Good. I was beginning to wonder if there were no new characters to be introduced, since, as Brera has shown up, everyone in the OP is accounted for. I'm hoping there will be some new "mystery characters" who show up in the next one... And that picture of the Frontier CD had me salivating...but so far, nothing on Tokyo Toshokan or Nipponsei...

Oh, believe me...I have ALL the U.C. Gundam stuff with either official subs or fansubs (except for some of the Gundam Evolve episodes, and that pesky Part 2 of SD Gundam Mk. II, which Anime in Action apparently failed to sub). And, um...episodes 40 to 43 of MSG, which sixtydeuce has yet to finish. (Interesting you should mention boxtorrents...a while back, they kept automatically banning me for reasons I couldn't understand and they refused to explain, so I gave up on them. On a whim, I tried them again recently, and there have been no problems at all...I still don't understand what happened, but whatever...)

Generally, yeah...but I think managing a virtuoid idol is probably not the best route to take if that's your goal...Still, the guy was certifiably crazy, so anything's possible.

They may not be...remember when the Broadcast Edition of Episode 1 aired, and most of us were puzzled as to why they left out a good chunk of the battle in favor of Alto and Sheryl antics...? And then the next week, we realized just how important those antics had been as the springboard for the "What 'Bout My Earring?" storyline.

Ah...that makes perfect sense now. And since this is the newbie questin thread, I've got one...noting that max and Marje have the same voice actor, and the characters look somewhat similar (except the hair color), I wonder...is Marje a clone of Max...?

I don't think any of them actually tried to hypnotize everyone in the world, though...it just SEEMS like they did. Are you talking about "On Stage"? If so...it was a dramatization (and thus probably filmed entirely on City 7).

And both previous Macross TV series did seem to have twelve-to-fourteen episodes per story arc, so yeah, it could fit.

Interesting...Seems very Gundam-ish to change the opening and ending after just thirteen (or so) episodes...

Does it get better? Most would say yes. Does it get better enough to justify watching the whole thing? That's a hotly debated topic here... Speaking only for myself, I like it, and I think the story starts picking up around episode 13 or 14. From there, with a few glitches along the way, it continues to get better. Some Protoculture history is revealed, some stuff that may be important to Frontier is introduced, and the ending is quite good. Basara also stops singing "Planet Dance" and moves on to other songs. BUT...it remains goofy. It's still pretty repetitive. There are more Valks with faces. No one gives Basara the smack upside he the head that he's simply BEGGING for. There are only a few truly great mecha action sequences. Max and Milia remain minor characters. So it depends on what you want. I'd say definitely give it to the halfway point before you decide...if you want a serious mecha story, you'll be disappointed. But if you can go with the flow and accept the sheer oddity of the whole thing, it can be a lot of fun. Fair enough...?

Or "The Real Milli Vanilli"! It's hard to imagine Myung wanting ANYTHING to do with Sharon Apple ever again, but hey...stranger things have happened. (Funnily enough, I also thought of Charles Manson (but not U2...*pulls out Rattle and Hum and hits self over the head with it*) while writing my reply...after all, some people think it's uber-cool to listen to his rock stuff. Generally, though, they're not people with very good taste.)

Again...most of the singers you listen to probably didn't try to enslave an entire planet. Even for those who enjoy danger and rebelliousness in their music, Sharon Apple seems like she should be beyond the pale, even by 2045...

Agreed. (btw, I've always wondered what the hell the Space Whale did to Basara's VF-19...spit blood on it...? That scene was weird.) And I think that's probably a fan-edit duet...Mari did an astonishingly wonderful cover of the song for "Macross the Tribute," and someone just slapped 'em together...just like "Runner" duet from FB2012.

Background music in Mac Plus appears to be ACTUAL music on board the Macross 7, and yeah...you do hear the occasional Sharon Apple song (that particular one in episode 5 was "After, in the dark"). According to Macross 7 Galaxy Network Chart Vol. 1, "Sharon Apple 'R'" has a big hit in 2045 with "Santi-U (Remake)," so that may be who we're hearing in M7. Not sure why anyone would a) want to remake Sharon, or b) why anyone would buy her songs ("Hey, remember that virtuoid idol that almost enslaved the earth and completely ruined the Space War I Armistice 30th Anniversary Ceremony? Dude, she's BACK!"), but there you go... EDIT: Typo
