Skull 001 Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I have concentrated my figure collecting to 12" figures and mainly customize them. Anyway I thought I read somewhere someone was making a 12" Colonial Marine. I might be confusing it with the McFarlane MM. Anyone hear anything? I did a search and found this adn it is sweet. http://members.aol.com/Uscmr/rdr.html#anchor373961 Quote
EXO Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 That would be awesome. I doubt it would be McFaralne cuz I think you're talking about articulated figures like GI Joes. McFarlane already has 12" predator and Aliens figures. Again these are preposed with limited and unecessary articulation. Also, these would be out of scale with other 12" figures because predator would be a good 14" to look correct necxt to a normal 12" figure. Quote
bsu legato Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 That 12" kit has been around for a few years now. It's good to see that he's not only still producing it, but that it's undergone improvements since I first saw it. Personally, I'm saving my pennies for the Motion Tracker replica. Quote
Southpaw Samurai Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 At least a half decade if not close to ten years ago there was a 12" 'Hicks' action figure that came bundled with an Alien figure. It used the G.I.Joe hall of fame body with its pathetic articulation and it looked nothing like Cpl.Hicks, but despite the lack of detail, the armor, weapon, and tracker weren't that bad. I wound up picking the set up in the bargain bin a few years back and had transferred the marine items to a more poseable figure...still haven't gotten around to finish that customization (one of those 'one of these days' projects). It's no where near the accuracy and details of the model, but it might be what you're looking for if you want a poseable, customized figure. I don't know what the two pack goes for these days, though...although on ebay they seems to be going for not much more than I picked up my set for. Here's an image from one of the auctions...this guy already made some modifications, like the microphone and strap for the motion detector. Just don't pay much attention to the near worthless GIJoe arms... Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Somewhere in my basement that I'm cleaning out right now I have that 12" GIJoe marine and alien set loose. If anyone wants it (and if I come across it) drop me a PM and shoot me a price. God knows my wife is always happy to see me get rid of my loose boxed crap... Quote
Hurricane29 Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 (edited) I have the Hicks vs Alien set. And to be honest, I have checked the accuracy of the figure to the movie. What I found is its based on Hudson. I found a pic of Hudson. Edited August 25, 2004 by Hurricane29 Quote
Graham Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I thought I remember reading a few months ago that McFarlane was going to be making Colonial Marine figures, but IIRC they would be smaller than 12". Can't remember where I read it tho. Graham Quote

Mechamaniac Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Man, I know Michael Biehn is ripped and all, but that figure is sporting just a little too much vascularity in the forearms. Quote
GobotFool Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I kinda like the gooey looking base. I've given up on MF figs. Every time I buy one it looks awesome in the package, but once removed my heart always sinks. Quote
Graham Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Hmmm....not that impressed. In typical MF fashion, it looks to have nearly no articulation. Surely somebody can make an ultra detailed Colonial Marines figure with decent articulation that doesn't cost a bomb to buy. Graham Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 While being a nice looking statue and all that figure looks nothing like Michael Biehn. Sometimes McFarlane hits the nail right on the head and other times (like with the Akira figures and all their other anime and game figures) they miss the mark entirely. Quote
myk Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Has anyone bothered to pick up the 12" Alien or Predator? I can't believe that they're just supersized versions of sculpts released some time ago-really disappointing... Quote
LurkerX Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 being a fan of aliens & pred. i was going to pick up the 12" pred & alien MF figs but after i've picked up every single 6" Aliens & predator MF figure i decided not to extend it to 12" in figs. the material used on the AVP figs are just too brittle that i broke one of the preds while removing it from the box. while i was trying to superglue it together i accidentally squirted glue on one of its eye removed the color for half its mask needless to say i'm not very impressed. MF looks amazing but for quality its just pure garbage! Quote

MF looks amazing but for quality its just pure garbage! Wow, I hear the same about other MF figures. The Matrix Sentinel and the APU are real fragile too. I guess these are made for MISB collectors and that's it. My one beef with them is that they're not toys but statues with ridiculously placed articulation. But I would now just stay away from them since the plastic quality is so cheap. My other friend told me that the Alien Queen figure warps when it gets too hot... The Alien/Aliens property seems cursed... Quote
bsu legato Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 The Alien/Aliens property seems cursed... What about those figures that AOSHIMA released last spring? That 1/12 Alien looks awesome. Quote
EXO Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 maybe the curse can't cross water... God bless Aoshima.... I'm glad they have the Robocop license too... Quote
Graham Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Yeah, can't wait for the Aoshima diecast Dropship and APC. Just hope it comes with some little in-scale painted marine figures as well. Graham Quote
