracks 11-16 composed by Harry Gregson-Williams Lowdown If you've seen Team America: World Police, chances are you can't get enough of the movie's offensively hilarious songs. Well, nearly three weeks after the film's release, the soundtrack is now available in stores (while it's been available online since October 19). Freedom isn't free. It costs folks like you and me And if we don't all chip in, we'll never pay that bill. Freedom isn't free. No, there's a hefty f**king fee. And if you don't throw in your buck o'five, who will? Why such a long delay for the soundtrack? Apparently, the original score composed by Mark Shaiman (South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut)) was rejected three weeks before the film's release date. Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek 1-2, Metal Gear Solid 2-3) was hired to compose a different score at the last minute. I'm so ronery. So ronery. So ronery and sadry arone. Dere's no one, just me onry, sitting on my rittle throne... The soundtrack CD features nearly all of the songs from the film (unfortunately, Kim Jong Il's ending theme "You Are Worfless, Arec Baldwin" didn't make it on the playlist). You'll jam to Team America's anthem "America, F**k Yeah" and laugh your way through "Everyone Has AIDS" (Gary's song from "Lease: The Musical"), "I'm So Ronery" (Kim Jong Il's theme), "The End of an Act" (a.k.a. "Pearl Harbor Sucked") and "Montage" (Gary's training theme). The last six tracks are Gregson-Williams' contribution to the film, which sound like they were rejected from the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater score. Still, the BGM fits perfectly with the movie. (Of course, due to copyright limitations, "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" by Tomoyasu Hotei (first heard in Kill Bill vol. 1) is not included in this CD.) Is the CD worth buying? F**k yeah! Go to your nearest store and get this soundtrack now. Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies. I guess Pearl Harbor sucked Just a little bit more than I miss you. areaseven Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Team America: World Police hit stores yesterday. Who picked up their copy? As for those interested in finding out what's inside the Unrated version, the sex scene is worse than porn. Consider yourself warned. Quote

I picked up the unrated version, watched it last night. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard watching a movie. And yeah, the puppet sex scene in the unrated version is pretty bad... and that just made it that much funnier. Extras aren't all that hot, though. Quote

JKeats Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Gotta agree, I really don't remember laughing this hard at a movie in a long time. Probably the last time this happened was when I saw White Chicks but I was probably drunk when I saw it. Quote
