Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
regult replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
c'mon, we all know there is no logical in-universe explanation for this. Alto got the YF-29 because he's Alto, period. -
exact same problem as mine. It's been forced down, the plastic on mine was still there, in a blob. I had to shave it so there was no gap between cockpit and chestplate. I think yours was assembled/transformed by the same monkey as mine.
-
Plastic that cannot tolerate stress fails and chips with time, but out of the box brand new? that's bad QC, and also bad materials that could eventually crack and fail anyway. Let's not forget the yellowing...it's both QC and engineering IMO. I also had a horrible paint smudge on my VF-25F, but I didn't mention it because I can fix it with my tools and experience. I cannot fix the bad engineering.
-
Imagine how I feel about mine: I had to retouch the indentation with some black paint so the chipping is not so obvious. But it is still quite obvious in all three modes.

I watched it with Chinese subtitles, I guess they were just acceptable. Any case, I was afraid to say this, but heck: I didn't like the second one. Actually the problem was not only the Zero-type ending (which was predictable IMO). I felt that there was a general lack of creativity and although not much animation was recycled (only minor parts like the VF-171 launch?), there was a lot of Macross history tribute. I guess what I am saying is: fan service for the younger viewers and lots of nostalgia for Macross fans, but lacking that edge SDF or DYRL had back in the day. Also, it'd probably be hard to digest for un-educated audiences that just want to watch good anime and not necessarily looking for moe. -
I think I've made a mistake by installing fluorescent lights in the display cabinet. Actually, there is probably only the dinning light that's still incandescent, and I am about to change that too, maybe when LED lights drop a bit.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
regult replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It doesn't get enough/too much screen time, depending on your preferences. I personally would have liked more VF-25... and then you plan on selling it?? -
Maybe out of topic, but since someone already posted a screenshot of the movie, I noticed they gave the VF-27 a sort of super pack in it...doesn't look great IMO, but wondering if that'd become an addition to the webshop exclusive repertoire? By the way, wasn't the YF-25 supposed to have a different cockpit canopy? The one in the screenshot is almost exactly like a regular VF-25, except maybe the head.
-
Out of the box, mine has some sloppy paint application on the knee, but there is a gap between the cockpit and engine lerx (chest/waist in Battroid). Apparently somebody at the factory forced it in and the locking tabs pushed the soft plastic down. I had to clean that little mess and now there is a tiny hole where it should be flush. On a side note, my VF-27Gamma now has extremely lose joints, I transformed it maybe four times in all these years. Never stayed outside fighter mode. Cheers Bandai!

thanks to ff95gj, I already got mine! Also thanks to Graham for helping "scout" the shops few days before. I am just back home and fiddling with the VF-25F.
-
It's expected earliest end of this week, or around the 26th in the streets here in Hong Kong. I hope when I am back it's still available at a reasonable price. No shops accept reserves/preorders at this point and stock should be low.
-
If I am to get the Ozma, it HAS to be armored, period.
-
For me it was actually the price, maybe also because it was not too much of a hero mecha, a very big maybe.
-
I may have to scout Monkok tomorrow afternoon/evening but I don't expect to see it yet. Hope they'll still have them for a reasonable price after next Wed. I feel I cannot do without one, naked or armored. The VF-25 looks better naked than with Super Packs, in my opinion. The Ozma Armored version is a different story
-
Thanks ff95gj, I wasn't looking for places to preorder in the streets, the online retailers...it was a matter of luck. I hope I can still get one off the streets when it's out but since I will be out of Hong Kong until next Wed (again, was out last week)...it gets a bit complicated.
-
sorry to ask, when is this supposed to be released in Japan? those in Hong Kong, when can we expect to find it on the streets? (I was late for preorders)

What ever happened to MW Co-Founder Shawn?
regult replied to Shaorin's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
probably we should all take the chance to thank him! -
I was already thinking about the F-111 when I clicked "add reply"... I don't think you were seriously "defending" Bandai for the curved wing, but more like a tongue-in-cheek.
-
Yes, but when's the last time you saw a fighter jet's wings flex like that?
-
I actually never thought of adding a DX to my collection until I saw pictures of the VF-27, especially in fighter and gerwalk modes. The VF-25 was awful in looks, quality and engineering, I was ready to wait for years, and finally the second version comes up, not a long wait I must add. I remember there was much more publicity for the VF-27, unless we missed something, the amount of pictures for the DX VF-25 V2 is quite modest.
-
ok, maybe "completely" is a bit of an exaggeration, but "superficial" is a big understatement. Single laser and monoeye aside, the contours (how the "face" wraps around the "eye"), the back of the head (especially the lower back), the vents, all look quite similar in both designs. Of course it's not the same head, but it's definitely a closer relative than let's say that of the VE-1 and the VF-27.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
regult replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It feels like the VF-19 Kai is the most carefully, lovingly crafted valk toy to date...too bad I cannot convince myself to like the design yet, and I don't hate Basara at all. Seems I am missing out but I am sure my wallet thanks me, for now (I have other plans for it)
