Macross Frontier News Thread II *Read 1st post*

But she's not just starting out...she released three singles a few years ago. Of course, I think they failed utterly, so perhaps it's not much different than if she were starting out...but still...accuracy an' all that sh!t. -

I'm still loving this show immensely... -
So no one else remembers this...? Hmm...maybe I am losing my mind...

As the creator of B.O.I.N.G., I vehemently disapprove of J A Dare taking it upon himself to create a "first come first served" policy. That said, the best I can come up with for determining position and rank is bust size, and while that would make B.O.I.N.G. the world's first mammocracy, I have no desire to measure anyone's man-boobs. So J A Dare's presumption stands, I guess.

I certainly hope it will! I haven't pre-ordered it...I'll just drop by Kinokuniya next Tuesday and pick it up there...

Damn! You guys are making me feel all uncreative an' sh!t...

Dude, are you trying to say that Shingo Mama was JUST A NOVELTY??? That's a good point about the production run...and yeah, coupled with the lack of promotionand the ungodliness of MF's broadcast time, plus the fact that Maaya Sakamoto is hardly a huge star in the J-Pop world...how DID the single get so high up the charts?

Macross Frontier S.M.S - what does it stands for ?

Y'know...I saw that, and I thought that the name Eiji Kurokawa sounded familiar...but I couldn't place it... *punches self in the head* So now we have a dilemma...who are we going to believe: some hobby magazine or the Hory Froating Head himself? I'm putting my money on the Head...so back to "Speedy Miracle Spacy," it is! -
Well...I could be wrong about this, but the impression I've always gotten of the Japanese music market is that it's like the charts used to be here in the '60s and before...where singles were for the casual listener, and only real fanatics would shell out the money for the albums. So the singles selling well is good, but the album selling well would mean that there are a lot of people who REALLY like the music. Of course, the world of anime soundtracks may work differently than the world of J-Pop...in which case, disregard everything I've said.

And you can bet that no T-shirt launching machine would take her out...

*Looks up* You Klan fanatics are the oddest people...

Isn't Seiyuu/Singer news legitimate here? There have been a number of Mari Iijima and Yoshiki Fukuyama threads over the years, and they all seemed to be acceptable, whether or not they focussed on the singer's connection to Macross. Not tryin' to start anything...just curious. -
You're in for a number of surprises... (The pleasant kind, I hope.)

I think Luca's already got his sights set on someone else... -
iMacross is only rapidshare. If you want a torrent for everything, you'll have to wait a bit. I've been patiently collecting material for the drop-dead big-deal wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am ultimate Macross torrent-to-end-all-Macross-torrents, but I'm not going to release it until February 9, 2009. (There's still a lot that I need to get, anyway, so even that date may be a little too optimistic...but it MUST be released on that date, no matter what.) So if you can wait a few more months, you can download to your heart's content, and upload for months thereafter, 'cause your ratio will be screwed.

Maybe she'll get a boost (so to speak) in fan art after last episode's shower scene...

So then I guess Luca = Sharon, since he controls the Ghosts. Trying to imagine the ending of Mac Plus with the F characters is...really quite entertaining. -
Well...that's the thing. There seem to be no references anywhere to the dubs. I don't really want to see them, I just want to make sure that they existed, and that my memory isn't completely terrible.

Macross Frontier S.M.S - what does it stands for ?
Gubaba replied to vanpang's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yes, I was joking...no offense intended. Is it becoming meaner here? It seems a lot nicer than it did a few years ago...I stopped posting around 2005 or so because the atmosphere here was a little TOO caustic, so it definitely seems nicer than it did then. -
Something that's been bugging me off and on for many years... I distinctly remember Star Blazers movies on TV when the series was first shown in the U.S. Right when the first series wrapped up, they showed a movie called "Derek Wildstar and the Gamilons," followed the next night by "Derek Wildstar and the Comet Empire." I remember the first one VERY clearly, because my parents let me watch the first hour, but then wanted to watch TV themselves, so I was cheesed off as only a seven-year-old can be, and I didn't get to see the end. Needless to say, they didn't even let me watch the beginning of the second movie. Now, I'm assuming these were dubs of the first Yamato movie and Farewell, Space Battleship Yamato, but I've been unable to find any information at all on the internets...like they never existed. I don't think my memory is playing tricks on me...does anyone else remember them...?

On a related note, I just noticed something important... That Alto guy? He kinda looks like a girl. -
I do too, but I also like it when something I love leaves me wanting just a little more, instead of thinking, "ye gods, will it ever end???"
-
Why do we need propaganda movies at all? Why can't we have honest, truthful, nuanced films instead...? Sorry, I'll shut up now.
-
If all the CDs hit the Oricon chart like "Triangler" did, then definitely. Otherwise, there will probably be at least a few songs on the 30th Anniversary CD that I'm sure will come out, or a Hong Kong bootleg featuring all the singles together...
-
Other movie...? Do you mean the straight-to-video ST 2? If so...yeah, I know absolutely nothing about it except the fact that it exists. I need the brain storage space for other, more important things...like the first sentence of every book by James Joyce.
