  1. Okay, I don't mean to start a new thread about GOT5, but I swear to God that there were two perfectly good threads here a few weeks ago, what the hell happened? I did a search and nothing came up, but then again, I don't have a lot of faith in the Search function here. Anyway, if the threads haven't magically vanished into fat air, please point me in the right direction and Mods, feel free to close this one. I've been avoiding it like the plague so no chance of spoilers, but I finally went on a bender and watched the whole thing this weekend. Here are my thoughts and since all episodes are out, no need for spoiler alerts right? I thought Melissandra (The Red Witch?) actually had some power there, wtf happened, lol! The only thing I have for Stannis: I almost felt bad for Cercei for a bit when she was in jail and doing the walk of shame, only because I dont particularly care for religions, but it was easy to remember what a cow she was at the end. Im guessing the High Sparrow and the not-so-silent sister will have a bad time when the Mountain gets a hold of them. Really not liking Ramsay Snow/Bolton, hope he gets his whatfor in the near future. I still like Jaimie and Bronn Briennes cool, heard shes going to be in Star Wars VII. Sansa and Theon commit suicide together? I miss the Hound. I liked how Arya got some revenge there, but that thing about her going blind, wtf, I dont think she deserved that. I hear her vision will be restored though, just part of her Jedi training like Luke and the helmet with the blast shield down. Love how she has a hit-list. Reminds me of Hit-Girl from Kickass. I feel like Daeneryss pace has slowed to a grinding halt. I think it was a bad move for her to set up shop in that city. She should have just kept going like she was before, go in, free the slaves, and ask whoever wanted to freely join her army, to do so and leave the city. Jon Snow - I cant believe they killed him off, I mean, I sort of can because its Game of Thrones, but holy, they really pulled a Julius Caesar number on him. All that foreshadowing with Melisandre calling him special(maybe shell bring him back?), the eye-to-eye he had with the white walkers, the fact that he killed a white walker boss..there was a big wtf when it happened, lol!
  2. This thread is for people to discuss Game of Thrones OPENLY and actually enjoy themselves. This is to celebrate the works of GRRM and the creation of the Game of Thrones TV show that came from those works. The show is 98.9% caught up to the books, and the latest book might not be out for another 6 months or so. Season 5 is also over so if you haven't seen it - don't post here if you wish to stay spoiler free. As many fans are TV show only and will never read the massive book series, it's always helpful for them to get background information when they request it, and this is a place to do it. Scope: Feel free to discuss the books. All books related to A Song of Ice and Fire. The show. All 5 seasons. What the show has left out and changed from the books. GRRM vs the Double D's. Tinfoil theories and SPOILERS. Speculation of the ending. This thread is for open discussion, so if you come here you have already seen all the episodes and read all the books, or don't care about spoilers. No spoiler tags needed. If you don't want to be spoiled - don't post here or read this thread. It's really just that simple. Now that that is out of the way - if you want to catch up on the theories this is an excellent place to start: https://www.youtube.com/user/JaiWbio ALT SHIFT X on youtube compiles most of the major book/show theories into very helpful and visual videos. Here is a cool article about enjoying spoilers: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/06/14/game-of-thrones-spoilers-why-they-re-a-good-thing.html
  3. So, I have A Feast for Crows on order from SFBC and was just curious if anyone else has gotten into this series and what their thoughts on it are. For those who don't know, A Song of Ice and Fire is an exciting fantasy series by George R.R. Martin which has some crazy politics, some crazy sex and some incredibly brutal violence. The four books thus far in the series are: A Game of Thrones A Clash of Kings A Storm of Swords and the newly released A Feast for Crows There are several things I enjoy about this series: 1) The books seem to tell so much story for their size. Martin is a descriptive writer who also seems to pack a lot of substance into each chapter. 2) Magic is present in these books, but is rarely seen for most of the books, and it's rarely explained which makes it very mysterious. 3) The violence. The brutality displayed in these books is no punches pulled, throw little kids off of towers, kind of violence. It's gruesome and oh so good! 4) Most importantly, no character is safe. Main characters with established plotlines can, and are, killed off at the most unsuspecting moments. Which, in turn, throws the whole story off. Anyhow, I suppose there are going to be seven books in the series (there were going to be six, but A Feast for Crows was written when Martin realized he couldn't pull off a five year gap between A Storm of Swords and the book he originally planned next, A Dance with Dragons). So we have three more to anticipate. Any thoughts, kids?
