  1. and don't forget to check the threads regarding decal application! you need lukewarm water, trim the individual decals out of the sheet, and dip for around 10-30 seconds according to personal preference and water temperature. I am the last person qualified to talk about this, but wanted to give you an early warning before you dunk the whole sheet of decals into cold water !
  2. westfal, you said you used stickers on the intakes? that looks like decals to me, never thought the sticker would be so "conforming"!?
  3. Well, just how realistic is to have a giant robot (read Gundam) jumping around on Earth and in climactic fights, even flying around with no wings whatsoever (Turn A)...one word: "anime magic" (oh wait, that's two words ))
  4. I just realized, they also cut corners with the (hides under a table) big macross screws behind the cockpit, they left the vernier thrusters unpainted!

    Yamato Toy TV

I do keep some level of fingernails, but avoid picking nose in public...I realized it's a good idea to keep a little length in my nails so I can handle the fiddly little toys all around the house (bluffing, they're either on my desk or in the cabinet)...so it's not for craving my nasal orifices! About clipping nails...yeah, just the other day there was this middle-aged (construction worker?) cutting his toenails in the freakin bus, WTF? That girl is acting like a typical TV presenter in Japanese TV, and that is being mimicked by most Asian female presenters, trying to act "cute" (moe, loli) all the time, and in Japan, expressing awe at the slightest tiny thing (a spoonful of soy sauce in a gourmet program, a small gadget in a flea market in some travel program, is a MUST. It's not me watching, I cannot avoid catching a glimpse every once in a while, sometimes I do it for the sake of scientific research (EDIT I live between Taiwan and Hong Kong, so I am exposed to Japanese stuff a bit more when in Taiwan (which is really more culturally influenced by Japan than Hong Kong).
  6. 不客氣,但你也該盡量練練英語啊! 我不熟悉大陸的網上用語,謝謝釐清LZ... 回答你:wm cheng 已經盡力找出他所能找到的原帖,但很多還是不見了。連版主都無能為力! OK, here I go again, he explains the meaning of "LZ", which in Chinese Internet slang abbreviates Louzhu, or "Master of the Building", in fact it means thread starter, original author...so in short, the guy is asking for wm cheng to find his old threads...(we did that, we all did!) I explained him that wm cheng already did a great effort and probably not even Graham can help dig out the old threads, and that it's probably a good idea for him to practice his English a bit!
  7. Would it be appropriate for the Fraulein Revoltecs to tackle the character? it's a man after all... What has been said in the last 3 pages are a good reflection of my own wishes, but to put it simple: 1) revoltech: mecha, make them Zentradi and whatever they can licence, I'd even buy a Vajra (I prefer GN-Do for their assembly, finish, overall look and feel, but hate the price) 2) revoltech fraulein: female characters of pretty much everybody (female), include Geppernitch too 3) Bandai: plamo of Frontier valks but in 1/48 scale, sturdier and less "scratchy", make the VF-25s, and the Antares 1 for crying out loud! (I will be happy enough with 1/72 for the last one)...I remember those pre-painted Enterprise kits we got some years back, I am a terrible model painter, but can decently assemble one...personal preference! 4) Bandai VF-100: long live the series! make more obscure mecha (no, we don't need yet another VF-1)!! less partsforming!! relocate and lock the legs of the VF-25!!!!! (and keep it affordable) 5) Yamato: last but not least 1/60 Regults (I need at least 2 of them for my lonely VF-1s...they need to be as pose-friendly and wallet-friendly as the 1/60 Destroids, make them 200 bucks and keep 'em on the shelves Yamato! Maybe I am alone, but would like to have diecast aircraft models of the VFs in Fighter mode (obvious), conventional 1/72 scale...again because I suck at building kits, or 1/200, because I have lots of 1/200 diecast real-world aircraft models already.
  8. Interesting, then I guess you got yours before I arrived and the one I saw was "the last one" (typical excuse when they don't want to bother taking out more or let you check). Almost run into each other or maybe even did so in the shops around cheeky cheeky yeah yeah...(quoting "Superbad"), this is one of those "OH, now I see the whole picture!" moments. I can't stand the sagging legs either, hence the blue-tac, which is not such a strong "glue"...but good enough to play "chase the Vajra" or "where is Michel?" with the HGIF. Also, the 1/100s look around the same scale as the non-scale YF-19 and YF-21 of the Yamato GN-Do non-transformables. 1/100 is a mecha scale, 1/60 is almost an exclusively Macross scale. 1/72 is mil aircraft scale, and if toys were that scale and looked closer to the model kits...you know where my money would be going to.
  9. I think it was discussed somewhere, but now there is graphic evidence that the cannon fodders (which I don't even recall seeing blown up as often as the NUNS' VF-171!) were "G" in a golden/tan paint scheme. I actually think they look greenish-gold and not khaki like the old VF-1 cannon fodders. I am not sure, but since it's basically a G with a different color scheme, Bandai will probably be slower in coming out with it. Maybe in the movie they get more screen time and a different designation/head!? recipe for more Bandai-fest. David, can we see how's yours coming together? you seem to have been doing some very very careful detailed work, but I kind of lost track how far you've come!
  10. Man, what a waste, at least you could have given the battroid mode a chance! Actually I keep them in fighter mode, first thing I did was to partsform the new "S" into fighter and put it side by side with the "F", and by the way, is that a cannon fodder ZakuII shoulder poking out in the shelf below? I see a green spike
  11. I did find it for HK$$248 today at around 20:00 at in's point, so maybe we bumped into each other? anyway, I actually bought it HK$2 more expensive in richmond111, reason? one of the female shop keepers was a b!tch to me, just because I was looking into the box (the little ozma had a bit of a paint problem in the foot) and did not fork the money in 4 seconds, she started complaining, asking me if I knew how much it has coasted her (...WTF?!) I just walked away. Back home with the "S" I said I'd NEVER buy, first thing I did was look at the backplate in case the big feature in the Ozma skull 1 were misprinted! that was completely flawless, but there are some yellow over black, yellow paint chip, and my rough handling during transformation did rub some light gray paint off, but it's not to die for. (yes, most of the lighter gray is painted on, so I think are some other major areas so unlike the almost fully bare "F", the "S" is pretty much a properly painted little model). (EDIT: Bandai did go lazy on this one, the tailfins for the battroid mode don't have "SMS" printed on, I know it would be rarely seen when wings fold in, but there were printed on in the first issue "F"!) The head looked a bit on the big side to be honest, very cool sculpt and paintwork, and I can confirm it has a translucent visor, had to put it against the light to verify. I used blue tack, and had to add some more to the sides of the arms, where the legs are tightly packed, so blue tack on knee and lower arms, and no more sagging. Still: c'mon Bandai, give us a peg somewhere! it's not rocket science! I will now swear I will not buy the "G", but who knows...following is an illustration of what happened once in the SMS hangar when the "G" went missing during a scouting of an area supposedly controlled by a faction of rebel Meltrandi (Galia VI??). Capitain Klan demanded an explanation from Ozma who had just landed.
  12. Does look very nice in fighter mode, but I disagree with you regarding the looks of the 1/72 model: that looks even better, albeit without the landing gears, because the nose gear in the model is placed too forward. I think the model looks best in all three modes, but it no fun to play with because parts are so delicate (=detailed). I am starting to have my doubts, probably should wait for the armored versions to come out since Ozma was almost always armored and they promised to fix the crotch/leg in that one... let's hope prices drop to about HK$ 230 and I'll jump in, fix or no fix it won't matter
  13. Kill time? no vf kits? crossing to the dark side and getting a guncrap?!! I have a better idea: BUILD MINE!!!! build mine...build mine...build mine instead.... Seriously, I cannot get myself the time or the "feel" to start building the SMS squad! how does one finish the Superpack "S" in 5 hours (!!!) The Armored "S" does look like it's going to be a heavy sucker. and the Superpack boosters are already causing quite some strain on the backplate/wingfold hinges, so I wonder how the super booster+nukes+whatnot will be held on one single hinge? or do we get a different basic "S" for the bundle? I am very sure it comes with the stand for a reason: it simply cannot stand without it. I am still sold, no time to build but I have to have the hope of building them. and guys, the w.i.p. and finished product pictures are encouraging, yet if anyone is really really really bored, there is a SMS squad waiting for your skilled hands!
  14. Same here, and thanks to Graham and his praise, I am convinced now, completely forgot about the crotch/leg location problem in battroid. I can't play with the model kits, can't stand the looks of the DX...if these 100s keep improving, my wallet is really going to leave me for another man.
  15. At your service, with all the tips and examples you're setting, translating a few lines is nothing. Vifam is translating all the Japanese color code for the 1/72 kits...Gubaba is translating..what is he not translating??! Here goes a crude word by word translation: 漂亮! "too bad some links are broken, would love to see, would LZ god be able to fix this? PS: could anyone be kind enough to help me translate this very warm expectation of mine to LZ? thanks in advance!!" I am not sure who's LZ or what it stands for...is it any of the mods?
  16. I agree, I have the 1/60 Yamato Millia and this does not look like a mod but more like a scratch build, that's why I think it's a nice job! I insist Bandai would be doing me a favor if it took my money with a 1/72 Q-rea, it just needs to be taller than a VF-25 for sure...not sure what's the "real" size, but the bigger the better! Of the VF-25 customs shown earlier, I only like the cannon fodder (who actually never get shot, the NUNS VF-171 do get blown up all the time). That "S" has a weird modded fast/super/armor pack with nukes that just does not look better than the lineart/original design.
  17. Thanks for the close up pictures, the circling and the description. I guess I can imagine (or remember) how the 1st issue looks like now. Definitely doesn't bother to have that dorsal hole sealed, and the head lasers on the "F" would cover those rectangular holes anyway in fighter model...again, this makes me want the DX even more seeing the improvements! You probably misunderstood, if you do NOT have holes under the head lasers, then you have a 1st issue!
  18. Yeah...the Megahouse micron Klan looks like a cosplay Klan really. Nicely made figure, seems better quality (paint and sculpt) than the Banpresto figures, but it just looks like someone else. And the kid in a swimsuit, I know, it feels like sth. is just not right Ms. Vostok 7 had the exact same reaction as Ms. Regult!! To be honest I was also a bit troubled by the exaggeration but I got used to it, and it just looks like Klan in the anime, and especially the box art on DVD #8 Ragarding the Q-rea, 1/60 would be great (or plamo 1/72!!), but it will probably end up the same height (or less) thanas this Banpresto figure. I am still puzzled at why A prize, namely Klan Klan is always cheaper in auction sites in Japan and also in Hong Kong...personally I think it's really the most anime-accurate of the 3.
  19. As many VF as Gundams would be a nightmare...for the wallet, who recently is not happy with me, neither is the bank account, they already had some problems and now there is an explosion of Macross toys.
  20. I placed the first request for SV-51 wings, and I guess I am the only one in the planet, over 3 months passed and got no reply whatsoever from them. Is it a rule to become open an account at Overdrive FIRST? that's not what I understood from the form I filled just once more a few days ago to remind them.
  21. How do humans achieve these kind of model making feats??! I'd have buy the Q-rea in custom Klan red in the blink of an eye...c'mon Bandai, c'mon and get my money!!!!
  22. I am truly grateful for the pics in clean fighter configuration and compared to the G, but I am going to be very nasty and sorry for asking but can anyone show us that hole for the RVF that's on the second issue (shall we call it V2.0??) and not on the first issue? So far we see that it can show more nose cone in battroid, head lasers angle out too, and in fighter the wings don't have such a dramatic dihedral. I still feel some sort of pain when I see the landing gear, but I am really getting used to the DX...on the other hand, and this is OT, I am so amazed at the DX Quarter! my hobby money is spread too thin, so I have to be very selective!
  23. And to bump it up again, has anybody scans of HobbyJapan May issue showing the unpainted but transformed in cruiser mode Quarter? I was in a magazine stand but didn't buy the whole magazine, there were only a very few pages dedicated to Macross, but the point is, it looked great in cruiser mode to, probably not as "cruiser" as Battle Frontier, because you could "smell" transformation almost everywhere in the toy, but hey, that's how it looked in the anime anyway! I am really warming up to this new toy, but the wallet is complaining with the wife. (the wife is kept in the dark)
  24. Noted, need to sing Aimo to call other swarms, other networks, that's exactly what Ranka explained...I overlooked that Point two, I remember the sequence: Alto uses his eye-tracking device to lock on the Queen's neck, shoots missiles, severs the head, Grace cries desperate: instead of her clean naked "avatar" she is back to real form, looking worried and at a loss tangled in her own tentacles, then, still attached but powerless, she witnesses her own death by Alto's VF-25 with Michel's sniper rifle, right after detaching Armor parts (background: we see naked avatars of the girls singing). All this happened very quickly. Maybe that sequence suggested to me she lost control when the head was severed...also, it would be pointless to sever the Queen's head (suggested by Brera and Ranka, that it would not really kill the Queen to do so), Grace needed to physically connect to the Queen to control her, and the head was the access point, yet the Queen and all Vajras don't really need heads (WTF?)...getting too analytical is probably a futile exercise.
  25. Depends on your definition of "fixed". Unless I was ripped-off by a dishonest shop owner, my VF-0S Version 3 (?) standalone, no Ghost but with the extra padding for the tailfins cannot compare to a V 2.0 1/60 VF-1 in terms of solidness, perfectly locking parts...On the "V 3.0" VF-0S the shoulder/arms are the latest version (have screws), ball joints are rubber padded, etc. It's nice and I love it coz it's a Focker Special, but you don't expect a totally revamped VF-0. Considering the SV-51 is at discount prices almost everywhere I look, and the inconsistencies with the VF-0, Macross Zero toys never meant great business...I am not sure Yamato will burn more cash on that franchise but I'd like to be proven wrong and get a reactive armor for example! Or a "Version 3.0" SV-51 with no more floppy mess and or wings that break out of the box (still waiting fingers crossed for a reply from Overdrive, requested parts 2 or 3 months ago?). Make it in a totally new packaging so we're not concerned if it's a floppy mess, a reissue, a repack...
