I A swingwing beauty indeed. I prefer the Grumman F14 and the Panavia Tornado of the 4th gen fighters. I'm not too fuzzed about delta wings a;though most have their own charms. http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Panavia-Tornado-IDS/1483597/L/&sid=3812243cdbb32a9e606450b0cc418828

Saw it and absolutely loved it. Pure sci-fi goodness and amazing designs. The only annoyance was the shaky camera syndrome, at times it made me feel slightly nauseous.

I hadn't realized the series had progressed so far through the existing manga content, makes sense to slow down. -

'A Wild Sheep Chase' left me quite puzzled, Murakami has a wonderful way of keeping the reader off balance. Working my way trough 'Space Brothers', nice series about adult astronauts in a professional setting for a change. Quite a lot of episodes. Shingeki no Kyojin moving in an interesting direction, shame the plot pace has dropped to almost Dragon Ball levels. -

Saw the first three episodes. I'm loving it, Nice music score and Miyuki Sawashiro voicing another tomboy . -
Hope it can be salvaged. Even though the bird is trashed that sea camo pattern still looks very nice. YF-23, the one example that proves stealth aircraft don't have to be but ugly.

Not selling mine for sure. Must have been weird to see the movie without the built up from the second season though. As for new anime: just finished Journey to Agartha (Mangavideo BD version of Hoshi o Ou Kodomo) by Shinkai. Very impressive yet it has somewhat of a Ghibli feel. Also picked up the first Utena box unseen, but it came highly recommended by a friend, so I'll have a go. -
Syd Mead designs, good actors and socio-critical sci-fi...I'm sold.

I think movies like Iron man and ID4 had a better balance with the main characters all being a bit quirky. In Pacific Rim the Gipsy Danger pilots and the commander were straight men while the others were mostly comic relief. The scientists themselves weren't so bad, I just think the Kaiju-drift subplot just fell out of tune with the tone of the movie. I feel that Gorman's Torchwood character Owen Harper would have meshed better with the storyline than the mad professor persona.

Pacific Rim only opened here today and I managed to see it after work with some friends. Loved it, certainly up there with the better sci-fi action flicks. The good: a lot of love went in to this project and it created a fitting atmosphere and feel, quite rare for a Hollywood production to capture the essence of foreign concepts. The two pilot formula was a nice way of exploring the human relationships. Another plus was the positive atmosphere of human cooperation, and no supernatural nonsense. The bad: the acting was not exactly top notch. Nationalities were mostly caricatures, particularly the Russians who could have walked in from Rocky 4, the rude Australians and the eccentric English professor. Positive exception was Idris Elba who really managed to deliver his sometimes corny lines with grace.

Free was odd. I've only seen the personality types used for female characters before. It was kind of like a gender bent version of K-on. -
And for something a little bit different: and a touch of retro:

More Monogatari can't hurt for sure. I'll probably catch the new Kyoani show and the new noitamina, Gin no Saji, as well. Plus I have a lot of episodes of Yamato2199 to catch up on, the second disk has been stuck in customs for ages. -

Plot has been quite predictable, but the atmosphere, nice animation and retro feel make up for it. Enjoyable show so far.

That was around the time when you paid $40 to $80 for a regular movie on VHS. On-demand technology has driven down prices of media content to the point physical media can hardly compete, except through large internet retailers. Media brick and mortar stores are dropping like flies. The only thing that seems to get more and more expensive is the bloody footy . Broadcasters are charging me a fortune to see the big 4 leagues and the CL... -

I didn't ask for a textbook definition, but an opinion on the topic given the grey areas. I'll be nice and assume it's a lack of English comprehension, not a case of shitty attitude, but thanks for answering anyway. I'll leave it at that. -

I doubt many fans have a clear view on the history of anime before the arrival of widespread broadband internet. Information before that time was hard to come by and, while generalizing, most fans are not particularly interested in older material. This board is a bit of an exception given the preference for mecha. Fansubs help fans with one of the major problems: Fans have limited money, they can spend it only once. So many fans want to try before they buy. In absence of Japanese TV networks that broadcast anime, fansubs were the only way to sample material (before streaming services like crunchy roll). Western fans on average do spend money but rather on merchandise and collectors editions of material they like. Licensed anime on physical media like DVD has become a ultra niche market for fans that want dubs, especially outside of the major markets like the US and France. -
I had skipped over the old YF19 in favor of the later VF-19 derivatives, but this one is a high prio to complete the set of Valkyries from Plus. Can't wait.

Built quality of 40k has improved quite a bit since 4rth edition, but it is certainly true that the engineering is still significantly behind those of some Asian modelkit manufactures. Personally I tend to appreciate building a well fitting kit every once in a while given the usual tidying up involved with Games workshop miniatures or Gunpla.
