kanedaestes Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Now, the pilot in a vf-1 sits in the chest area in battroid mode, how does he get there? i mean i know the pilot seat rotates up, but then wait does it move up and then back into a chamber or something? Quote
NoSuchFile Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 It doesn't go anywhere, it rotates and that's it. Quote
Hurricane29 Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 It doesn't go anywhere, it rotates and that's it. Thus the heatshield is used. Quote
kanedaestes Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 uh but in the series, when breetai tore off the front of the battroid of hikaru's valk, he was actually sitting behind in the chest, not the nose Quote
KingNor Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 uh but in the series, when breetai tore off the front of the battroid of hikaru's valk, he was actually sitting behind in the chest, not the nose its a cartoon not a tech drawing class. they probably did that so the pilot woudln't look all weird down in the crotch of the plane. anime MaGiC Quote
Radd Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Take a look at the Valkyrie design again, the cockpit is on the fuselage, not all the way to the front of the nose. Also, the chest plate slides down, partially obscuring the cockpit in battroid mode. Add to that, like has already been mentioned, the animation in SDF Macross is very low budget and a lot of mistakes appear in the animation. Quote

polidread Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 and the Brain Powerd anime too. the girl pilots ride in the cockpit crotch area. Quote
Shmitty Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 (edited) If you look at the 1/48's and use DYRL? as a reference you can see that the seat does only rotate. Looking at the 1/48 trasformed to battroid without the heatshield will show that if the seat rotated the pilots head would be just behind the front of the airbrake where the hinge is. Accordingly, when Roy gets the cockpit panel smashed into him by Kamujin, Kamujin hits the airbrake and roy gets smashed from front and slightly above, reinforcing that the cockpit does in fact only rotate. sharky Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 To much crotch piloting can lead to blindness Quote
Vince Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 I always thought the chest armor move forward to cover part of the cockpit, and give room for the lights and the head to come up . To think of it, the pilot sit is right below the head and behind the air brake. kind of like vf-0. check zero ep.1 Quote
lutesla Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 I remeber that animation sequesce... the bit where the chest is ripped off. Those episodes were always some of my favorite, evgen if they were in the American Robotech franchise. If I remember correctly... The heat shield is connected to the chest plate, it would have to be cause that's where it decends from (behind the air brake). It stands to reason that if the chest plate were torn off, then the heat shield would go too. This means that the cockpit was equaly exposed, from all around. The monitor that decends over the rotated pilot seat obscured part of Britai's (sp?) face. He can be seen peeking around the dead monitor (remember, the head was smashed first... so the monitor had nothing to show). The cockpit would never live up to it's namesake by being like a ZOE mech (what is WITH that anyways?)... The pilot is in the VH-1's equivalent to our solar plexus. - Quote
kanedaestes Posted September 10, 2004 Author Posted September 10, 2004 see i knew i wasn't crazy, but then everyone says that the tv show isn't necessarily right. i know just rotation of the cockpit makes sense but i was just inquiring about that episode in general Quote
