  1. Aurora, Not long at all. I lean the acrylic rod in one of the grooves of the coffee can and wave the heat gun over it until it starts to bend (about 30 seconds to a minute depending on how hot your heat gun is). Then when it gets soft and bends, I start working it into the grooves of the coffee can to get a perfect half circle (REMEMBER TO WEAR GLOVES!!!!). I use one of the large coffee cans. I'm not sure if others do it this way... maybe I invented something! The "Ostrich technique"!!?!
  2. Pic here with my VF-11 Jamming bird. Already drilled the hole for acrylic rod. Brushed some of the putty dust into the grooves so you could see the kite better. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...e=post&id=26175
  3. Grayson and Jesse... better than Manning and Harrison. I'm in.
  4. That looks great... particularly for that scale!
  5. Ok... this is the big thing I've been working on this year... my son William. I also have my Macross VF-11 Jamming bird (see next to the new model base for Macross from modelbaseguy). I have an acrylic rod drilled and inserted to hold him when he's done. Finally, here's a couple pics of my Fine Molds Slave 1. It is a mostly scratchbuilt cockpit. I used a couple pics that I saw in Star Wars Chronicles as my guide.
  6. I use tenax on my polystyrene kits. Some like the goopy testors orange tube and then sand off the excess. I just rather use putty/filler/Mr. Surfacer for that instead.
  7. Excellent... toys are for kids, silly rabbit. You're in the model forum now!
  8. Got mine today. Good base cast out of solid resin. A few bubbles here and there (but almost entirely on the underside, so not a problem). It's not as even around the edges as I would've liked. The 5 inch diameter "thick" one is much better than the 7 inch diameter "thin" version. The kite is very neatly scribed into the base. I'm glad I got them.
  9. I get the feeling by the lack of response that this thing isn't getting enough attention. I think Grayson worked hard to get this guy interested in doing something. I hope it's not in vain. I hope I'm not misconstruing the lack of response as a lack of interest.
  10. It's my favorite game ever.
  11. if the price is right. I don't need a 1/48th scale... I'm generally pleased with the Hasegawa offerings.
  12. Cool, Ido. Thanks for sharing. Like I didn't feel inadequate enough today! Just kidding. Great pics.
  13. Good news. Hope he gets back safe. My GI speak is poor... what are tilters?
  14. Personally I think it is too short versus the ARMD I saw on the Yellow Sub SDF1 kit.
  15. Found this ambitious endeavor over at SSM: http://www.starshipmodeler.net/cgi-bin/php...pic.php?t=30807
  16. Whatever happened to that dude that was doing that cool SV-51 in Gerwalk. I thought that looked pretty cool... but I agree that it looks stupid in Battroid.
  17. Just went on your site and bought 3.... may have to buy more later, but I'm hoping maybe you do some other designs down the road.
  18. At-AT tow truck? Ahhhhh I get it, for the Legs Contest, right? Too funny
  19. Too bad about the Wave scale... but luckily Hasegawa will make my life very very happy.
  20. Samurai, consider SSM like first cousins once removed. John and Linda are like family to several of us. I for one would vouch for their character.
  21. Looks great, HWRMK2! You should start a new thread for that. I'd love to hear more about how it went together. Is this kit still available? I believe not, correct?
  22. grayson, is kanata talking toy stuff again?
  23. Any Mecha is an automatic YES for the contest. Gerwalk makes a ton of sense and I know HWR MKII got his Rex, which would be great.
  24. The kit itself is ok. A couple parts were a little warped, but that has more to do with the G-System casters, which are usually pretty good. No flash on the kit. Small bits were a little brittle, but generally ok. The engine bells were not the same thickness, which bothered me a bit. The kit goes together easy enough, but you have to pin the legs and the arms. I did this with some brass rod. This was a little difficult for me since it was my first time pinning a kit. The stand is too weak for the weight of the kit. I think in hot weather it will bow. I drilled two holes with two pins in the stand and then two holes in the bottom of the kit, so the stand would stay tight. I should've made a new stand, but I wanted to get this kit done. The ARMD's were generally pretty easy, but you can accidentally fill in some of the deck detail if you sand/putty too much. Overall, a good kit... I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.
