Yea, Yuki is using mostly AFK subs with a touch of Mazui here and there as they don't have their own translator. The subs are slightly changed at some points to remove AFKs more localised translations. I am assuming we wont see any high quality versions till the dvds show up. For me the subs only have to last till I get my hands on the limited editions. But the difference between the quality of both translations and video rendering of the various sub groups is rather large so I'm sticking with AFK and Yuki.

They went a bit overboard in keeping Clannad family friendly. All previous Visual Key projects were adult content, maybe they had something to prove. Anyway, if it wasn't for the last OVA episode there wouldnt even even have been a kiss in the anime.

Also "nice airplane" touch, the bastards know they are trolling and pissing off people, and they don't care. The sheer guts to attempt this with a franchise like Haruhi's. Took me a while to realise this story is full of references to Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer. The theme, the music, the "I love you" suggestion by Kazumi. Also is a Varija a real creature or another Macross reference?

Cannaan certianly looks like one of the few high quality productions of the summer. Hope it delivers, have the first episode but havent gotten round to watch it. As for the summer. Haruhi S2 goes without saying, Basquash and Tears of Tiera for the two cours series. New Spice and Wolf II, and Tokoyo Magnitude. Maybe one of the moe shows will deveop but they all look rather weak. Haven't read the novels either, I think it's Kyon's homework as well. Koizumi pretty much hints that it's up to Kyon to break the deadlock. Mikuru's request for gold fish scooping shows Haruhi doesn't mind helping the brigade members. Yuki is not doing anything and blantantly knows the answer. The only reason times she doesn't take action is when something has to happen between Kyon and Haruhi. Mask is a hint, but I don't get the reference. The 30th in the cafe the point of no return, which points to Kyon again. If there was another activity Haruhi wanted it could have just been mentioned in the first meeting. Only thing left to be done after the 30th is Kyon's homework. So why would Haruhi reset time? My guess is Kyon got expelled or something on the 1st day of school and Haruhi, in an attempt to protect him, turns back time.

One can only hope, the empty cinema when I went to see Eva was a bit disheartening. The common way to pronounce latin words in an english context is with the g from gender. Maybe the voice actor had some classic training, as in scientific latin the g from gum is used. Or more likely, they had no clue at all and just used whatever sounded best.

It wouldn't matter if the movie is released in Japan or not. Copyrights are valid in both US and Japan through the Berne convention. As long as WB has tangible assets in Japan (and they have) they can be affected through Japanese courts without the need of US legal cooperation. I doubt WB would dare to touch the designs. Story wise maybe, wouldnt be to hard to create a generic alien ship crash origen story without the mention of anything Macross. Big West owns the Macross designs at least, see the link on the first page of this thread. BW is not an anime production company however (they act as anime sponsors, advertising is their core bussiness, the creation and management of anime projects is complex and worth a thread on its own). They had Mac II made by another production company. So it's an official Macross production and was always owned by BW.
