On evageeks.org, someone noted that in one scene, 1.0 has the word "EMARGENCY," whereas in 1.01 it's corrected to "EMERGENCY." So I'm guessing the differences between the two are minor.

She didn't lose because of the song she sang, she lost because of the "talk" Leon had with the other judges...as someone mentioned earlier, if the Vajra are drawn to her singing, is it a smart idea to have her become the Macross 25's new idol? -

All the rotoscoping is in the Miss Macross contest...as I said before, it must have been fun to work with the original footage of girls dancing and doin' the slinky walk. -
In reverse order: 1. If you look at the Macross Frontier threads, you'll find where to get each episode. 2. I haven't seen the Information High AMV, but any extra footage is probably from the movie. Especially if Guld's eyeball pops or you see Lucy's butt. 3. If you want a legal copy of DYRL, you won't get subs, so it doesn't matter what quality they are. You might want to check the pinned threads...most of what you want can be found there.

I did, too...It was the one thing I REALLY hated about Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings, because it just seemed like laziness there, but here it actually blends well with the more traditional animation AND the CG. -
I know...this is such a high-profile release that I was expecting at least twenty quality versions to fit their way onto the net within hours. Alas, that hasn't been the case.

I'm not sure what to say to that, although I feel I should respond. I've recommended Macross F to my friends in Japan, but I don't think any of them have watched it (not even my girlfriend....but then, I haven't watched "Fafner," which is her favorite). Whenever I loan someone my Macross DVDs or show it to them, I always add the caveat that I was eleven or twelve when I first saw it, so it has a nostalgic glow about it to me, but I still think it holds up well. But still, it's a giant robot show, with Bandai-made toys. And the "Macross" name has a lot of cultural baggage attached to it, which would be impossible to overcome even if Satoshi Kon took over the franchise. I dunno...when I left Japan in January (I'm going back in summer), they had a good-bye party for me, and the DJ (who was a friend of mine) played "Ai - Oboeteimasuka," "Wanna Be an Angel," and "Angel Voice" (and, inexplicably, the Yamato theme). Which was cute, but yeah....a litttle embarrassing. I dunno...I'm rambling. But I think maybe you want a Macross that you can show to people who don't like Macross (or think they don't like Macross), and I really doubt that something like that will ever get made. -

You're making my mouth water...especially the roated Booby Duck... Mmmm...FAST Pack-y... -
Let's wait a week and see if he says the same thing again... But, as was pointed out on another thread, unlike a former Macrossworlder, jasgripen still hasn't gotten to the point of claiming that Macross 7 makes little boys gay...at least, not yet.

In Zero, it was generation and destruction. And I do think the Vajra might be attracted to singing, but I place that in the Watch And Find Out (WAFO) category... Other than that, I completely agree with you...I'd be willing to bet that there will be no major plot connections with 7 here, and certainly nothing involving Anima Spiritia. Again, I could be wrong, but I feel pretty sure about this. -
You posted twice in same thread, saying the same thing...?

That's interesting speculation, and I like it. I don't agree with it, but I like it. There's one big problem with it...I think you're relying more on the previous Macross series than the Hory Froating Head will. I can guarantee that, as many in-jokes and homages the show throws at us, at its core it is something that is very accessible to new viewers, and won't try to alienate them by requiring that they watch 50 or 60 hours of previous Macross stories. Will there be something about the Protoculture? I'm almost sure of it. But will we find out what happened to the Megaroad-01, come across Shin and Sara, see a middle-aged Basara, and check in with Isamu and Myung? I wouldn't bet on it...and ditto for Protodeviln and Anima Spiritia. Of course, this all speculation, too, and I could be quite wrong...but I remember when everyone here jumped all over Zero, thinking it was a prelude to SDFM, instead of side story that just happened to be set before the series. and again, maybe Frontier will take up all the loose ends from the previous Macross stories and tie them all up into a radient, harmonious whole. But that would leave a lot of Japanese teenagers scratching their heads and then trashing the series...which is the last thing any of the investors want. -

I see your point (although I tend to use Miyazaki to convert non-fans...but if they're REALLY against anime, then I pull out the big guns: Grave of the Fireflies), but Macross really is an otaku series. In Japan (as I'm sure you know), if you say you like Gundam or Macross, you might as well be cosplaying as Char Aznable, carrying a hard drive full of loli hentai...ditto Evangelion, unless you just say, "Oh, I saw the new movie. It was good." Expecting a Macross series NOT to cater to otaku is a little unrealistic, IMHO. Something like Macross Plus can find a crossover market (as it did in the west...not sure about how it was received in Japan)...but then, as you say, it's a Shinichiro Watanabe production. Good otaku productions and good crossover productions are both equally rare, so I say we should enjoy Macross Frontier for what it is...a good otaku series, instead of wishing it were something else. -

Not really...it's like saying Flashback 2012 was a direct sequel to SDFM. D7 wasn't a remake of 7. -

Well...like all Zjentohlauedy names, like Vrlitwhai, Quamzin, and Quel Quallie, Queadelun Rau, spelled in the Latin alphabet, looks nothing like it sounds. Besides, I can understand using a Lambda in 2059, but why would SDFM Zentradi be using a Greek letter if they had never come into contact with Earth culture before? -

I'm not sure what this means...can you explain? When I think "direct sequel to M7," I think of Dynamite 7, but MF is definitely not THAT direct...so, what does it mean? And where did you read it?
