what? nobody is playing? I know where G-man is in the pic!
-
Well, it would be perfectly normal for the 1/100 fighter to not have enough clearance for this 1/72 sniper rifle (confirmed) would take pictures, but my 1/72 is still unassebled. The Aoi Mokei review shows a nose wheel pointing backwards.

for those who own or do not own the 1/72 plamo, the VF-100's sniper rifle is EXACTLY the same size! I just compared them out of pure curiosity, and was amused at how lazy Bandai was this time

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
regult replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I know...the fighter mode looks so overloaded! The battroid is good though! but also wonder how long it will take to become an overall floppy mess, or worse, start cracking, definitely to display in one mode only, a waste considering it does actually transform into all 3 modes, but just not worth the risk and the inevitable damage to the finish. -
Yeah, was there too yesterday, that's why when I saw the thing for HK$ 295 I thought "what the heck, I am getting the G for a (eventually) complete skull squad"...then examined 3 copies in their boxes until I settled for the one I thought was OK, until I got home and saw the beautiful "gluemanship". On a positive note, after an unnecessarily time wasting "discussion" with the shop owner, she finally agreed to reluctantly exchange the crappy toy for a new one, not without complaining that she cannot get a replacement from her supplier, and hinting it was my fault (WTF?) that I didn't do QC correctly. This time I asked her to at least take the trays out of the box so I could see it. I examined the thing without taking it out completely because it really is mummified in tape and plastic. As ff95gj guessed, the sniper rifle IS actually assembled like that, 2 pieces stuck together... only the first one I had was horribly glued and misaligned as you can see from the pictures in the first post. I really don't get why Bandai can make such a piece of overpriced toy with such crappy QC. Ultimately, I am the one to blame, for liking macross stuff and bothering to buy the VF-100s! (PS. Opened the box at home now, and the sucker has a spuerglue smudge on the right foot...I will sand that with 2000-grit paper and forget about this nightmare)

Hi there everybody, I purchased the latest VF-25G from the VF-100s series in Hong Kong yesterday, and I was appaled when I opened the box at home and discovered that the sniper rifle's "open" section was actually broken AND glued back in, right out of the box!!! I am really quite appaled at the ridiculous situation, the VF-25G was out only 2 days ago, so I don't think this is a used and repacked item, so it was most likely broken right from the start somewhere in China. It is very difficult if not impossible to tell the rifle's front section was glued back w/o opening the box and taking away the upper layers of the complicated packaging. The shop I got it from is "Toys for Life" in the Oriental 188 building in Wanchai (250 and 242, second floor), the shop owners said on the phone they had run out of stock and could not replace the item 3 hours after my purchase. At the time, there were at least 4 copies in the shelves, so either they sell like hotcakes (unlikely given the high price) or the owner is a liar and just does not want to bother doing some after sales service). I hope this does not happen to anyone.

Saw the G today, really big box compared to the F and the S. The toy itself is the same basic model, with the extra wings with speakers, and that huge sniper rifle just as tall as the VF! The gun "opens" much easier than the DX, you unpluck the fore part of the "closed" rifle, snap in the "open" replacement and you're good to go. The rifle is really far too big to be 1/100, lowest price in town was HK$310...I was tempted, but given the prce drops for the previous two releases, I think I will wait. Besides...that rifle is freakin' huge! did I say that already?
-
1/144 is a big enough to pack some decent dose of details and landing gears! That would make these stand apart from the tiny 1/250. I am also not sure I would pay for it if it turns out to be PVC. Although everything seems fixed in this toy, on the positive side, the legs are "retracted" all the way up.
-
Crap! I can never wait until the prices drop... Will have to be patient and wait then. I am not sure if there will eventually be a RVF, without it, I am not sure I still want to get the G in this series. Prefer the kits anyday, only I never had the chance to build them yet!

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
regult replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
that's exactly what I heard too, since the kit does NEED one, the stand is included in the box, so together they make the pack cost double the price of a regular "clean" VF-25. the wing/backplate hinge reinforcement is very welcome, it actually fixes the wings folded, but I am not seeing myself transforming this monster more than once, to get the battroid out after assembly, that's IT! I am implying I will buy it, but...I am a bit scared after looking at the pile of 4 unassembled kits. -
is this release available in Hong Kong already? if positive, how much are they asking for the extra wings and is the sniper rifle a substitution of the gunpod or an addition? one last question, has anybody got that stand? I'd like to display my fighters inflight...is there an alternative?
-
i am unfamiliar with "copic markers" here we get "gundam markers" which can potentially destroy a V2.0 VF-1 when it is oil based (?) I think Dobber was it who had a bad experience with applying and wiping excessive marking. please illuminate me on this issue. Your ZPEZIAL looks godly good, reminds me of the 3D model used in the series.

cannot see the trailer, me not have account... macross plus style movie? but the OVA was not much longer than the film with only 4 episodes, how do you tell a 25 episode story in an average sized movie? It's probably not going to be told in a way too close to the TV series!

Overdrive now offering replacement parts for Yamato
regult replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Your explanation is what I fear, since the SV-51 is on discount, I'd think it hasn't sold out and Yamato is trying to get rid of inventory...the Ivanov is going at an even bigger discount, so I guess it's a sign, but I may be proven wrong. Yes, I know it comes to Yamato at the end, I just paraphrased the title of this thread because everybody asking for VF-1 and VF-0 arms have been lucky, but not many asked for relatively more "obscure" products like the SV-51. -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
regult replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That topic was one of my main concerns in the "Height of the Zentradi" in case we eventually did get a Queadluun-Rea model. Now we do!... the size of the battle suit is quite inconsistent: sometimes it's huge (when the pilots need to be seen "inside" or "coming out" of it, but then it becomes a normal-sized battroid when standing side to side with VFs (episode 25, Luca's RVF-171EX-not sure about the designation- helps a shot-down Klan, hear head being the size of the cockpit, yet the whole suit is about he size of the VF!!!) Here is a different close up not seen here previously from hobbystock, you do see the brush strokes on the figure...and there seems to be really very little room for anything other than the arms, uh...boobs, nothing else! The blurry picture taken presumably with a phone was from top-down, and you can guess there is a bit more Zentran torso in there, but no sign of legs (picture located a few pages back this thread ), guess we'll eventually find out. -

Yes, that's what I said, maybe we could have an optional helmet wearing head, coz this one looks cute!!! -
Those are not "decals" but "stickers", water slide decals conform much better than the stickers. Making it non-transformable, then it would only be a huge fighter only model from Bandai? much unlikely...but who knows? no other mode shown. Notice how the VF-27 mockup shown beside it had at least 2 out of 3 modes made, this 1/48 is fighter only and there is no other data available. Locking machanisms or magnets would be a MUST to a 1/48 transformable, bigger and heavier model, otherwise the mammoth would be just one big floppy mess!

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
regult replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just to keep this fever going w/o swine, the Quealuun Rea model kit does look good: (photos sourced from blog.hobbystock.jp) 1) no need for transformation, only onpen/close hatch, removeable gunpod (missing from the red one, seen on the mockup), and articulations, lots of articulations! 2) klan pilot figure included (?) but not wearing a helmet (!), we never see her riding the armor without a helmet, considering she gets blown up mid-space at least tiwce in the show, it's not a good idea to go commando like that, maybe there should be an optional helmet-wearing head? 3) legs spread out quite wide, much better artciulation than the old 1/60 Yammie, hopefully it will be very poseable and hold these poses on the SMS stand, I'd need the whole Pixie Squad then! (RIP Raramia, my avatar...). There is good and evil, I am happy with wider leg motion, but that connector is visually quite intrusive (just compare to the mockup)! 4) there is one color scheme that I am sure will be very welcome, the Kamjin-clone guy in Galia IV...very classic olive drab, sand...much like a Zaku II or actually any military vehicle. 5) the kit does look a bit small compared to the VF-27 mockup, it's not taller than it, and I'd expect/want it to be at least a (big) head taller than the battroid valks, say about 25 cm. tall would be perfect...well, I guess nothing is perfect! 6) just wondering, has anyone seen the lower half of that Klan figure piloting the Q-rea? point is, does she sit inside or stand in the backpack like the old 1/60 Yamato? or...there is no lower half?!! Klan should be at least 9 cm tall in 1/72 scale to make any sense...such a big figure without lmbs is just sad in a MG-like model! my thoughts only... -

actually I think the leg placement in this VF-27 mock up is exactly the same as the final VF-25 release, notice how the intakes' upper tip sit flush with the upper limit of the "crotch"? that's the whole point of the leg placement, otherwise legs always get blocked. -
Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.5
regult replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
it is kind of weird there are so many announcements in the model front, yet there is nothing on the DX Quarter, no huge progress in coloring the DX Armor for a more attractive display...and no VF-27 or 171 prototype whatsoever so far. Today and tomorrow are trade days, weekend will be open to general public, I am not sure we'll get any surprises. (The 1/250 boxes are seen somewhere in the pictures too, anything on display?) -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
regult replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, stop the speculation regarding licensing issues...we need to come up with a plan to get these things for free or rob a bank and make room for them! Actually, I am not that sure the 1/48 VF-25 is a priority, and now I suddenly had the feeling it was a stupid idea to stock up the entire SMS Squad in 1/72 and not build them while they were hot. I am sure glad I never bought any of Bandai's DX crap, although I was close to compulsive buying last week! The VF-27 and Queadlunn Rea are both 1/72 I suppose, so I am probably giving the 48th only one chance, and that will have to depend on factors yet to be discovered as the real samples start to show up. There is also the addictive VF-100s collection, which I am "glad" to find that the new armored version has the same misplaced leg to crotch connector as the old version, no improvement yet as seen in the Shizuoka production sample (first pictures were deceiving); that's one I can skip if it stays wrong like this, and will prompt me to give up the series altogether (so far got the F and S, nothing on pre-order). In short, seems I will definitely have to stick to Bandai plastic models for a while if I want Frontier stuff...problem is now we have a grand new scale and the room for improvements is mind-boggling! -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
regult replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
exactly how I feel now, I'd like to add 1/72 Antares 1!!! want want want!!! 1/72 Q-rea!!! want want want!!!! (the wallet: "NO!! you've had enough toys for this year! now go feed me more money!!!" -
didn't anybody notice the VF-27 kit mock-up behind??! seems the Antares 1 is finally going to get the 1/72 treatment *by the looks of this pic compared to the 1/48 VF-25 at the front, that VF-27 looks 72ndish to me. Not sure about "completed" model though, it's on display with the kit base and with the kit "look&feel" all over it.

So it seems, that's why I was always wondering if the first photos we saw were trustworthy. Bandai: lazy bastards!
-
Not sure about the articulations being so visible...maybe they should attempt to add some "skin" (a la Evangelion rubbery skins) or an actual "space suit" to the figure, w/o the sewing QC issues of the Mospeada figures with self-exploding pants. It is very articulated for sure!
