I've always thought that for students who learned English as a second language, at least their writing skills (the mechanical portions of it - sentence structure, grammar, spelling) are of higher quality than the average native speaker (not the PhD in English literature). Since in East Asia their primary language will be Chinese / Japanese / Korean etc. , their only exposure to English would be from a textbook which is generally considered an accurate source. Lol, when I was doing my UG every student from Taiwan or China I met had a higher SAT verbal than I who has lived in the US only since I was 14. (For reference under the old system my Verbal was at 650, later on when I took the MCAT my Verbal Reasoning score was just about average at 10 )

I'd settle for Incredibad... good happens as frequently as being struck by lightning inside a submarine nowadays.

I'm from this mentally ill school of thought that believes that if you do something you do it right. So - great for DYRL. The Engrish radio-exchange as Sheryl Nome arrives in Frontier is just inexcusably stupid and made me drop the series until a few months later ... they really should have just done it in Japanese. It did not set either tone or precedent as any and all future transmissions during the remaining episodes of Frontier were done in Japanese. My first-hand knowledge of Japan is somewhat limited to the four hours I have to spend at Narita on my own to HK, but I am well aware of this extreme fascination Japan has with the English language.Despite the fact that English is taught starting in HS (at least) in almost every East Asian country (YES! That includes North Korea!), so little attention in anime is paid to getting it right. It's obviously not really important as it's primary aim is domestic consumption... but would it be hard to pluck a few from the thousands of native-English speaking foreigners living in Japan to read a few lines ? I'm sure there is some extreme administrative impediment to doing this as I'm definitely not the first one to analyze this. Maybe the Seiyuu-Union is quite powerful ...

I also heard Spanish in DYRL. The best part of DYRL however is that the English is actually quite good! ... The Engrish at the intro of M. Frontier on the other hand was just lolz

There is a literary genre known as The Short Story.

It looks a look like EVE's Megathron, which itself looks like White Base.

They can make another MW set in the post-Vietnam era... it just has to be from an alternate universe/timeline lolz. -
The only solution is to import anime, strip elements of East-Asian culture that seem confusing and weird, anglicize all the names to good ol fashioned Christian names! ... and take advantage of economies of scale by mashing more than 1 series into one!

Had a bout of insomnia last night so digged through my old DVD's and popped in Season 2.5. The Pegasus arc was definitely my favorite part of the series. Definitely the most epic pew-pew until we get to the end of the series, so much space-p0rn, from the Blackbird, Galactica vipers vs Pegasus vipers, to the assault on the Resurrection ship, etc. Seeing both BS fly side by side hammering the base-stars was just awesome. In addition, I like how the character drama was just so well interwoven. The outcome of the resurrection ship battle really took a back seat to the Adama vs. Cain who is going to pop a cap first storyline . This proves that the most badass cold hearted mutherfracker of the leadership trio was El Presidente Roslin, when she said, "Bill, we gotta kill her." It was just so anticlimactic, I fell out of my chair... It's great discovering small interesting factoids, now that Caprica has fleshed out some more cultural details about the 12 colonies. It makes perfect sense that the super-tough admiral Cain is a Tauron dirt-eater.

I sure as hell am going to support anime when ROBOTECH: ASTROPLAN comes out on Blu-Ray. Imma going to donate blood for money tomorrow so can buy the Director's cut version with free Sky-Sword key chain.

I sort of like this show particularly because it appeals to the 6-year old components of my brain. I mean gosh how can we talk about maturity when we're posting on a board about jet fighters transforming into giant robots.

That viper looks awesome 505 ... I think I'm ordering one too! I really want a Mk. 7 as well... -
lol... right, and an eagle is going to hold up a giant 700 lb shark with its "superclaws" long enough to air-drown it.
-
It depends. If they fought in the ocean, the shark would win...

Last episode, Atilla vs. Alexander the Great was a bit weak in my opinion. The Macedonian Hellenistic champion got shortchanged by crappy weapons choice. Why would you bring an artillery piece for a small squad engagement? Though the horse archery demonstration was quite a sight to behold. Shooting a moving target while the archer is moving in a horse with a bow = epic win . LOL, and sword of mars: it owns because it's made from something that came from space rofl!

Mk. II is definitely more Starbuck-ish ... Doesn't L. Adama do most of his flying time on a Mk VII ? -

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, an airline pilot was 1 step below an astronaut.... now, it's only 1 step above a bus driver. Though bus drivers aren't allowed to flip open the laptop for obvious reasons.

Buying a console or paying $150+ for any sort of gaming device to play 1 game = retarded.

My understanding of Battle7 was that it would be an invitation-only fleet formed of fellow RT-haters and/or Macross enthusiasts. I have no issues with inviting other ppl in, but somewhere down the line, the "inviting" got terribly out of control. A fleet/guild/team of 200+ people can simply not be managed effectively. Note - have no idea what the drama was about , I've only logged in sporadically for the past 2 months.

And the ongoing I-Phone prototype drama continues: Vid Don't mess with the A, they will come after you in full tactical gear MW2 style, lmao! (Personally, I think this whole episode has been staged my Big Brother Steve.) -
I loved the Ann Coulter episode (it's probably closer to reality than you think). This is such a great show - added so many new terms to the urban lexiconia.
