Thanks MKT. I had no idea that was delayed so long. Hopeful it if ever arrives i can snag one. Meanwhile hoping to learn some Fusion 3D so i can make shoulders for the original yamato garland, whose shoulders seem to be made of feta.

Anyone have a lead on somewhere that still has the Rerelease of Arcadia proto-garland not sold out? I usually buy from HLJ but they are sold out. Didn't realize it was available when it was put up. I've pretty much given up on reconstructing the brittle shoulders of my old yamato Garland unless i find a 3d printable set, or Learn fusion 360 myself.

They Put 2012 on Blu Ray as well. It Came with DYRL and a Playstation 3 game This was the edition with the gore in DYRL censored with white flashes. I don't think putting it on Blu Ray improved the videotape-like quality at all based on numerous watchings. It's a real shame the originals seem to be lost

I Just finished watching the 4K and the Music Video.. Here's a photo of a few copies of the movie. I'm a fan of this release, but I also own the prior releases. so any perceived 'loss'.. I still have it. COLORS POP - The colors look incredible. They are much more saturated than the previous Blu Ray, but there is no bleeding. SHARPNESS (and sharpening) - The scenes that were sharp are sharp(er?) The Processes they used really brought out some detail that make it look like pure animation cels. BLURRY SCENES - The scenes that were blurry on 1080 are still blurry on 4K All the gore I can remember is still present. The Budweiser missile is still there. I have not found any content missing. You can tell its been messed with quite a bit. This release is not for purists. I am glad I have my other copies but I'll be honest.. this is the one I want to watch. If you strongly prefer film grain. you will NOT like this. I popped the older blu ray in after I finished watching. the Blurry stuff is the same mess on both. The grain is SO evident on the blu ray and its pretty much gone on the 4k.. BUT, to my eyes, the blu ray's 'grain' comes mixed with mpeg/compression artifacts mixed in.. like the two seem to go hand in hand if you pause.. I've probably spent about a million hours editing in photoshop and premiere and such.. So its interesting that while I don't mind film grain, I hate what I call 'JPG worms' This is going to be either really devisive, or I will be alone in liking it.

This is really exciting. Actual subtitles is such a milestone. Out for Delivery.

Anyone know how the poster comes? I'm presuming folded, but how many times, etc? Might try to drymount and frame

Honestly, I have the older editions, I am not at all worried about the changes. if they aren't to my liking i can watch the old one. I get that the material is kind of 'sacred' But thankfully, with physical media, you don't lose access to the version you may prefer, (at least Blu Ray.. i can't play the VHS now) and With DYRL so far they haven't lucas'ed it and mucked with STORY elements and added a bunch of stuff they wish they had done. I my change my tune when it arrives.

Just rewatched Flashback on Hulu. I remember it looking bad on my official Blu Ray from Japan that came with DYRL, but Hulu 'seems' to look even worse. I'm gonna have to pop that disc in and see if my memory improved the blu ray or if they are the same.

Those are exactly what i was referring to, yes. Again i wouldn’t want AI except as an alternate track. I own so many different releases of this i would not mind some experimenting. Plus blurry 4k seems .. meh.. either way.. its mine!

Really looking forward to getting this, I've bought many of the Japanese releases thus far since Laserdisc. With as many copies as I have, I'm actually hoping they do something (tasteful) about the blurry scenes.. I'm not talking about removing intentional blur.. but the blu ray versions have a number of scenes that are quite blurry- GHOSTING - like double image in some places, as any of you who own it know. Has anyone researched what caused that to happen? Is it something they could fix by rescanning from film if it exists? Is there a way to remove the effect digitally without AI 'weirdness' ? I'm all for film grain and preserving the artists vision, but as a visual artist myself, I can't imagine anyone intended for the GHOSTING effect. Not sure if the technology to remove that is out there but I'd love to see it happen. I also like the idea, with all these new and 'controversial' technologies' of having a set include 2 versions.. uncleaned, and 'remastered' .. For example I have the Star Trek original series blu ray, and they redid all the special effects, but there's both versions on the disc, and you can swap between them. this is really amazing because in most cases it enhances something, in a few it detracts.. but having the original there as well makes the experiment worthwhile and inoffensive. If Lucas had given us the original versions of Star Wars along with his 'specialized' versions it would've been a lot easier to swallow. This is all probably way more than they plan to put into this, but its a shame, for such a monumental achievement, an example of the best ever of hand drawn anime.

Just broke mine too. Putting it on it's stand in fighter mode. So much for protecting the toy by keeping it on the stand. So those who have fixed it. It is NOT supposed to move/swivel at all? I can drill and pin it with metal and ca glue, i Suppose. (Very unhappy about doing that to a $350 toy) really carefully since its unpainted and the CA has to be flawless. I haven't transformed it back into Battroid yet. Every place i look is one of those metal 'pins' instead of a screw so How far apart am i gonna have to take this whole toy to remove just the head I wonder. I buy these to AVOID using my model building skillset! Anyhow

I 'missed out' on the 1/55 in , i believe 1985/86 at 'Fuji Oriental Market' in Palmdale California. I was 12/13 yrs old and my parents got me the Hikaru VF-1A and VF-1S from DYRL, the shop also had the Ostrich, but it was in a case and not for sale. Of course. I wanted it ever since but the price.. Needless to say I have ordered this one!

Anyone find this somewhere other than Amazon Japan? I seem to be unable to order due to being in the US. Checked HLJ and CD Japan and no luck yet. Amazon Japans region issues seem random almost, as they just shipped my Tenjin book today.

So frustrated i missed this. I can't do the staying up all night thing anymore. I guess i will keep checking HLJ for the next couple months. they seem to have the macross ones pop back into stock occasionally.

THANK YOU!!! I'll dig around there for similar too. I want the spiky shoulder bits as well. Mine are all yellowed and potentially brittle. Old toys. they don't make old toys like they used to make old toys (I'm looking at my 1/55 valkyries still working despite yellowing)

Thanks for the Eye Decal tips guys! I got some Frame Arms Girls Eyes. Couldn't really find any that matched the 80's style, but these are way better than the tiny painted on ones on Hoquet, to me. I dont even know what color her eyes are so i used blue but they could be green. I have green ones on the sheet if so. Not perfect but I think its an improvement.

Well I finally have this toy in hand. And I am happy. I mean I guess the pink thing I see it but it doesn’t bug me because I haven’t been able to get this figure in any other line any other scale ever. The fact that the front visor doesn’t stay in down position is more annoying than color. I think once I follow the decal route the route shown here I will be satisfied. I’ve been wanting a figure of her since the 80s when they had those cruddy little partsformers That’s still impressed my preadolescent self

Not bad! I’ve been scouring the eye decals, And have not found anywhere how do I put this… the top half of the eye is bigger than the bottom half and it’s not such a cat Eye look. You know the 80s kind of style. Anyway yours are a bit like the modern ones too but they look better than the otheroptions I saw. Do you happen to know what manufacturer and sheet number that is? Thanks!

When I get mine I’m going to take a picture of the face and then Photoshop it so that the eyes are moved down slightly. It’s possible that will make her look right. Right now she looks like an older woman like by 10 years. Also depending on the size of the eyes they may be able to be replaced by those decal eyes you can get. I wonder…
