eriku Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 (edited) Hasbro had a brief moment of clarity with the new Vintage style toys, but now they've had a relapse. They need to be stopped. Edited August 22, 2004 by eriku Quote
eriku Posted August 22, 2004 Author Posted August 22, 2004 Not to be outdone, Darth Vader invents new disco-dancing midget Probot droid. Codename: Probie... Quote
valkyrietestpilot Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 man, somebody put some tv style yamato hands on luke.they're huge.darth vader will need the force to move those giant boots too. are they supposed to be for 3 year-olds? i can't see older kids or collectors wanting those Quote
eriku Posted August 22, 2004 Author Posted August 22, 2004 Part of Hasbro's new Playskool line. To underline their madness, Hasbro is "selling" the first 500 units exclusivly on Ebay. Quote
valkyrietestpilot Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 yeah, cause you know, people have been camping out at their computers waiting for them to go up on ebay the parents will be sitting around bragging to their friends: "yeah, got ours on ebay in the first 5 minutes they were up" "missed our tune-up appointment for the benz to catch ours.it was quite a thrill" "did you get yours on ebay?" "no,that's ashame" Quote
KingNor Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 luke looks like he's wearing eva unit 2's lava suit with valk fast packs attached. Quote
eugimon Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 hahah... I actually like the darth vader though... he looks kinda cute and menacing all at the same time. Quote
VF-1Guy Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 These are Hasbro's attempt to get into the Rescue Heros market. Toy Biz created the Spidey and Friends line a year or so back for the same reason. Believe it or not, this style is popular with some collectors. I think they are cute, but I don't need them. Quote
Radd Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Duuuuuude, I want that Vader! I'll wait until I see it in stores, though. Quote
eugimon Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 woohoo! not the only one who likes the vader! Quote
yellowlightman Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 There should be a funny joke about LUKE FREAKING SKYWALKER getting fast packs before the YF-19 does, but it's 6am and I can't think straight enough to put it together. So... be my guest. Quote
eugimon Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 how do you figure? luke was introduced in the 70's so that's what.. like 30 years of him being fastpack-less? the yf-19 only came out 10 years ago... a meager decade. only 2 decades left! Quote
bsu legato Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Wow, kids toys suck these days. Even if I were 4 years old again, I would have preferred my old 3 3/4" figures with their minimal articulation and all. Quote
Bloodcat Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 They are just Superdeformed type toys for kids. What's so bad about that? If SD is soooo horrible to many of you, howabout you send me all your Joke Machine Valks? I will take good care of them since y'all too cool for them! Quote
KingNor Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 i dunno, with gi joes on the market in my youth, the starwars, strait arm/strait leg suckyness made me not appreciate them that and it was pretty obvious to me even as a kid how weird they looked compaired to their movie counterparts. these... eh.. i can't say if i'd have liked them as a kid. i was realy REALLY into articulated toys back then Quote

"bitch bitch whine whine, Luke has a fastpack!! and look at those shoes! that's so stupiidddd " People say this and then have no problem with SD Gundams and Joke Machines? When you start pissing and moaning about inaccuracies in toys designed for KIDS, it's time to put down the Internet and get out a little Vostok 7 Edited August 23, 2004 by Vostok 7 Quote

UN Spacy Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 That's one FUGLY action figure. I'll wait for the commerorative reissues of the original figures (that're coming out with the original trilogy DVD) from Kenner. Quote
Jemstone Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 hahah...I actually like the darth vader though... he looks kinda cute and menacing all at the same time. I think his big red eyes are creepy. Quote

Yohsho Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Ok, when I first saw Luke I freaked and thought I was on drugs or walked thru a strange smoke cloud I shouldn't have. Darth though is something I would buy to stick in the car or to bug the little cousins when they come over. Quote
eriku Posted August 23, 2004 Author Posted August 23, 2004 Well, I can only speak for myself but I wasn't bitching, whining, OR assuming these figures were directed at collectors (although selling the first 500 on Ebay pretty much means they at least partially ARE...) The purpose of this post was to primarily make fun of Lukes fastpacks and Vaders disco-dancing probot. No angst or ruffled fanboy feathers intended. I have nothing but love for the super-deformed style, the Joke Machine is still my favorite valk toy. Quote
Chronocidal Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Eh, as dorky and ridiculous as those are, they are cute.. besides, after the uber-goodness that is the new Non-FX X-Wing, I think they've earned a little break from reality. If LucasPhlegm wasn't so darn copyright happy, this thing would be a great recasting candidate. Quote
Radd Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Actually, Luke likes like a pretty nifty little figure if you remove that ghastly headgear. Still, I do prefere my toys to have articulation. I doubt I'd be inclined to 'collect the whole set' of a line like this. I might get the Vader, though. He can join Tochiro and my Catty&Co. figure on the bookshelf above my Alternators. Quote

bsu legato Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 If LucasPhlegm wasn't so darn copyright happy, this thing would be a great recasting candidate. Why bother with recasting it when there's somebody right here on Macross World who is selling the studio scale X-Wing kit? Would you rather settle for a recast of a toy, or a recast off of the real thing? Quote
Blaine23 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Those aren't so bad. They're for the little kiddies! I personally like the ones where the make superheroes out civil servants. Quote
Agent ONE Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!! They look like the new Transformer toys. Quote
