I'll start off by saying I had no problem with the LoTR adaptations, and I thought they were handled very well, but if it was given the treatment Starship Troopers got all the elves would be naked, Frodo would have sacrificed the fother hobbits to the ring wraiths, Aragorn would be a woman trying to have sex with Frodo, Helm's deep would end with Orcs slaughtering everyone body parts flying, Gondor would look like Hitler's eagles nest and Gollum would use the ring to kill Sauron and become the new lord of the rings. The novel Starship Troopers has more in common with Here's a short list of major things different from the book to the movie 1.professional trained soldiers in Power armor with multiple weapon systems instead of idiots in plastic armor with assault rifles. 2.The government is the Terran Federation a representative democracy, not the United Citizen Federation a fascist militarist state. 3.Dizzy Flores is a man and has no relation to Rico other than a soldier in his unit, he's also a very minor charcter only mention twice in the book. 4.A value is placed in life. Rico is punished for willing to kill his own squad members to complete a objective during a training simulation as opposed to the movie's almost sadistic take on life. 5.Rasczak and Rico's teacher from school are two different people. Dubois is the one with an artificial arm. 6.Rico is Juan Rico a filipino not a white guy 7.Carl Jenkins is two different people, both die. 8.MI troopers are deployed from drop pods by ships akin to corvettes, not giant sluggish battlewagons 9.The bugs have technology including energy weapons and spaceships 10.The Buenos Aires attack was closer to Pearl Harbor and less astroid falling 11.There is another alien race called the skinnies that the bugs got the location of earth from 12.During the first Klendathu battle the sky marshall dies fighting a rear guard action so others could escape instead of the movies not seeing combat and just resigning after the battle. 13.There are K9 units with genetically enhanced intellegent dogs that have a psychic link to their masters, and combat engineers 14.No co-ed showers, the M.I. are all male(similar to the army/marines) while the navy is fully integrated. Come on man, even that euro trash Verhoeven at least read a few pages before giving up on it. Even the cast of Aliens read it to prepare for their roles in the film! What gets me the most is that originally the movie wasn't even supposed to be Starship Troopers. It was already in pre-production as something else when the studio realised they had the rights to it and shoehorned ST into it so they could market it better. All in all the novel has more in common with band of brothers or black hawk down than the movie with its name.

I had a similar feeling and expressed it a couple pages back on Starship Operators. It boggles my mind why people think its a good show, it must be the attempt it made at using real world space physics to depict combat. I also finished Tytania by the way and found it very entertaining and well written...

This is what killed "heroes of the pacific" for me. All the planes(including the B-25) flew alike and the roll/pitch was too fast making it impossible to fly certain planes.

1. Don't EVER quote me out of context just to get your fanboy jollies. 2. The context was that anime52k8 posted a comparison of Maia and Sheryl using a crappy screen grab of Maia at her worst found on google image next to a picture of Sheryl that came from one of the MacF artwork books to make Maia look fugly and that the situation could easily be reversed. 3.Maia looks great in her tank top about 3-5 minutes in Its posts like this where I believe we need a facepalm emoticon, I recommend this one But to answer your question its more than looks for the reason I prefer Maia, I like tough gals that can handle their own. Girls like Emeraldas, Aika Sumeragi, Priss Asagiri, and so on. And if you think I'm a HG sycophant you don't know me that well. That doesn't mean I'm going to drop to my knees and choke on anything Big West pumps out with the kite symbol on it either. If anything I'm equally pissed at both because not one damn thing is going to change any time soon and I'm moving on.

Blade Runner?

Its enjoyable, but not the first thing I would grab for 80s mecha action in its original version, which is probly the problem it had when it first aired. It was up against shows that just did it better.

I dunno the art that came with her broken Alpha was okay, and there's definately better screen caps of her from Shadow Chronicles than what you posted.

I know what you are trying to do, and I'm not going to lower myself to it. It would be very easy for me to find a crappy screen grab of Sheryl Nome at her worst and put it side by side with a gussied up line/fan art of Maia. Still though comparing the two pictures they both kinda have screwed up noses... All things aside is there any official artwork of Sheryl where she doesn't look like a costume fetish hooker?

Okay two things 1. The AIKa(agent aika) drinking game. Drink when you see a panty shot. You WILL be dead from alcohol poisoning within the first 10 minutes. 2. I actually prefer prefer Maia Sterling and all her piloting jigglyness to the 17 year old singer that dresses like a space nazi infected with what may as well be a space HIV that is Sheryl Nome. I just picked up Tytania, the second season of queen's blade and *ahem* Girls Bravo. So far I really like Tytania I've been told its like a cross between Tylor and Legend of the Galatctic Heroes. At least Fan Hyurlick isn't as dense or lazy and theres nowhere near the level of slapstickness. I love how he accomplishes the impossible and defeats the big bad invincible empire that had never lost a single battle only to be punished for his victory because his government wanted to lose the battle in the first episode. It also doesn't hurt with Mikimoto's art, Ishiguro directing, and the source material from the LoGH man himself Yoshiki Tanaka As for Queen's Blade I'm about half way through and I'm surprised at the death toll so far(not sure if they are actually dead yet) and the current queen is down right cruel and evil enough to make the swamp witches minions ashamed. I'm royally pissed at what they did to Nyx in the show though. She appears for only 3 seconds in the first season and the only episode she is featured in in the second season sees her pathetically defeated by Elina, Reina's spoiled b**** of a sister that tortured Nyx and humiliated her whe she was a young serving girl at the Vance's castle. Its bad enough that Nyx lost but Elina really rubs it in mockering her, degrading her, and leaving her powerless. It finally with Nyx collapsing in the streets of the city hopeless as a little girl she met earlier offers her some bread. It just really bugs me that a nice and genuinely kind girl had to seek an evil spirit staff that abuses her at its will because of Elina and ends up worse off. It also deviated from the visual combat books making Nyx weaker than she actually is.

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't TNG skip the battle of wolf 359 altogether with the enterprise ariving in the aftermath too late to do anything? I think it was DS-9's pilot episode that actually showed the battle.
