Hello everyone! First time posting here after stumbling across the forum while in a Google search. Coincidentally this is only my second or so ever model kit from Macross after getting a lot of them from a friend downsizing their backlog (kits which now stare at me from my backlog, because this Wave destroid and others are in fact additions I made to the pile rather than projects I finished…) I have a good amount of experience with other models (looking at you, Bandai) but am slowly working my way to the full paint and glue requirements of most of my Hasegawa kits, so the Wave destroids, in addition to being good depictions of some of my favorite machines, are a good middle ground. Not to mention they’re more proportionally accurate than the IMAI/ARII defender/Tomahawk and not nearly as intimidating as the Moscato Phalanx that are all also in that pile. Ultimately I’m happy with how the Phalanx came out and looking forward to the Tomahawk that’s next. And since this is my first time posting, if I’ve done anything wrong or weird with the post format, please let me know!

Does anyone else know where to get Macross II designs in kit form, to include 3D prints? (Besides of course the Bandai & B-Club VF-2SS/VF-2JA & Gigamesh.) http://www.macross2.net/m3/macross2/macross2-index.html I've only found them from one source with 1/200 scale being possible for the Destroids. Of course it's nice to get the powered suits in 1/100 or 1/144 scale to display alongside various model/resin kits. A friend of mine is currently working on the Meltrandi Powered Suit & has done the Destroid Giant Monster amongst others. He primarily focuses on smaller scales, but perhaps with enough interest something larger will be produced. a friend of mine bought this kit... made a rush job of putting it together and "accidentally" glued some of the parts without first painting the hard to reach parts.. he then gave it to me and said "fix" it.... i instead bought it from him for a symbolic price... i needed a couple of days of from my other build, and this was a perfect little project to do so with... i dissembled the parts as much as possible... then primed and preshaded the parts... didnt like the flat grey some of the parts was to have... so i painted them black, and then used Tamiya weathering master Dark gun metal and snow. gave them a very thin coat of Matt Varnish... another layer of snow and Matt Varnish next was two thin layers of the "desert pale sand" and "muddy dark green" that i mixed now some detailing with black ink....

Hi folks! It's been quite a while since I posted in the modeling section, so I figured that I was long overdue. My intention was to offer a re-issue of the SPALTAN kit, seeing as how the big model firms don't seem to want to touch our beloved green goblin. I'd need 15 orders to get the project off the ground, the kits would be $140 apiece. Any takers?

I kinda got at this in my AVF Upgrade thread, and it's probably been on here at least a thousand times. But what's your favorite Macross Mecha of all time? I'll kick it off, I love the YF-19/VF-19A. It's got a dangerous sensuality to it. It's what my dad would call a sexy airplane (he's an old F106 driver). I like the forward swept wings, and the way it becomes an awesome robot. I asked mecha, so for you destroid lovers, you're welcome too. The destroids are interesting, being a battletech guy, I have a soft spot for them. I'd actually see a use for destroids, especially when given the existence of Macronized Zentradi elsewhere in the Macross universe. Variable fighters are expensive and there are only so many of them. I think destroids are highly underrated. What about y'all?

Here is my WIP of a Moscato 1/72 Destroid Spartan. Thanks to Viceland for selling it, Gabe Q for the instructions, and Mr. Moscato for creating the kit. This kit is an interesting challenge. I've never worked with resin before, and I've had to really pull out my bag of tricks: Dremel tool, 3 different types of Xacto knives, sanding sticks, and side cutters. These are the first set of pieces that have gone through initial cleaning and sanding. There is a lot more work to be done. The waist piece had a little too much Dremel, but that actually ended up being a good thing as the center torso and waist fit together almost perfectly. I'm also glad I followed some advice I found about working with resin kits: wear a respirator. I was not prepared for the amount of dust these pieces would produce, even with wet sanding. I hope to have more soon!
