  1. I'm not even sure I can bring MYSELF to listen...
  2. Ah...I still agree with Siskel and Ebert. If it had been "realistic," the kids would've been all killed in ten minutes, and the movie would've been a short subject.
  3. いつですか?
  4. It could, I suppose, stand for "Versus"...
  5. I don't recall ever hearing that...
  6. You mean, apart from the many events, the musical, and the blu-rays? Possibly.
  7. But... Basara IS Vajra... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Heavenly_Generals
  8. I would caution everyone not to get their hopes up regarding new footage. I doubt there will be very much.
  9. Are you saying that Basara killed himself?
  10. Funnily enough, I'm also rewatching all of Space Battleship Yamato. Still awesome, after all these years.
  11. I can't win, I guess. I've always mentioned that Zomeo and Zoliet bit, and always got shouted by people who disagreed with it. So, in order to spare being lectured, I decided not to say it this time...and get lectured about it anyway.
  12. I'm sorry...I don't see the word "Macross" in there anywhere...
  13. It sounds like a old movie...
  14. I saw your sarcasm and was playing along...sorry, I thought you got that.
  15. GET. OUT.
  16. I dunno if this thread has reached a new low or a new high...
  17. Off-topic, I know, but I think Hikuro has a point. His fandub was taken by someone else, and that someone else slapped a link to his website on Hikuro's fandub, as though he created the fandub. Obviously, there's not much Hikuro can do about it, and it's often the way of the internet, but that doesn't mean that Hikuro's wrong for being annoyed by it.
  18. Hmmm... Vol. 3, No. 8 of Animerica (August '95) had a big focus on Yamato (more info here), and in the filmography there (written by Robert Fenlon), three distinct timelines are mentioned. The first timeline is just Yamato and Farewell. The second has Yamato, Yamato 2, The New Voyage, Be Forever, and Yamato III (listing Yamato III as taking place in 2205). The third timeline swaps out Yamato III for Final Yamato. There's a note to the effect that Final Yamato wipes Yamato III out of continuity. I figured that was that, until I saw this today: http://www.starblaze....php?page_id=14 "Story note: Right off the bat, one of the toughest details to reconcile in Series 3 is its exact time frame. Though the year is never stated in the show itself, we can be assured that we're in a post-Be Forever period. When Final Yamato came out with the year 2203 stamped on it, fandom contented itself with the idea that the series fit between those two movies, even though it would have been a tight fit indeed. This was all well and good until 1998, when a new edition of the series was released on home video with liner notes that placed it in 2205. For the purposes of the story, this is much easier to swallow. But it plays absolute havoc with the continuity of Final Yamato, and (by extension)Yamato Resurrection. Therefore, as we proceed through these analyses, we'll do what every other red-blooded Yamato fan has done with this information: ignore it. Extrapolated dates are still valid, however, and it is generally assumed that the latter part of Episode 1 takes place on October 11, the same calendar day the series premiered on Japanese TV." So I dunno... it sounds like no one's really operating on the same page here. (And how come the '95 Animerica article lists Yamato III as 2205, when starblazers.com says that date wasn't revealed until '98...?)
  19. Except that Final Yamato is set two years before Yamato III...
  20. Is there a full, well-sourced article about the journey of HG's Macross master tapes from HG, to AnimEigo, to ADV anywhere? There are some questions I can't find answers for... For example: Why doesn't the AnimEigo version have a dub? (I heard it was because HG forbade it, but can't find a link.) Did HG yank the license from AnimEigo, or did AnimEigo let it expire? Did AnimEigo get paid by HG for the restoration work (since it was later used for Robotech Remastered)?
  21. Harrison Ford's voice-over in Blade Runner?
