No, it couldn't. Last year, Mikimoto said that he didn't want to do animation anymore.
-
They had no space fleets until they hijacked one. They caused guerilla warfare across America...there were no attacks in Australia EXCEPT the Grand Cannon destruction.
-
It's obviously not Mikimoto.
-
It looked good, don't get me wrong. I prefer the DVD release, but others may well prefer the BD.

It's in "Misa Hayase: White Reminiscences." Admittedly, the Mars Base crew was evacuated in order to become soldiers on earth (which is why the Anti-Unification League killed them) but they were unarmed at the time.
-
That's neither here nor there, really. I'm saying that the Anti-Unification League committed terrorist acts. Telling me that others have, too, doesn't really address the issue. So let me ask you: why isn't killing, unprovoked, the unarmed Mars Base fleet a terrorist act?

At the Shibuya "Macross the Design" exhibit, they had a TV playing a promo for the BD. I was kind of surprised by how it looked...unlike the 2008 DVD remaster, which had a softer, more muted color palette, the BD was really bright and colorful, more like the AnimEigo DVDs.

I would say the killing the returning Mars Base fleet counts, especially since they were unarmed. Assassinating the UN's Prime Ministr might qualify, too. Also destroying one of the Grand Cannons. Yes, it was a weapon, but its direction was turned pretty clearly OUTWARD. It couldn't be used to attack any target on earth.
-
Because they perform terrorist acts.

Oh, one thing I recalled this morning when I woke up... Anyone remember this comic cover? Well, there was some pre-production art at the exhibit that was VERY similar, except that the battroid was in mid-air, and closer to the foreground (i.e. closer to the actual size). Makes me wonder how much of the art HG had access to.

Just got back from "Macross the Design" in Shibuya. Pretty great exhibit! Here's the ticket: My favorite stuff was definitely old storyboard and script booklets, as well as a lot of the sketches and early designs, but I really geeked out at Basara's guitar and Hikaru's photo album, with an upside-down Minmay poster above in, and "Runner" playing in the background. I turned around, saw the poster, and burst out laughing. My girlfriend (who hasn't seen much Macross) asked me, "Is it a mistake?" Seeing Kawamori's Lego Valks was pretty great, too. Overall, I was surprised at how LARGE the exhibit was. And it was nice to see that, although every Macross series was represented, the focus was really on the original. EDIT: Huh. Not sure why the pic came out backwards...Let's try it again.

Never mind.

You know that there's no information one way or another about stuff like that. I think you're thinking about it MUCH harder than either the original creators or the game developers.

But...the Gold Book said that he died. Is the Gold Book wrong?

Finished Book 3 today. Started Book 4. Heard a crow cawing just a moment ago. Got freaked out.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

Oh, that's only still about 1/3 of the way through. It gets far crazier after that. I read the whole comic in Japanese about ten years ago. I'd like to do a scanlation of it one of these days... -
You'd kill a sweet, decent guy like Riber for THAT...? You make me sick.
-
You'll also be able to hang out with Takashi Hayase and his lovely daughter.

Yeah...but when the underdog is assassinating prime ministers, nuking Russia, blowing up Grand Cannons, and killing unarmed Mars Base returnees, I think they've lost some of that "underdog luster." I wished that they'd done another OVA, as well, but after reading the comic, I understand why they didn't. Basically, they cut out all the plot that was happening in Asran. In the comic, by the time Shin goes back, a lot has been happening and everything is set up for the finale. But in the OVA series, with all that set up gone, there was simply no way for the film-makers to adapt the final storyline. -
Enh...I don't see a "neither side" here...either you're for unification, or against it. What's the middle ground?
-
No, I getcha that the Anti-Unification League may have had good reasons for doing what they did...but hey, in real life, I believe that the end NEVER justifies the means, for the sole reason that when the means are employed, the end is still unknown (and unknowable). The Anti-Unification League that launched the attack on the Mars Base crew, for example, might have been surprised by the way the attack ended.
