The All Things Video Games Thread!

Yep, there are rumors of an unconfirmed AC game, the story goes like this: -Country A invades Country B in a surprise attack -Country B counterattacks but then A uses its omgwtf superweapon to pwn B's air force so they retreat to some little corner of the map -Country B slowly crawls its way back up -B destroys A's superweapon -B captures back all of its territory and invades A -As B approaches A's capital, ... yep you guessed it, A has another superweapon -You fly down some death star like trench to destroy A's final superweapon, then fly off into the sunset and AWAC's goes "war is bad mmmkay?" /sarcasm off Anyways, the only AC I want to see and play is a remake of AC3, the gimped non-JP version still angers me to no end. -
Agreed. Loved the story arc, and kept DS9 fresh. At first, I thought it was just an excuse for more space pew pew which always resonated contrary to the whole peaceful space exploration & Federation utopia thing. But the dominion arc was interesting, because they were kind of like the "Anti-Federation," and it made Starfleet and the UFP question their own beliefs, and perhaps even do things unbecoming of the Federation in order to survive. Good stuff.

Although the trailer looked awesome, the lack of actual gameplay footage was a big minus for me yesterday. In the MMO world, I started off with FFXI, and now play EVE - so TOR MMO seems to be a perfect merge of scifi and character development for me - Bioware better not disappoint. What I would really like to see are two things. First, no old school grinding please. I much prefer the EVE system where your skill training is time based, as I'm productive in game even while not being logged on. Second, a more proactive hand at managing the in game economy. Square Enix (and Blizzard or so I hear) totally failed in this respect on their own flagship titles. For the longest time, RMT pretty much had a free for all in adding to in game inflation. The wonderful people at CCP for EVE at least made an attempt to keep things under control - there is plenty of opportunity to make ISK, and you can actually trade game time for in-game currency, which keeps the money supply low and a lid on inflation. They even hired a real economist to oversee the game economy... which was quite unexpected and hardcore.

I played Force Unleashed on 360, it was very overrated in my opinion. For one the game was very buggy, while fighting Shak Tii, my character literally dissapeared from the screen, but I could still do force moves to damage the boss. Also, in the star destroyer pull-down scene (what is supposed to be the iconic and defining moment of the game), if you follow the on-screen directions precisely, you will never succeed. It has its moments, but I think TFU could have used a few more months of tweaking and polishing.

Congrats! Well deserved. -
I fail because I support creative ways of extending a license as opposed to making a next-gen turn-based game? lol....

Wouldn't mind seeing this in FPS mode if it is indeed the direction they're headed, if it is well executed. The thing with FPS is that it's not about originality, but about execution. There is nothing original about CoD, Halo, Far Cry, Killzone franchises but these games were successful because they were polished products, in a turd filled sea of FPS'. Now a mech based FPS would be interesting to see. I loved the original FM games, but turn-based strategy is just so yesterday...

Did I hear someone say Spartaaaa? I just finished mine. The GM-Spartan that is . I call this the RGM-79S2 GM Spartan High Mobility Type. This is my first attempt at kitbashing - though admittedly it's really easy with Master Grade kits since they all share a lot of similar build features like the polycaps. Yep... the visor flips up and down. -
Now... when I say this, I'm actually serious, and it'd be surprised if they have not at least considered something as ridiculous at time travel. Altering the original MGS timeline would give them the chance to reboot the MGS series like every other retard in the entertainment industry is doing. Does it need a reboot? No, but the chance to redo things bigger and better seems like a lucrative things nowadays.

I have only 1 GFF, #32 I think, the GM Sniper Custom / RX-78-2 Real Type. Here are some thoughts: Pros: - Very customizable, many of them can be part-swapped into a completely different mecha (though not all). - Nice detailing - Come with beautiful stands Bad: - 144 scale (this is more personal opinion, as I prefer 100 scale) - Parts fall off easily. I've heard this from a few people so it's not just me . At the end I just crazy-glued the parts on mine to keep it in one form. - Lots of accessories and parts to keep track off.

That Optimus is the most epic thing I've seen in a long time (and I see some really crazy stuff on a given day). Here is an update on my GM Spartan kitbash, took a two week break due to real life unavailability, but aiming to wrap this thing up by next weekend: -

It's "Yesterday's Enterprise," and I mentioned it a few pages back. -
One thing I hate about Federation designs in general are those massive warp nacelles, which dwarf the smaller ones on Romulan & Klingon vessels. In a battle situation, you could just target those huge nacelles to cripple the ship permanently. This is another reason I like the more practical designs like the Defiant and Steamrunner classes.... admittedly though, Federation ships are a bit faster on Warp.

I also dislike the term. As evolution is an ongoing process, everything is part of the link.

V remake - new TV series coming to ABC
Ghost Train replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This might be interesting, if they do it right. Now that LOST is 1 season away from ending, it'd be good to have something to fill in that mid-week slot I'm so used to DVR'ing. -

Watching MS Igloo 2 atm. 2 episodes in. It's definitely better than what I expected. The whole "Shinigami" thing along with that Federation Major is really creepy, but in a good way. -
The prequel Star Trek: Countdown (though I have not read it myself) gives vibes that the events that lead up the film take place in the 24th century TNG universe most trekkers are familiar with, with the Enterprise-E playing a major role in the whole Hobble star incident that sends the Narada and Spock back in time. Depending on what your own personal views on quantum physics are, the old timeline actually ceases to exist completely, and a new set of events stem from the historical change - this is for the most how old Trek has handled it. ... Or you can argue that Spock/Nero get sent back to an alternate universe instead, which is more supported by actual quantum physics . The last volume of the prequel suggests that the latter was what happened... though again, I'm only going by what memory alpha says and have not actually read it.
