Nightbat Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Mods close when done anyway I was watching Yami to Boushi to hon no tabibito when I reached the 10th Episode, DivX player went on the fritz and only gave me distorted image BSPlayer and Windows Media Player went in error and closed down same with Ep 11, 12 and 13 I installed probably every codec pack I could find the past few months (Nemo, Tsunami, Kazaa, Ffdshow) so I'm kind of stumped,... but I definatly want to see the end of this series (already started downloading the last 4 Eps,...just to make sure) could you guys offer any solutions or point me in the right direction?
Jawjaw Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I'm not too good with sorting out codec problems but I recommend going over to http://anime-xtreme.com/ and downloading their latest codec pack. After I installed their codec pack, I never had a problem viewing anything.
wolfx Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Don't download so many codec packs...it could kill your codecs as so many filters/codecs are used to decode the same thing that you're not sure what you're using to decode a particular file. All you really need to watch are: 1.) ffdshow for all things Divx and Xvid 2.) ogg codec to watch all ogm stuff 3.) Matroska to watch all .mkv (can be .avi as well) 4.) Vobsub to watch anything that has a subtitle track or just uninstall everything, and download the gamr codec pack which is basically everything I showed above...and more.
ArchVile Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 just get the defiler pack, best damn codec pack ever.
fernarias Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 go to: http://www.doom9.org/ click on downloads and download the Gordian Knot Codec Pack 1.7. Install and it should fix your codec problem. F.
soulDistortion Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 (edited) Codec packs are probably the worst things you can install to play something. If you're playing a file that more than one codec covers, the computer can start to freak out. When people have problems like this, I usually reccommend they uninstall all their codecs (especially codec packs) and install ffdshow ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow ). It's a single filter that will handle most codecs that anime is encoded in. There's a good pinned thread over at AnimeSuki that is helpful if you're trying to watch something that ffdshow doesn't cover (like .mkv or .ogg/.ogm files): http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=175 Edited August 25, 2004 by soulDistortion
Nightbat Posted August 25, 2004 Author Posted August 25, 2004 Well, I seem to have gotten it to work de/reinstalling my codecs including a WMP update) BSplayer seems to work the best for this anyway, I'm done, thank you very much!
