The various VF-1 molds have been milked to death, the tits of creativity are completely flacid... it's time for them to get some enemy mecha's and/or obscure valkyries like the VF-4 in production.

That looks wicked! Even if fake.

I am by no means stating that Chinese QC standards are high, but it really depends. About 99.5% of everything in the household is made in China today, and let's just say that aside from a few Yamato valks the world around me isn't crumbling into little pieces. Yamato's management signs off on the materials usage, the design process, and the CAD's so the ultimate responsibility is on them to ensure that the product is good. Also, I hope you're joking about the "nekkid figures." The STD viruses that can really kill you will die almost instantly when exposed to Oxygen outside of a blood culture, so no, the odds of getting a lethal virus from a figure that has left a factory, packaged, and shipped is about as high as getting hit by lightning inside a submarine.

15 years ago the first OVA of Macross Plus was released.

What? You mean they didn't kidnap you in broad daylight, force you into an unmarked black VW-van and take you to a secret deprogramming facility and beat the daylights out of you? -

I was in HS when I first read about this in 1996. Back then information traveled slowly lol.... It wasn't until my senior year in 1999 that I actually bought the commercially released subbed VHS Movie Edition. I saw the OVA's independently while at college a few years later. Still my favorite Macross series/OVA after so many years. -
In defense of A&E I can say that Dog the Bounty Hunter was somewhat entertaining, I might just check this one out as well. Maybe they can have a crossover where Dog & Steven Segal team up with a smart canine to solve a case!

Who would you rather have as a passenger?

Misa has officially overtaken the Galaxy Fairy by 1 vote! And I deeply apologize for missing out on some key characters from II and the main canon stories. I shall commit e-sepukku for this disgrace.... but yea, this is a joke topic anyways . -
In case y'all were wondering: Cost of cheapest BMW: 30,000 USD Average Yamato Valkyrie: 150 USD Therefore, you would need to forfeit 200 Yammies for the cheapest beamer! Give or take a few units depending on the exact distribution of your collection amongst the really pricy like the YF-21 or your run of the mill VF-1. I'm sure some people could have bought a BMW by now....

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0

Canaan is worth a watch . Now that you mention it, it does remind me of Noir as well. -

I remember when the Razr came out lol. I was on an out of town project at the time and had to fly to Jersey every week. In the airport every corporate desk jockey who wanted to look l33t would have a blackberry on one holster (back then it was b/w blue framed model) and the razr on the other. But I hated mine . Had terrible reception. I had recently switched over from T-mobile because I was getting crap reception. I figured that switching to Cingular - which was the only razr seller at the time would improve reception as it operated under the 850 band (low frequency = more energy = easier to penetrate walls). The laws of physics of course need not apply to cell phone carriers as my reception was even worse. I was basically stuck with an expensive piece of "man-jewelry." To add insult to injury, 1+ year later Razrs were being given out for free with contracts by almost every other carrier. I will never be a first-adopter again. -

Who would you rather have as a passenger?

I have modified the poll to add Edgar LaSalle from Macross Zero, he is actually the only person on the whole list qualified to do actual military stuff while sitting on a military aircraft. Also added Mylene and Vefidas per Pete's reminder (yea, like I said when I think about 7 my brain locks-down). -

I still have 2 MD players. I use it once in a while and have had people ask me what it is.... being the attention-whore that I am, I'd say it has achieved its purpose. -
highlight them.

Inspired by who is the best pilot thread. My knowledge of who has actually been a passenger is less than encyclopedic , so feel free to suggest anyone I could have missed. Note that Macross 7 is 1 big blurry spot in my memory.

This: Phone was decent.... the games, not so good. They are still developing games for it, it just never really took off. -

The Unicorn's design has always been hit/miss for me. Unicorn mode = nice, Destroy mode = hideous. That being said, I look forward to seeing the nz-666 kshatriya, the Regzl, and the the Jesta animated.

Sequels that we DON'T want to see!!
Ghost Train replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Tom Clancy fails. His jingoistic us vs them "Ameeericcccaaaa f***k Yea!" crap should have ended with the Cold War. Though I find a few of the "Tom Clancy" games mildly entertaining but last I heard the rights to using his name have officially been 100% sold to Ubisoft. -
This is probably the wrong thread for this.... but what in the name of Ranka is this?? (Edit: Rhetorical Question, thank you.) I think a few Gundam designers have finally gone off the deep end.

Alto hime perfected the technique of bailing out from his valkyrie in style... damm those new flight-capable exoskeletons.

Although I agree 100% with what you said about the need to have some differentiation between the original trilogy "look" and something that takes place 3600 years before - I've always thought that Old Republic already represented the epitome of "advanced technology" and as such it would be difficult to move beyond that, hence even 3600+ years after that, things would still look the same - think about how long the horse + carriage was the preferred method of transportation. Also, since Palpatine was a Sith, he must have been familiar with the historical events of that time, and it could have inspired him to design his own military styled after the ancient Sith Empire.

Hmm... tempting to get, just for the VF-2SS
