Golden Arms Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Today I heard that Egan Loo will be on Japan A Radio next Sunday discussing Macross. I believe the interview will be at 6:30 p.m. pacific time Quote
Mr March Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Interesting. How would one listen to such a station? Is there an online option available? Quote
Golden Arms Posted August 23, 2004 Author Posted August 23, 2004 (edited) Yes japan A radio can be heard using WinAmp and RealOne. You can tune into it online. Follow the link below for more info. http://www.japanaradio.com/ Edited August 23, 2004 by Golden Arms Quote
dna Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Hmm, can you use Real Alternative instead of REal One? I'd check for myself, but I'm at work Quote
ewilen Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I don't know but I'm getting it great on RealOne here (under Mac OS X 10.3.5). I'm getting an ad right now, of Michael Garcia saying that the show will be at 7:30 PM Sunday night on a show called "Unwound". Looks to me like this is an entirely Internet station without an actual radio transmitter. Here are their connection options: Dial-up 24kbps #2Windows Media 9 Dial-Up Cable/DSL+ #1 Cable/DSL+ #2 (STO Server) Cable/DSL+ #5 Cable/DSL+ #6 RealPlayer DSL Windows Media 9 DSL I don't know what the non-WMP/non-RealPlayer options do... Here's some info from their FAQ: Q: What do you need to be able to listen to Japan-A-Radio?A: Winamp 5.0 works fine for most users. If you are an advanced user, you may use XMMS, Sonique, X-Audio, RealOne, or Windows Media Player v9 if you know how to configure them for streaming MP3 playback. I wonder if there's a way to capture a stream using any of the possible client software packages? And if so, can you schedule a capture? (Sort of like TiVo for RealPlayer ) Quote
Nightbat Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Although nice to hear, I see one SERIOUS problem: my Japanese is a little..... non-existant Quote
ewilen Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Well, the interview will probably be in English. It's an American web-station for people who like anime and Japanese pop music. Quote
azrael Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 To record, use one of these: http://all-streaming-media.com/record-audi...inamp-radio.htm Looks to me like this is an entirely Internet station without an actual radio transmitter. That's what Internet radio is..... I suggest you guys using Windows to download Winamp to listen. http://www.winamp.com Then click on anyone of the links for cable/dsl (for you broadband ppl) and listen in. Linux users can use XMMS. Mac users can use Audion or iTunes (or as ewilen uses, Real One). http://www.xmms.org/ http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ http://www.panic.com/audion/ Quote
ewilen Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 (edited) Azrael, thanks. Great info. Also, thanks to Golden Arms for the heads up. Edited August 24, 2004 by ewilen Quote
Prime Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Might someone post a transcript here afterwards? Quote
dna Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I'll have to write myself a note so I can remember this... Quote
Nightbat Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 (edited) *tuned in Crap, I really have to go to sleep, it's 4:35 am here in Holland, and I've gotta work at 8:30 Edited August 30, 2004 by Nightbat® Quote
valk1j Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Tuned in, missed the first part. Hope someone has a transcript of this. They need to let Egan talk more. Quote
Pat S Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 How does Egan know all of this? Is he a fan like most of us, or does he have a connection to Kawamori and co? Quote
hellohikaru Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 What did they talk about...transcripit please. Quote
EXO Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 How does Egan know all of this? Is he a fan like most of us, or does he have a connection to Kawamori and co? Egan runs the Macross Compendium and an editor for Animerica. Quote
Bob_Coffee Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 i dont remember exsactly what was said, but egan had some intresting trivia about how gerwalk mode was designed. i wish they would have talked a little more about zero personally. Quote
valk1j Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 They just finished the interview. More of a general talking about Macross than anything groundbreaking. Would have liked it if these guys asked more questions about Mac Zero. Nothing new that you couldn't already find out in the Macross Compendium. Still its nice to hear people talking about Macross. Quote
Pat S Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 He said that gerwalk came from watching someone ski backwards. I thought gerwalk was discovered when a prototype toy was made, and the legs were still down or something??? Quote
Bob_Coffee Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 You know come to think of it im suprised they didnt talk about macross toys.:/ Quote
valk1j Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I couldn't believe it when that one guy said that music didn't seem important in Zero. They needed to talk about the toys, and needed to have some prepared questions. Quote
azrael Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 (edited) He said that gerwalk came from watching someone ski backwards.I thought gerwalk was discovered when a prototype toy was made, and the legs were still down or something??? 2 different things here. According to what Egan said in the show, they came up with the idea for GERWALK when they went skiing and they thought it would be a cool thing to have. The whole part about the toy was how they realized from the concept. IIRC from the MMD book, they had already came up with the idea of GERWALK. Kawamori just couldn't figure how to make it work, which is where the toy came in. Now on to other points: They just finished the interview. More of a general talking about Macross than anything groundbreaking. Would have liked it if these guys asked more questions about Mac Zero. Not everyone has seen M0, compared to SDFM and M+, or even MII. You know come to think of it im suprised they didnt talk about macross toys.:/ Considering how much would have to be covered....I think we can save toys for next time (And between commercials, music and chatting, you can only do so much). You can only cover so much in 1 hour. It's not like the Macross panels. I couldn't believe it when that one guy said that music didn't seem important in Zero. They needed to talk about the toys, and needed to have some prepared questions. Music has yet to play as strong a role as we have yet to come to episode 5. You can send them e-mail or post your comments on their site: http://www.unwoundshow.com/ Edited August 30, 2004 by azrael Quote
EXO Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 (edited) the people on that show admitted to only watching Macross when the DVDs came out. They weren't really hard core fans, though they are new fans. The GERWALK/skiing story is getting old... lol. Gotta tell Egan... hehe... hmmm, they just ran the commercial for the interview... obviously on a loop... yeah I'm still listening... Edited August 30, 2004 by >EXO< Quote
dna Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I couldn't be near my PC at the time. Did anybody get a recording? Quote
