  1. Super Dimension Foto's Patreon Page Photography is a hobby of mine. Doing Macross themed Cosplay photo shoots seems like a good idea to me. I'm starting things off with a series dedicated to Misa. This project will emulate classic imagery of character in photographs (and possible video). I picked Misa because she’s a strong female character that doesn’t get that much attention. In the future I'd like to include more characters from the series or pop culture. I've already did the first shoot. You should be able to match most of the poses up with the line art. It was simple shoot with a real model. Her name is Lee and has agreed to portay Misa for several shoots. You will see more of her and hopefully others. I ask that you don't say anything disrespectful about her/them or attempt to contact them in private with the intent to harass. I will take steps to remove you from Macross World if you do. This thread will be periodically cleaned up. Why focus on one character? It is simple economics. I like to include more characters but resources are limited. I'm going to stretch my dollar by getting the most mileage out of each character. These shoots will be primarily self-funded. On my own I can afford a modest monthly/bimonthly photo shoot. I know people that will want to see the pictures will also want to see more elaborate photo shoots with more extras like new characters. If you're willing to be a patron in supporting this project we can increase the production value. Here are 2 sample pictures. I will share 1 more every other day for a total of 5 freebies. If you want to see rest of this photo set click on the link above. (Click to see bigger) (Click to see bigger) For those that don't want to sign up for a Patreon account I will accept direct donations for each set. I can also arrange things by private request for very generous patrons. Cosplay photography isn't cheap. If you're willing to donate more to help fund things we can include your requests in a future photoset to be shared with the rest of the patrons. If you don't want to share and willing to pay for everything that can be arranged as well. Special Note: None these photo sets will be pornographic or show extreme violence. This includes private commissions. I photograph clients of all ages and that is not the type of photographer I want them to see me as. Some of the photos will be very SFW and others may border on being NSFW. If is it acceptable to a museum than it is acceptable to me.
  2. Hello~! I'm going back to Sakura-Con in Seattle next year, and I'm curious if there will be other Macross fans and/or cosplayers going! I'll be there with my friends and cosplaying as DYRL Minmay and Mikumo. If there's enough interest, I might host a Macross meet-up (the last one I attended at Sakura-Con was in 2011 T___T ) and hopefully connect with more Macross fans~
  3. The September 10, 2016 MACROSS NIGHT was held at the EDITION Bar, New Shinsaka Bld. It started a 11pm til 5am the next morning. The trains in Tokyo stop running at around midnight and wont start until 5am the next morning.

  6. This is the first time Reebok will release the high top "Ripley" version as well as the low ones worn by Bishop. The question for me now is which ones to get. I want them mostly for display, so Ripley's seem to be the best choice because they're more iconic, but I like Bishop's better and I love the character, decisions decisions. 7. Hey there! Are there any Macross fans heading to Fanime 2016 in Sanjose California this May? I was looking to start a Macross cosplay gathering if anyone is interested? More information of the fanime boards here http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,20339.msg487424.html#msg487424 Let me know if you're interested and I'll put you on the list!
  8. So while Macross Frontier will probably never be broadcast on US TV on Sy Fy channel they started up season 1.5 for Heroes of Cosplay. I included a link and it has Yaya Han dressed as Sherly Nome in her Kimono outfit at 9 sec and 16 sec in this promo for episode 7. Not sure if you'll need a VPN to view it and SyFy may put up the full episode in a day or two. Keep in mind the show isn't the greatest but it puts exposure into Cosplay and Macross Frontier in a minor way at least. Link http://www.syfy.com/videos/Heroes%20of%20Cosplay/Promos/vid:2782200 Here's the link to pics of the costume she wore on her site as the video is real fast http://www.yayahan.com/portfolio/costumes/sheryl-nome-oiran-garb-macross-frontier
  9. At Japan Expo in Santa Clara, I took an experimental photo with Lina Lau, which yielded this: CG composite of a Macross VF-25 with Sheryl Nome. (click the picture for a larger version) If anyone is curious, there's some detail on how I did it on my LJ. TL;DR: I used Blender's compositor & Cycles renderer with a lightprobe I created in Hugin from a series or mirrorball images. (the red parts glowing is me trying to make it more obvious in a dark scene) VF-25 model is from a library of free Sketchup models. I think it came out kinda cool, but also not quite as epic as I hoped. So I think I'll try it again. Probably next time with one of Sirian's Sheryls. (probably not the one linked there) I was wondering: Does anyone here have any higher detail (and perhaps more Blender-friendly) 3D models of any of the variable fighters from Macross Frontier that you might be willing to volunteer for use in cosplay photos? My modeling skills are not horrible, but available time to make my own is in short supply.
  10. I'd like to try my hand at making this costume, but I may be in over my head. I have no experience with engineering or sculpting, but I think the idea is sound. I'm just unsure of how difficult it would be, not to mention how expensive, to make such large pieces. And what is the best material to work with? Resin? Fiberglass? Any advice?
  11. So, my friend and I went to a con dressed as Shin and Roy. I noticed that there aren't any other Zero cosplays out there I could find, so we were proud to make what we believe to be the first ones. There are OBVIOUS flaws we may fix if our budgets increase. We are doing the same cosplays at Tekkoshocon in two weeks.
