Valkfan Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Hello all. A few days ago I saw this guy who had a Macross emblem on his truck so decided to mention that I was a fan and we started talking all things Macross. When we got to the topic of Bandai reissues, he mentioned that an acquaintance of his in Japan worked for Bandai. He went on to say that to his knowledge, Bandai had put UV inhibitors within the plastic due to their knowledge of the yellow valk syndrome. I was wondering if anyone else, especially our fellow members in Japan had heard anything about this? If not, maybe we could find out how to contact Bandai about this. Damn, I can remember a few years ago when I had contact information on Bandai regarding our interest in 1/55's. I believe the question that Bandai asked was "In what order would you like to see the 1/55's reissued in?" Does anybody else remember this? Was it posted on the old boards or in an online magazine? I'd assume that one could contact that same address to ask the question about UV inhibitors. Quote
KingNor Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 i think if this was true we'd have heard about it a while ago. Quote
bandit29 Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 (edited) Leave a reissue 1/55 in the sun and get back to us.. Contacting Bandai? About Macross ? Edited September 8, 2004 by dejr8bud Quote
Hurin Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I think this is just another way of saying that they used better quality plastic this time around. . . that wouldn't be as prone to yellowing. But, that's just a guess. H Quote

H It's a logical guess. It's also logical for manufacturers to improve their products, to start with the raw materials. Dang, I want an the U.N. Space Kite emblem on my car also! Or at least a small one on my rear window. Quote
Agent-GHQ Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 I did not know Bandai place UV inhibitors on the reissues. If this is true, then i'm happy to have the Valk reissues 1/55. What is more important to me is exactly how do we contact Bandai?? And if only Bandai ask those questions: "In what order would you like to see the 1/55's reissued in?" This would be my list: 1. VF-1S Strike Valk 1/55 2. VT-1 Elintseeker 1/55 3. Super Ostrich 1/55 4. VF-1S Valk GBP set 1/55 Darn, it was just a dream! Oh well like the saying goes: "Wishful Thinking." On the other hand, I just can understand how such a good company like Bandai improved so much on the reissues 1/55, yet they did not produce the other Valkyries above. Quote
Valkfan Posted September 9, 2004 Author Posted September 9, 2004 Leave a reissue 1/55 in the sun and get back to us.. Actually, I have a reissure Hikaru VF-1A that had a broken antenna. So I have placed this piece on a window seal and will compare it to its head every month. I guess you can that my Hikaru has donated his parts(taken one for the team) for the sake of science. Quote

I believe the question that Bandai asked was "In what order would you like to see the 1/55's reissued in?" Does anybody else remember this?," I was in fact saying that they did ask that question. They also provided you with an address to write to and let them know what your input was on the issue. I just wish that I hadn't deleted the information. Once the reissues started coming out, I started deleting them one by one. However, to my recollection, the Strike, Elint and Ostrich weren't in this list because it was only Takatokus. Therefore, the only item that was on the list that wasn't reissued was the GBP armor. Quote
Toonz Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 we still need these......1/55 VF-1S Strike Valk VT-1 Elintseeker Super Ostrich GBP set Quote
eriku Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Yeah, Bandai could at the very leas release the GBP armor, by itself, UV resistant or not. Quote
Blaine23 Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 I haven't seen a yellowed reissue yet... but then again, most yellowed Bandai/Takas are over 20 years old. I love the reissues' plastic, updated heatshields and tampo printing. I only wish they'd made more of them. But that's an old, sad song... Quote
EXO Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Well there's one way to find out... anyone have a UV lamp??? Quote
phatslappy Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 Well there's one way to find out... anyone have a UV lamp??? You also need a sacrificial 1/55 reissue...and there's no need to use a 1/55, reissue or not, as a guinea pig. It's not a Yammy 1/60 or even a 1/48 we're talking about here... j/k! Quote
Bub Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 OT re: UV protection: And although plenty of us already saying this. We need more reissues! I want the Strike! Everyone wants the Strike! Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 hey Bub, from what i read @greattoys.net(the site pare omni posts at a lot) in da homeland, someone from there was in manila or somewhere in the homeland at a toyconvention and asked a bandai rep what was up with the reissues and he commented"the license is hard right now for macross" and talked about how bandai was going to focus on easier licenses like gundam or something. So in terms of that i think he meant "ya yamato kicked our ass this time around, we'll focus on stuff we can totally own people in for now" so does this leave the window of oppuirtunity of a chunky monkey return further on later on? Once demand is high and saturation is gone i say yes! Quote
